Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

When they say they are pro-life, they do not mean yours.

rich, arrogant assholes who equate luck with genius

Hi god, it’s us. Thanks a heap, you’re having a great week and it’s only Thursday!

Dumb motherfuckers cannot understand a consequence that most 4 year olds have fully sorted out.

This blog will pay for itself.

I might just take the rest of the day off and do even more nothing than usual.

fuckem (in honor of the late great efgoldman)

The rest of the comments were smacking Boebert like she was a piñata.

The unpunished coup was a training exercise.

Let me eat cake. The rest of you could stand to lose some weight, frankly.

Too often we confuse noise with substance. too often we confuse setbacks with defeat.

Republican also-rans: four mules fighting over a turnip.

Sadly, media malpractice has become standard practice.

I’ve spoken to my cat about this, but it doesn’t seem to do any good.

Give the craziest people you know everything they want and hope they don’t ask for more? Great plan.

This really is a full service blog.

When you’re a Republican, they let you do it.

Relentless negativity is not a sign that you are more realistic.

Is it irresponsible to speculate? It is irresponsible not to.

Perhaps you mistook them for somebody who gives a damn.

Republicans do not trust women.

The desire to stay informed is directly at odds with the need to not be constantly enraged.

All hail the time of the bunny!

“Jesus paying for the sins of everyone is an insult to those who paid for their own sins.”

I lived in Philly for about 10 years before I moved out west, after growing up in Pittsburgh. The Philly fans are the most fair weathered fans I ever knew. Only loyal when their team is winning.

    BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Liberty’s choice of Romney leads to angry student response

Liberty University students and alumni are accusing the Christian school of violating its own teachings by asking Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints whose adherents are called Mormons, to deliver its 2012 commencement address.

By Friday morning, more than 700 comments had been posted on the school’s Facebook page about the Thursday announcement – a majority of them decidedly against the Chancellor Jerry Falwell Jr.’s invitation, citing that the school had taught them Mormonism isn’t part of the Christian faith.

“I can’t support Romney and I am happy I decided not to walk (in the commencement) this year,” wrote student Josh Bergmann. “Liberty University should have gotten a Christian to speak not someone who practices a cult. Shame on you Liberty University.”

Janet Loeffler, a 53-year-old freshman at Liberty, expressed her anger at the decision when contacted by CNN. She also sent a copy of the page of the freshman textbook “The Popular Encyclopedia of Apologetics” which includes the passage, “Mormon doctrine stands in stark contrast to Jewish and Christian monotheism, which teaches that there is only one true God and that every other ‘God’ is a false god.”…

Illinois ranked third while Wisconsin placed 42nd in the most recent Bloomberg Economic Evaluation of States index, which includes personal income, tax revenue and employment. Illinois gained 32,000 jobs in the 12 months ending in February, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics found. Wisconsin, where Walker promised to create 250,000 jobs with the help of business-tax breaks, lost 16,900.

Vote Republican’t for a truly sucky government.

More Romney winning wingnut hearts and minds

At a party meeting in Arizona, RNC members and state GOP chairmen were welcomed into a private reception with Mitt Romney “only after signing a form pledging to support Romney as a delegate to the national convention in Tampa,” CNN reports.

“All three members of Iowa’s conservative RNC delegation… attempted to enter the reception but were rebuffed after refusing to sign the delegate pledge. The dispute became heated in the hallway outside, with the Iowans demanding to know why they had to sign a form to get their picture taken with the former Massachusetts governor.”

He doesn’t trust them, and they don’t trust him, a marriage made in wingnut Hell.

Is this an ‘open’ open thread, or just a ‘Pens/Flyers’ open thread? So many things about this blog go over my head.

Just saw a national poll from this February on popularity of states.
Most popular state is Hawaii. Awright way to go, Obama needs to play up that Hawaii homestate mojo, no matter how much the GOP laughs and the pundits pee themselves about nonsense.

On other hand, California, my home state, is by far least popular. In the cellar. 27 favorable 44 unfavorable for a -17 spread.

My feelings are hurt. So, all I have to say to all these jealous people from other dinky primitive states is that

The SHARKS have been doing a great job of rope a dope, The Blues are exhausted. The SHARKS will now rise to CRUSH all their opposition and win the Stanley Cup!

    It’s a done deal. It’s over.
