He’s almost Tunchesque in stature too.

Kind of a stunner when you stop and realize that you’ve (I’ve) been looking at pictures of Inkblot for over two-thirds of its life. I’m not a cat person, hell I’m not even a per person, but when I saw that an hour or so ago it tugged at even this Crusty Old Logger’s heart-strings.

Poor kitteh…isn’t Drum one of the first political bloggers to do the whole “cat blogging” thing? Forgot where I heard that, but if it’s true, a real piece of internet history has gone missing.

In other news, not sure if any of you have been keeping track of the Russian criminal justice system (oh, you mean you don’t follow it? =P), but they’ve jailed the punk group “Pussy Riot” for being vocally anti-Putin. I’ve written about it elsewhere, in case anyone is interested.

Now that is a LOT of cat to go missing. I hope that very soon the Drums will find Inkblot walking in as though nothing at all had happened.

I wish to register a complaint. (Said in John Cleese’s dead-parrot sketch voice.) There’s an ad I usually see here (you Americans will never see it) that I find embarrassing. It says across the top, HOW TM SME SOLUTIONS IMPROVE YOUR BUSINESS? Malaysian English is usually much better than this.

(TM is Telekom Malaysia. The ad is aimed at small to midsized enterprises.)

Any Uncle Tupelo fans out there?

You may be interested to know that the band members bought back the rights to their first three albums and arranged to have them remastered and pressed on audiophile-quality vinyl. They sound really good.

After securing the rights, the band released a compilation entitled 89/93: An Anthology. In 2003, Uncle Tupelo re-issued their first three albums, which before the lawsuit had cumulatively sold over 200,000 copies.[51]”

Just a tidbit on Ann Romney’s easy use of stereotypes for ‘humor’ that helps flesh out her complacent “you people” attitude.

Despite her relatively late start, Romney, 63, won silver and gold medals in 2005 and 2006 at the highest level of competition from the U.S. Dressage Federation. She rode Baron, a gelding she has described as “my best friend, my wonderful companion, my best boy.” She credits Jan Ebeling, who emigrated to the U.S. from Germany, with vaulting her into the top tier of amateur dressage.
    __
Ebeling’s demanding nature, Romney said, sometimes causes a strain.
    __
“We all get upset at certain times with anybody that is, you know, especially a German,” Romney said.  Source

A lily by any other name is still a lily, and poisonious to a cat. I learned that the hard way as well, more than a decade ago…
For more than forty years now, I’ve always liked to keep fresh flowers around the house, makes the place look nice & feel homey. But these days, the only flowers I’ll have are the ones I’d be willing to eat, because I know my pets will eat them.

I hope Inkblot returns safely! I would encourage Drum to go door-to-door and ask if anyone has patched any attic holes recently. My cat Onyx went missing 2x in a year and both times he was stuck in someone’s attic because the person patched a hole. He is an awfully lucky cat because the first time, the owner saw him before closing the hole, put up a cat trap and responded to my missing poster. (Onyx refused to go into the trap, so I had to climb up there and drag him out) The second time he went missing, I went door-to-door and when a neighbor behind us mentioned that her husband had patched the attic access the same day Onyx went missing, I begged to be allowed up there to look, because I was sure that was where he was. The neighbor did not believe me at first because Onyx hadn’t been meowing (he was terrified) but grudgingly let me put food and water up there. They called the next day and told me that they heard him meowing and the food was gone. It took another 1 1/2 days to get him out. The neighbor finally opened back up the hole, (he was sick of having us over there putting our heads into the crawlspace and calling for Onyx) Onyx bolted home about 10 mins. later and Mr. CatHairEverywhere went over and helped the neighbor re-patch the attic.

Yeah, I visit Irvine for business several times a year, and stay with my uncle. I go jogging every morning and often see coyotes. There were three blocking my path one morning, and they just nonchalantly trotted out of the way and watched me. Pretty used to living among people.
