Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

They are lying in pursuit of an agenda.

This country desperately needs a functioning fourth estate.

Teach a man to fish, and he’ll sit in a boat all day drinking beer.

When they say they are pro-life, they do not mean yours.

If you still can’t see these things even now, maybe politics isn’t your forte and you should stop writing about it.

The republican caucus is covering themselves with something, and it is not glory.

There are a lot more evil idiots than evil geniuses.

Anyone who bans teaching American history has no right to shape America’s future.

In after Baud. Damn.

Weird. Rome has an American Pope and America has a Russian President.

This really is a full service blog.

Give the craziest people you know everything they want and hope they don’t ask for more? Great plan.

Compromise? There is no middle ground between a firefighter and an arsonist.

A thin legal pretext to veneer over their personal religious and political desires.

Disagreements are healthy; personal attacks are not.

We’re watching the self-immolation of the leading world power on a level unprecedented in human history.

When someone says they ā€œlove freedomā€, rest assured they don’t mean yours.

Republicans choose power over democracy, every day.

Republicans cannot even be trusted with their own money.

So Todd Haley is the Steeler OC after being canned by the Chiefs. Speaking of canned, so who is the first coach canned? Romeo Crennel? Andy Reid? Norv Turner?(sorry for the repost from previous thread)

Was listening to Dan Patrick Show last week and he had Roethlisberger on talking about players skipping games to see the birth of their kids. Anyhoo, Patrick asked him if he would name his son after a current or former Steeler and I kept yelling “NAME HIM TUNCH!” while stuck in traffic.

…so who is the first coach canned?

Unless he sprints, Reid won’t make it to the tunnel after the last game when he’s fired.

Speaking of canned, so who is the first coach canned?

I thought with a new owner that it might be Pat Shurmur, but now I’m thinking the top three candidates are Jason Garrett, Jim Schwartz, and Chan Gailey.

    @Moonbatting Average:

I think Andy Reid and Norv Turner have earned a “end of season” parting of ways. The in-season firing, which does no good for the team, is a deliberate act of humiliation. It is usually done because of the owner’s personal issues, or in response to a fan insurrection.

@Sayne: Guess you didn’t catch the BAL@KC game earlier this year (final score 9-6 Birdies). The Chefs remind me of a comment John Madden made about the Ravens somewhere in the 2003-4 timespan: “They don’t have all the pieces, but the ones they have are pretty darned good.” If Matt Cassell weren’t having the kind of career year most circus clowns only dream of, they’d be a helluva lot better than 1-8.

So Stealers prevailed…kind of a Pyrrhic victory though, wunnit? Next week ought to be interesting: Ravens minus Lewis & Webb with Ngata, JSmith & Reed banged up vs Stealers minus The Hair, Clark, Antonio Brown, Mendenhall & (maybe) Pig Ben. (I say “maybe” because we’ve all seen that dogforsaken dramaqueen look like he’s bound for the ICU & play like a bastard the next week.) Maybe they ought to continue the Veterans Day theme & dedicate this one to all the guys in VA hospitals…

@Sayne: Apparently you didn’t check out the BAL@KC game earlier this year (won 9-6 by the Birdies) or you wouldn’t feel so bad. As John Madden said some years about the Ravens when they were in a down cycle, the Chefs “don’t have all the pieces, but the ones they have are pretty darn good.” If Cassell weren’t having the kind of year masochists can only dream of they might be in the playoff mix.

Meanwhile it looks like next Sunday night’s game ought to be dedicated to all the guys in VA hospitals: Ravens minus Lewis & Webb with Ngata, Reed & JSmith banged up, vs Stealers minus The Hair, Clark, Mendenhall & Pig Ben (though I’ll believe he’s out when I see him on the sideline out of uniform–that goddamn dramaqueen has played with worse-looking injuries.)
