Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

“Facilitate” is an active verb, not a weasel word.

Nancy smash is sick of your bullshit.

Hey Washington Post, “Democracy Dies in Darkness” was supposed to be a warning, not a mission statement.

When you’re a Republican, they let you do it.

They think we are photo bombing their nice little lives.

Fight them, without becoming them!

Speaking of republicans, is there a way for a political party to declare intellectual bankruptcy?

If ‘weird’ was the finish line, they ran through the tape and kept running.

GOP baffled that ‘we don’t care if you die’ is not a winning slogan.

“The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits.”

Everybody saw this coming.

Wow, you are pre-disappointed. How surprising.

It’s the corruption, stupid.

Today’s gop: why go just far enough when too far is right there?

If rights aren’t universal, they are privilege, not rights.

A thin legal pretext to veneer over their personal religious and political desires.

He really is that stupid.

Never give a known liar the benefit of the doubt.

You come for women, you’re gonna get your ass kicked.

Only Democrats have agency, apparently.

Their freedom requires your slavery.

There are some who say that there are too many strawmen arguments on this blog.

Every reporter and pundit should have to declare if they ever vacationed with a billionaire.

They were going to turn on one another at some point. It was inevitable.

Nobody had anything to say about the TWIB thread below?  I thought the first podcast was especially interesting and important.  You should consider taking a listen.

House update:  The brick is up, the roof is done, and they’re getting ready to insulate.  That should happen over the next couple of days.  After that, drywall.

Re: the thread below-I get pissed over seeing that media bar as if I’ve paid a visit to the player. It shows up in my history, a a slightly cryptic mix of characters.

Plus, I tend not to do audio clicks.

Wow, the MSM reporters really have the long-knives out for Ashley Judd tonight don’t they. Even the “left-leaning” reporters have the talking points down.

I ask again of those more familiar with KY politics. Who does the Dems have who can match McConnell on name recognition, fundraising and possible on-camera prowess?

If McConnell will be tough to beat either way, then why put a Blue Dog up against him who won’t be able to compete with him?

While it may have seemed a good idea at the time, those posts more and more appear naught but free advertising posing as blogging.

Yeah, I have zero interest in podcasts on any site, even this one. I prefer to read.

Are devotees of podcasts pod people?

‘Cause we’ve been warned about that.

I don’t comment because the embedded stream doesn’t work for me so I have to go into iTunes so when it’s finished I’m in iTunes so I don’t comment.

The embedded stream doesn’t work for me and even if it did, I don’t have an hour to listen to the full episode and there’s no easy way to navigate to the stuff I would want to listen to.

I’m busy contemplating the Gophers playing North Dakota for the tenth time in their last 48 games thanks to the NCAA’s absolute unwillingness to spring for plane tickets for women’s hockey teams. We played them the last two games of last year’s regular season; once in last year’s WCHA semifinals; once in last year’s NCAA first round; four times during this regular season; Saturday night in the WCHA final; and this coming Saturday in the NCAA first round again.

I’m really sick of the color green. I’d rather be playing anyone else in the tournament.

podcast moves too slowly for my tastes. I need to get a computer in the shop and then maybe I’ll listen. I think the better posts are when they don’t do the “keep –ing that chicken” trick and just go ahead and give an executive summary of the podcasts.

@tofubo: Well, the low voltage was already done when the high voltage was, and I’ve already ran 2 lines of Cat 6A (750mHz 10gb/s) to each room in the house, and four to the office. I did that myself last weekend.

I’m not sure what the problem is, but that TWIB post took forever to load for me. I opened several other B-J posts in other tabs and they loaded fine. Maybe the audio links slowed it down.

Like a lot of the others, I’m not interested in listening to people. I come to the blogs to read. And if I happen to be at work, they frown on streaming audio.

I am going to side with other people here. I don’t listen to audio posts on blogs like this. I come here to read. If I want to listen to a podcast, I put it on my iPod and listen later. I have a huge queue in front of TWIB, I’ll listen to them someday.

i had to run those things (and redo the knob-n-tube wiring) in a 1916 farmhouse w/plaster-and-lathe walls, not fun, but the house be wired now (and has a grounded elec system !!)

it’d have been easier before the walls went up

    ” After that, drywall.”
Always sub-contract yur drywalling out to the pros. No job for the cost conscious amateur. Check that they put full-run sheets over all doors and windows. No joints in those places, they’ll separate later.

@maya: My builder is handling all that. I wouldn’t dream of trying to be general contractor on something like building the house.
