Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

“Can i answer the question? No you can not!”

Republicans in disarray!

After roe, women are no longer free.

Impressively dumb. Congratulations.

The republican caucus is already covering themselves with something, and it’s not glory.

rich, arrogant assholes who equate luck with genius

So it was an October Surprise A Day, like an Advent calendar but for crime.

This year has been the longest three days of putin’s life.

Damn right I heard that as a threat.

People are complicated. Love is not.

Russian mouthpiece, go fuck yourself.

Motto for the House: Flip 5 and lose none.

Within six months Twitter will be fully self-driving.

A last alliance of elves and men. also pet photos.

Hot air and ill-informed banter

Their freedom requires your slavery.

Perhaps you mistook them for somebody who gives a damn.

Too often we hand the biggest microphones to the cynics and the critics who delight in declaring failure.

The GOP is a fucking disgrace.

Only Democrats have agency, apparently.

Is it negotiation when the other party actually wants to shoot the hostage?

Speaking of republicans, is there a way for a political party to declare intellectual bankruptcy?

Take hopelessness and turn it into resilience.

New McCarthy, same old McCarthyism.

This Week in TWiB! 10/11/13

by Elon James White|  October 11, 201311:00 am| 23 Comments

This post is in: This Week In Blackness

FacebookTweetEmail

It’s the end of week two of the government shutdown and #TeamBlackness is taking it in stride, unlike some people. In case you missed it, we covered everything from Justice Scalia’s anxiety about ladies cursing to Miley Cyrus. If you haven’t had a chance to subscribe, you can find us  iTunes, Stitcher, or download directly from our RSS Feed. You can also follow us on Facebook and Twitter.

TWiB! Media relies on the generous support from listeners like you. To make a donation, please visit donate.twib.me.

#TWiBradio #461 | 12.1 Miles

#TeamBlackness asks, “Is this guy ferreal?” regarding Justice Scalia’s view of America, sexist buttons at the California Republican Convention, the President tells the GOP exactly what they “get,” and Elon James White is the most talented runner in United States history.

#TWiBradio #462 | I’m An Adult

#TeamBlackness hashes out the cultural history of racial difference between South Africa and the United States and to alleviate government shutdown stress, one retailer is offering furloughed employees a special toy for their down time.

#TWiBradio #463 | The Roots Filter

The government is shutdown and we’re in the midst of a salmonella apocalypse! What dictates where Black people jog? We introduce our new segment: ” The Humorless Liberal Weekly.” And the Roots make Miley Cyrus’ music tolerable. No, really.

#TWiBradio #464 | The Book of Brad

#TeamBlackness discusses an outrageous AP Poll (17:00), the productive habits of creative people (21:00), and we discuss the Zimmerman trial episode of South Park (00:01:15).

@amTWIB #107 | The Power of Eh

The Morning Crew discusses the most advanced tip calculator in the world, a 16-year old deemed not mature enough for an abortion, a strange religious double standard, and the power of apathy gets a 9-year old to Vegas.

@amTWIB #108 | The Word is “Plethysmograph”

Brooks Brothers make suits, but did you know about their first job? Georgia Tech fraternity: you’re circulating rape culture! For charter school’s, the rent is too damn . . . low? And we learned a new word today.

@amTWIB #109 | Pillar of the Community

The Morning Crew compares the US education system with other countries, the ongoing Washington Redskins debate, and an unlikely pillar of the community.

@amTWIB #110 | Abandoner Protocol Alpha

Ljoy and Imani were out, so we have a special deluxe “What You Should Know” rewind episode of amTWIB.

    I’m sorry, I have no interest in this type of blogging. I guess I’m just old fashioned and like to read.

    Ha, I read “Is this guy ferreal” (re Scalia) as “Is this guy feral?” Yes, he must have been raised by wolves – all male ones – because he seems to have never met a single actual woman in his life…

    Scalia is just jealous that in spite of all of his practice with Ginsburg, he still can’t twerk as well as Miley.

    Elon: too early to listen with a Jameson’s in hand. Will catch you later.

    Listening to beautiful and needed fall rain pour outside. Music to my ears.

    I love the Twib podcast, but they’re too long for my drives. I end up spending two days listening and get behind on my others. Sucks. Is there anyway you guys can break up a single podcast into smaller bit?

    So now TwiB becomes TWiTWiB? ATM machines?

    Where does it end? Godel’s Incompleteness theorem post titles?

    @Elizabelle: I’m jealous of your rain. As I don’t have it, a few podcasts to clean by might be just the thing. Will save the Scalia one for something that really really needs a violent scrubbing. Also, nothing that can be broken if hurled.

    @Amir Khalid: I have and I don’t or I would not have made that comment. For me, if it is not in writing and signed, it’s ownership is in question. “what I meant to say” etc.

    @ruemara: I found the juxtaposition of this and the last thread interesting. I mean, horrors! A thread not dedicated to something they were interested in! What next, healthcare offered along the same lines? I was also tempted to post a lot of tl:dw into football threads, but I’m bad.

    @Fuzzy: Why would you bother leaving a comment stating that you don’t like this type of post? I’m not criticizing, necessarily: I’m honestly curious.

    To me, it’s like seeing a stand with a FREE LEMONADE sign, walking up to the proprietor and saying, “I just want you to know I don’t like lemonade. I only like coffee.” Why not just keep walking?

    @Fuzzy: Well Fuzzy, There’s a bunch of posts on Balloon Juice and we also have great writers over at http://TWIB.ME too. That said in the wide wonderful world of the internet there are different types of content. Perhaps you should try it out to see if you dig it. If not we understand. We’ll still be posting but we understand ;-)

    @Cassidy: Too long for your drives? As in hard drive or your actual drive? We make sure to compress them to be as small as possible so that we’re not clogging up devices. As for breaking up the podcast into smaller segments–that may be something we attempt in the future but at the moment we’re a Mom & Pop media team. Our staff is stretched as it is now. If I started demanding snippets to be created daily for all shows I may get punched in the face. I’d prefer less face punching.

    @jeffreyw: Not sure what to do for you. The shows are broken up into 60 and 90 minute clips. If that’s too much content then I’m sorry for your loss of awesome ;-)

    @Roger Moore: As I mentioned in an earlier response about chopping up the episodes, transcribing them at this point isn’t an option for us at the moment. Perhaps one day…

    @ruemara: Ha! We’re actually still warming back up! The only thing we’re doing now that we didn’t do before is add a week in review post. We’re trying to appeal to all and give reminders about what we’re doing! Wait until we finally get our new studio built. It’s going to be madness I tell ya.

    @Mike in NC: TWiB = ZZZZZ

    No, TWiB = This Week in Blackness. Not 5 capital Z’s in a row. We’ll be more clear next time.
