Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

The Supreme Court cannot be allowed to become the ultimate, unaccountable arbiter of everything.

Only Democrats have agency, apparently.

Stamping your little feets and demanding that they see how important you are? Not working anymore.

They love authoritarianism, but only when they get to be the authoritarians.

Perhaps you mistook them for somebody who gives a damn.

Bark louder, little dog.

Republicans: slavery is when you own me. freedom is when I own you.

Republicans choose power over democracy, every day.

We are builders in a constant struggle with destroyers. let’s win this.

“That’s what the insurrection act is for!”

If you’re pissed about Biden’s speech, he was talking about you.

Republican also-rans: four mules fighting over a turnip.

I was promised a recession.

Black Jesus loves a paper trail.

Impressively dumb. Congratulations.

fuckem (in honor of the late great efgoldman)

The current Supreme Court is a rogue court. Very dangerous.

If you tweet it in all caps, that makes it true!

This has so much WTF written all over it that it is hard to comprehend.

Conservatism: there are people the law protects but does not bind and others who the law binds but does not protect.

Republicans can’t even be trusted with their own money.

Narcissists are always shocked to discover other people have agency.

You come for women, you’re gonna get your ass kicked.

Let there be snark.

Bleg from commentor Abo Gato:

My husband and I will be in NYC next week and would love to have a BJ meetup one evening next week if you can scare up some other participants.

We come in on Monday and leave on Saturday. The only commitment we have is on Wednesday night when we go see Paul Simon and Sting perform together. We’ll be staying in mid-town. We will go in any direction to meetup…

Anybody interested / willing to volunteer to set up a meet, leave a comment below or email me at annelaurie dot verizon.net (click on my name under ‘contact’ in the right-hand column).

That’s what I saw when I got to the airport there, so I flew to London.

Don’t know if this counts as an open thread, but it’s pretty freaky to see our long-awaited rainstorm headed towards us on the weather radar. It’s like what they show when Godzilla is wading towards Tokyo.

For medium-sized groups (<10 people), Burp Castle is a quiet place to have a beer and chat.
