Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Speaker Mike Johnson is a vile traitor to the House and the Constitution.

We cannot abandon the truth and remain a free nation.

The current Supreme Court is a rogue court. Very dangerous.

Peak wingnut was a lie.

Polls are now a reliable indicator of what corporate Republicans want us to think.

Since when do we limit our critiques to things we could do better ourselves?

… gradually, and then suddenly.

Their boy Ron is an empty plastic cup that will never know pudding.

People are complicated. Love is not.

‘Museums aren’t America’s attic for its racist shit.’

Shallow, uninformed, and lacking identity

Nikki Haley, who can’t acknowledge ‘slavery’, is a pathetic shill.

Please don’t feed the bears.

A thin legal pretext to veneer over their personal religious and political desires.

People are weird.

It is possible to do the right thing without the promise of a cookie.

Let’s not be the monsters we hate.

He imagines himself as The Big Bad, Who Is Universally Feared… instead of The Big Jagoff, Who Is Universally Mocked.

Only Democrats have agency, apparently.

They think we are photo bombing their nice little lives.

Meanwhile over at truth Social, the former president is busy confessing to crimes.

Bark louder, little dog.

Optimism opens the door to great things.

The words do not have to be perfect.

Late Night/Early Morning Open Thread

This post is in: Get off my grass you damned kids

FacebookTweetEmail

I have developed an earache and a sinus infection when the temperature dropped 30 degrees and it got all rainy and nasty. Tried to sleep but can’t, and I even had squirmy Thurston sleep with Shawn tonight so I could sleep. Going to be a long day tomorrow.

Been a long time since I posted some pet pics. I will make sure I take a bunch tomorrow.

Raining hard here. The folks who left the hot city Saturday to come camping up here must be freezing in their tents now. (Disregarding the ‘save the planet’ message on the video since it’s too late for the border zones), this is a nice song sung by a friend of mine.

There is water in the ground and water in the sky There is water in the rain that falls o my hat
There is water that rises, water that falls
There is water in the mudpuddle in my front yard There is water in the lake, water in the streams
There is water in the oceans, and water in my glass There is water in the canoe, water in Nicaragua There is water on the umbrella, and in Paraguay There is water in the sap that flows through the wood And water in the dough that becomes bread
    Take care of the water…

Good to hear from you, Cole. Sinus infections are no fun. Good luck with that.

Temp down to 67° now in NoVA, going up only to 68° today (Tuesday) and then down to 58° tonight. High of only 65° Wednesday. Pleasant but weird for June here.

I don’t know why I’m up so late, but now I almost want to stay up until dawn (5:45). But I may fade after the current episode of Law and Order: Criminal Intent finishes in about 10-15 minutes. Love that show. Best one of the franchise by far.

My sinus infections get a lot better fast when I dose them with suda fed, the plain kind with nothing else added in. Body stops hurting all over. And my ear infections turned out to be allergy related a lot of the time. For both, the passages get narrowed and I feel it worst in my joints and stomach. The sudaf. works great, and alleg.-24 used to work for my ears. Japanese people in my family say that dropping temperature would make you hurt all over and get sick if you didn’t have lots of blankets on. They say sleeping cold really fcks u up.

Bixby caught me off-guard last night and now I have a black, swollen right eye and some nice road rash. Today he gets clipped, I hope he doesn’t think it’s because he tried to kill me….although…

I found out when I went to see an allergist that sinus issues can also be asthma-related. It turned out that I don’t really have any allergies (except a very mild one to mold) but my asthma is worse than I thought and was causing a lot of my sinus issues (non-allergic rhinitis is strongly tied to asthma).

Hope JCole and all BJ readers are doing better. Enjoying the mild drizzle and cool air in NoVA today.

Be well. Oh, and Thurston and Lily and Rosie and Steve pics please.

Feel better , John. The temps dropped like a rock here in Jersey too. Can’t believe I had the AC running two days ago.

It’s been a while since you mentioned Shawn too. When he first moved in, you posted all that dietary menu stuff, trying to get his diabetes under control. How’s he doing these days?
