Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Tick tock motherfuckers!

And now I have baud making fun of me. this day can’t get worse.

Authoritarian republicans are opposed to freedom for the rest of us.

The poor and middle-class pay taxes, the rich pay accountants, the wealthy pay politicians.

It’s easy to sit in safety and prescribe what other people should be doing.

The party of Reagan has become the party of Putin.

Insiders who complain to politico: please report to the white house office of shut the fuck up.

I’d try pessimism, but it probably wouldn’t work.

“What are Republicans afraid of?” Everything.

The GOP is a fucking disgrace.

The worst democrat is better than the best republican.

“Squeaker” McCarthy

Take your GOP plan out of the witness protection program.

And we’re all out of bubblegum.

The GOP couldn’t organize an orgy in a whorehouse with a fist full of 50s.

Let’s finish the job.

A last alliance of elves and men. also pet photos.

Fuck the extremist election deniers. What’s money for if not for keeping them out of office?

A lot of Dems talk about what the media tells them to talk about. Not helpful.

Too often we hand the biggest microphones to the cynics and the critics who delight in declaring failure.

Good lord, these people are nuts.

Thanks to your bullshit, we are now under siege.

I know this must be bad for Joe Biden, I just don’t know how.

I’d like to think you all would remain faithful to me if i ever tried to have some of you killed.

The widest-open net I have ever seen in my life has gone begging. TB had their goal challenged, and reversed, on offsides on the play which set it up.

Why do we have threads for honkeys? Can’t everyone participate, or is this some sort of Bernie rally?

@Gin & Tonic: Norway for 1.5 weeks with my wife and several friends. Lots of good hiking and kayaking to be had, and most of it in remote parts where work emails can be safely ignored. Then I will visit the West Coast for a few days (SF for 1 day, Vegas for a multi-hour gambling trip, and then LA for a day). Finishing off in Boston at one of my wife’s friend’s wedding.

Great day on the water. We “left out” at 5:30 am and got to the amberjack grounds by 7. Nine people on the boat and we limited keeping one each in the 25-40 lb range. It was really calm so my ass is draggin but not nearly as bad as it would be if we had a rough day. Here’s an idea of how the “reef donkey’s” bend a really stout rod!

Pens are freaking me out and I can’t even discuss them.

IRL, my job has been so ridiculously stressful the last few months that I am more than strung out and exhausted. As of Friiday at 5pm, I’ll be on staycation for a week. I can’t fucking wait.

@Gin & Tonic: While I try I always end up setting the rod in that holder and cranking. They put belts on us while we headed out and I have never seen that on a boat. Generally they wait for the first hit but these guys knew they were headed right for the AJ’s and acted accordingly. Here’s a decent shot.

As for Grant, if you mean President Grant, he’s a bit incommunicado these days. He also was not at Gettysburg. He was still in the western theater of operations at that time.

@redshirt: No, that was 2010. Its whichever one came out in 2008. I also missed the second Batman movie for the same reason – my team and I were at our BCT’s training rotation at the Joint Mission Readiness Center in Hohenfells, Germany.

@Adam L Silverman: Iron Man or more likely The Incredible Hulk.

It was an OK movie. I think Hulk is difficult as a main character and far better as a supporting one, like in the upcoming Thor movie.

  54. 54.

    Adam L Silverman

    May 24, 2016 at 11:19 pm

@redshirt: The problem, I think, they’ve had with Hulk is that they kept doing origin stories. Given the TV show in the 70s, I’m not sure there’s anyone who isn’t aware of the Hulk’s origins. I also think that it took until the Avengers to finally get the CGI right. Norton didn’t do a bad job as Banner, and the CGI was better than the Ang Lee Hulk, but the Hulk from the Avengers is the first time I’ve felt I’m actually watching the Hulk on screen and its not requiring a tremendous suspension of disbelief. I also like Rufallo as Banner.

I think there are a number of stand alone Hulk movies they could do if they decided they wanted to, aside from the obvious World War Hulk and Planet Hulk story arcs that could net them at least three sort of stand alone Hulk films that still had the ensemble cast component because of the stories.
