On the Road is a weekday feature spotlighting reader photo submissions.
From the exotic to the familiar, whether you’re traveling or in your own backyard, we would love to see the world through your eyes.
Good Morning All,
This weekday feature is for Balloon Juicers who are on the road, travelling, etc. and wish to share notes, links, pictures, stories, etc. from their escapades. As the US mainland begins the end of the Earth day as we measure it, many of us rise to read about our friends and their transient locales.
So, please, speak up and share some of your adventures, observations, and sights as you explore, no matter where you are. By concentrating travel updates here, it’s easier for all to keep up-to-date on the adventures of our fellow Commentariat. And it makes finding some travel tips or ideas from 6 months ago so much easier to find…
Have at ’em, and have a safe day of travels!
Should you have any pictures (tasteful, relevant, etc….) you can email them to [email protected] or just use this nifty link to start an email: Start an Email to send a Picture to Post on Balloon Juice

@OzarkHillbilly:
I don’t even have to try.
?BillinGlendaleCA
@OzarkHillbilly: No, just hate me; it’s ALL MY FAULT.
Baud
Great pictures, Bill.
?BillinGlendaleCA
@Baud: I hope you mean the real ones, the ones with the bad links all look alike.
The actual pics are quite good, except for one of the homeless guy on the top of the mountain.
Schlemazel
@?BillinGlendaleCA:
OH, now those pictures are MUCH better!
thanks, those are great
OzarkHillbilly
@?BillinGlendaleCA: AhHA! SO YOU’RE WHO”S TO BLAME!!!!!!!
Schlemazel
@Spanky:
Aw, now you spoiled what could have been a masterful troll if the pictures showed up later!
?BillinGlendaleCA
@OzarkHillbilly: I wanted to add one picture, ONE PICTURE to Flickr from Lightroom and when I went to publish; Lightroom insisted that I needed to republish all 57 pictures.
Baud
@?BillinGlendaleCA: Huh? I’m talking about the pictures in the post.
Major Major Major Major
Very nice, Bill!
Spanky
@Schlemazel: (Shhh. I think Baud’s still trying to pull it off.)
@Major Major Major Major: Seen Bill O’Reilly over there yet? We hear he’s “on vacation”.
OzarkHillbilly
@?BillinGlendaleCA: I already do.
Major Major Major Major
@Spanky: I can’t say I’ve been to Soi Cowboy and I avoided the loofah stalls at MBK, so no.
OzarkHillbilly
@?BillinGlendaleCA: Pic #4 is especially nice.
Major Major Major Major
@OzarkHillbilly: I like #5 but I’m a sucker for valleys.
Alain the site fixer
Not sure what the Flickr issue was or is as they looked ok last night and so so now???
?BillinGlendaleCA
@Major Major Major Major: Thanks.
@Baud: But they all look alike.
@OzarkHillbilly: We had hope for better weather, but the basin being covered by clouds look nice. I’m going to try to head back up, not all the way to Mt. Lowe but down the road to Inspiration Point, when we get a really clear day.
?BillinGlendaleCA
@Major Major Major Major: That’s Bear Canyon, it’s more of a valley in the foreground, but narrows into a pretty steep canyon as it goes west.
Major Major Major Major
@?BillinGlendaleCA: now I’m curious what the exact difference is. I’ll bet the USGS has one. Grade/width or something maybe.
Baud
@?BillinGlendaleCA: No they don’t. All different.
?BillinGlendaleCA
@Major Major Major Major: The valleys I can think of around here are miles wide.
Major Major Major Major
@?BillinGlendaleCA: in San Francisco we have valleys that are… not miles wide. But then again we also have localized weather patterns to the block.
OzarkHillbilly
@?BillinGlendaleCA: Looks to me like you had perfect weather, but I like things on the cool side.
?BillinGlendaleCA
@OzarkHillbilly: The problem wasn’t the temperature, it was the clouds covering the view of the basin. On a clear day you’d be able to see the channel islands from there(all of them).
rikyrah
I love your pictures Bill. I have seen so much of California since following you and your picture links??
Elizabelle
Hola buds, from Malaga. Cerveza time. Was on a Segway today. No one was killed.
Elizabelle
How do we know it’s Bill? Proof of life. Tatts.
?BillinGlendaleCA
@Elizabelle: You can’t see my tats when I’m hiking, my boots cover them.
Denali
@Elizabelle,
Are you going to
Cordoba and Ronda? Highly recommend. I wish we had made it to Grenada. Enjoy the olives!
If you are in Madrid, don’t miss the
Basque Tapas place across from the Hotel Emperor!

Why am I in moderation?
