Gov. John Kasich calls Congress "totally dysfunctional": "Do I think they can do anything on guns? I hope they prove me wrong and they can, because I have no confidence in them" #CNNSOTU https://t.co/CnU1ehOkoy
— CNN (@CNN) February 18, 2018
Sounds like he’s whatever kind of “guy” he needs to be on any given day. Fuck him, and mark your calendars for March 24.
Dorothy A. Winsor (formerly Iowa Old Lady)
If congress is dysfunctional, it’s what the Rs have made it. They make it through their votes, through their Supreme Court appointments that gut campaign regulation, through what Chris Hayes called Trump TV. They don’t believe in government. They believe in money.
JPL
@Dorothy A. Winsor (formerly Iowa Old Lady): It’s always about the money. The students are determined to make donations from the NRA toxic, and it just might work.
At this point Kasich has nothing to lose and intends to work on the state level to enact stricter laws. Let’s see if he does.

Kasich is, and always has been, an asshole.
Dorothy A. Winsor (formerly Iowa Old Lady)
Seriously we need to say over and over again, they sold children’s lives for campaign money and they want to keep doing it.

It could be that the A from the NRA isn’t incompatible with the views Kasich means to announce in that clip. Maybe they went to commercial before he could give his followup:
(continuation not aired): “Clearly we’ll only be safe when everyone in America has a Glock, and is required by law to carry it, loaded and with the safety off, at all times. And I just don’t see the cowards in Congress as having the guts to pass that common-sense law.”

What an opportunist.
Dorothy A. Winsor (formerly Iowa Old Lady)
IMHO, saying “Congress” is dysfunctional is a version of both siderism.

@Dorothy A. Winsor (formerly Iowa Old Lady):
Yes, and a lot of people fall for it. Let’s always be clear: It’s not ‘America’ or ‘Congress’ that is the cause of our horrible laws. It’s Republicans, period. Democrats would have fixed all this shit by now if Republicans didn’t have enough power to obstruct everything good and sometimes enact the horrible.

@Lee Hartmann:
Absolutely. Kasich is the Face of Smarm that is the GOP.
His latest is that he wants the governor to be in charge of state education (even though he’s out of office later this year). This comes from the man who pimped for ECOT*, who was caught stealing $60,000,000 from Ohio taxpayers and refuses to return it.

@Dorothy A. Winsor (formerly Iowa Old Lady): I agree.
It’s Republicans in Congress. People don’t like it when I correct them, but it’s true.
When you have to reach to #41 to hit the first Democrat on the list of biggest NRA bloodmoney recipients ….

Heh. Being that I am a close neighbor to OH and Kasich is actually from the area, I am not impressed with his pandering style. I know who he is. And what he is is full of shit.
Roger Moore
@Dorothy A. Winsor (formerly Iowa Old Lady):
This. A more accurate version would be that the Republicans have made Congress dysfunctional.

I mentioned that after the shooting, someone on the nextdoor community posted a comment about how to keep our children safe. Several mentioned that politicians who take money from the NRA should be voted out. Of course, Karen Handel took money from the NRA and hopefully this time we can flip the sixth.
The students are organizing a march in Washington on March 24th. Trump will probably be hiding in Mar-a-Lago , per usual.

I want Dem pols to start bragging about their F grades from the NRA. Advertise it like it’s something of which to be proud—because it is.

As I just responded to John on twitter, (who posted that he had been in the military for a decade and hadn’t touched a gun since). I was in the Navy for 14 years, there were times when I had to carry and fire a gun (never in anger) and I hated it. Even living in the US I banned guns from my house, we didn’t own one and no one visiting my home was allowed to carry one. I knew some very nice people who did, but they all knew if they came to my house their gun had to stay home. Guns are made to kill, period. Whether it is killing for hunting purposes or killing for other reasons. I knew a lot of hunters, I didn’t agree with them, and if someone gave me a boat load of Venison (which my husbands student’s familes frequently did) I wouldn’t complain. I have no problems with someone using a shotgun or a rifle to hunt (my uncle was an avid hunter), but anyone who insists that they need an AR15 to hunt needs to take up fucking knitting because they obviously can’t hunt worth a shit. AR15s are made to kill as many human beings as fast as possible. THAT is their only purpose, and anyone who argues against this is delusional at best and dangerous at worst. The most sane decision I ever made was to move back to the UK. After Dunblane we said fuck this shit and banned them except for hunting (and even then they have to be stored in a registered gun club and signed out when you intended to go hunting) There are exceptions of course, farmers have the right to have guns for the sole purpose of protecting their livestock but no one, absolutely no one has the right to stash an arsenal of weapons of war in their home. Thank the FSM for sanity.

Dolt45 has gone so fucking nuts on Twitter he for sure has to have colluded. Also too, last year during Sessions’ Senate appearance one of the nightly talk shows made a crack about how nobody thought it was strange to have so many Russians at the RNC. Can we revisit this? You have all these 50+ years aged Americans backstage at the RNC and they didn’t think it was odd to have so many Russians there. People who grew up during the Cold War didn’t think all these Russians were strange.

Governor, the trick is to drink codeine cough syrup an hour before meeting NRA lobbyists. That way your throat will be numb and more willingly accept the copious ejaculata.

Mistermix,
Yes, fuck John Kasich, but fuck you too for not answering my email notes you fucking cocksucker. And fuck your stupid goddamn screen name.

Seems more accurate in past tense. The present face of the GOP is more in the snarling Nazi mode. Because Kasich keeps the quiet parts quiet and sticks to the old school dog whistle, I can’t see him generating the Russian support that is essential to getting a GOP nomination.

Does RNC stand for Republican National Committee or Russian National Committee? I think the jury is out on this one.
Cheryl from Maryland
@Litlebritdifrnt: This. I had many relatives who were hunters (mainly duck and mainly black powder), and they ate what they shot. One of the best meals in my life was in Whitby, UK, where I had an exquisite wild wood pigeon meal (complete with some shot still in the breast which I have saved). But an AR-15 for hunting means the hunter can’t shoot well and the food isn’t edible. This is power for the sake of power, which means something else rather than hunting. Also, Kasich is an opportunist asshole.
WaterGirl
@Ruckus: Which one? Russian National Committee gets my vote.
Ohio Mom
I wish my governor would stop running for president. That’s all this is, him keeping his profile up.
He’s all upset about the debt but did you hear a word about how awful the cutbacks the Republicans are proposing would be? No. Despite his “I’m reasonable” shtick, he is still a Republican through and through.
When his term as governor is up, I want him to retire from public office. Maybe he can go back to being a commentator on Fox. He can tsk-tsk all he wants there. I don’t watch, so I wouldn’t have to see him again.
WaterGirl
@Ohio Mom: i know, it’s so obvious. He is clearly running in 2020, and he would totally suck.

@Litlebritdifrnt: Anyone who thinks they need an AR-15 to hunt shouldn’t be allowed within a mile of a deer, a gun, or even a tree.

@Ohio Mom: I remember when Kasich was the Paul Ryan of the nineties, green-shade deficit hawk and all that shit, and I despise him. But if he runs against trump in 2020– not for president, but the way Nader ran against Gore and Wilmer ran against Clinton– he’d be doing a service.

Russo-Republican National Committee. Formerly the Republican National Committee, but now totally owned and controlled by the Russian branch of the greater Russo-Republican community.
Kasich is a Russo-Republican, Trump is a Russo-Republican, and Pence is a Russo-Republican. Not all Republicans, ya know? But the high profile guys, they’re all Russo-Republicans. Same political philosophy, same economic aims, same hatreds, same same.
