Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Welcome to day five of every-bit-as-bad-as-you-thought-it-would-be.

They fucked up the fucking up of the fuckup!

Boeing: repeatedly making the case for high speed rail.

Well, whatever it is, it’s better than being a Republican.

Someone should tell Republicans that violence is the last refuge of the incompetent, or possibly the first.

JFC, are there no editors left at that goddamn rag?

A norm that restrains only one side really is not a norm – it is a trap.

Since we are repeating ourselves, let me just say fuck that.

I desperately hope that, yet again, i am wrong.

Republicans choose power over democracy, every day.

The worst democrat is better than the best republican.

“woke” is the new caravan.

Stop using mental illness to avoid talking about armed white supremacy.

Only Democrats have agency, apparently.

Trumpflation is an intolerable hardship for every American, and it’s Trump’s fault.

Relentless negativity is not a sign that you are more realistic.

Perhaps you mistook them for somebody who gives a damn.

They traffic in fear. it is their only currency. if we are fearful, they are winning.

Many life forms that would benefit from greater intelligence, sadly, do not have it.

If America since Jan 2025 hasn’t broken your heart, you haven’t loved her enough.

Text STOP to opt out of updates on war plans.

I would try pessimism, but it probably wouldn’t work.

The media handbook says “controversial” is the most negative description that can be used for a Republican.

Innocent people do not delay justice.

Have a wonderful day, and enjoy the pictures. Today we conclude our trip up North!

Today, pictures from valued commenter FerdfromtheNort.

Sometimes you just need to turn around and see the other way.

Got sunset? Turn around.
Got stained glass? Where does the light go?

Assiniboine River, Winnipeg

Typical sunset shot.

Then you turn around.

Same time, same place – Winnipeg

Yeah. this loads on the tool upside down, but I hope it can be fixed.

Two photos, less than a minute apart.

A Church in southern Poland

A satin table cover. Stained glass. Light. Always look at where the light goes.

This is not a greatly interesting photograph. But it is just as my phone recorded it. No photoshop to get light effects like these.

Outside Arviat

Mid afternoon sunset. One way is sun and snow with sillouettes.

Arviat, Nunavut

Step back and look the other way. Totally different photo. To me it does not look nearly as cold.

Thank you so much FerdfromtheNort, do send us more when you can.

Travel safely everybody, and do share some stories in the comments, even if you’re joining the conversation late. Many folks confide that they go back and read old threads, one reason these are available on the Quick Links menu.

One again, to submit pictures: Use the Form or Send an Email

I like the one with the human bundled up in the parka and the dogs running around in their bare feet all happy.

It’s always about the light. I love the silhouette shot in particular, though I’m happy not to be there.

    Just a couple of notes.
    To introduce the Pack:
Big white dog – Angnaq (Inuktitut for Girl)
Furry shorter tail – Sarai (died last month, rescue dog, see earlier photo collection)
Middle dog (not seen in last photo) – Pransr (kid who named him really bad at spelling), rescue dog and pure DAWG

    And of course the wife.

Second, The satin cover photo is actually up-side down as shown. So it goes…

Beautiful shots, and what great reminders — Follow the light. Turn around.

    @OzarkHillbilly: Exactly.

Great advice to both look where the light goes and turn around.

Thanks so much for the beauty, FFTN
