Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

You cannot shame the shameless.

Insiders who complain to politico: please report to the white house office of shut the fuck up.

Make the republican party small enough to drown in a bathtub.

“Look, it’s not against the rules anywhere, but a black woman with power was dating and there has to be something wrong with that.”

It’s always darkest before the other shoe drops.

… pundit janitors mopping up after the gop

People are complicated. Love is not.

In my day, never was longer.

I conferred with the team and they all agree – still not tired of winning!

Teach a man to fish, and he’ll sit in a boat all day drinking beer.

This isn’t Democrats spending madly. This is government catching up.

Second rate reporter says what?

No one could have predicted…

The arc of history bends toward the same old fuckery.

Bark louder, little dog.

Something needs to be done about our bogus SCOTUS.

Our job is not to persuade republicans but to defeat them.

Authoritarian republicans are opposed to freedom for the rest of us.

In after Baud. Damn.

The party of Reagan has become the party of Putin.

Putin dreamed of ending NATO, and now it’s Finnish-ed.

Republican speaker of the house Mike Johnson is the bland and smiling face of evil.

I’m pretty sure there’s only one Jack Smith.

Too often we hand the biggest microphones to the cynics and the critics who delight in declaring failure.

Open Thread: Possible NYC Meet-Up?

Query from faithful commentor NotMax:

Checking on interest in a NYC area meet-up.

Shall be arriving in the area July 23, leaving August 7. Only date I
know of at this point which might be iffy is the 28th.

Would be satisfied with the same spot as last year as it is convenient to all mass transit, but certainly not married to the idea.

Possible dates, time and location all subject to jackal recommendations, consensus and convenience; please, please chime in.

Lurkers, friends & companions welcome, as always. Leave a comment, or email me and I’ll forward your message to NotMax.

RedDirtGirl and I have been emailing about maybe setting one up in July. I am un-free the 19th-21st and 28th+.

Maybe 26th/27th? Happy to show up early and help set up.

I’m in. Had a great time last year. Tir Na Nog is exceedingly convenient for me (in fact, I just met a friend there yesterday), but whatever works for people.

Looking forward to seeing y’all again!

Note that July 26th is the birthday of the US Post Office, George Bernard Shaw, Aldous Huxley, Mick Jagger, and myself ;-)

I’m always up for something if I’m around (may need to travel for work at some point, but that’s a bit up in the air, so obviously don’t plan around me!)
