I thought we’d better get another one of these threads going before the 12-15 year-olds storm the gates. (vaccine gates)
As soon as the CDC says the word, we’ll have a special thread to celebrate with all the BJ peeps who have 12-15 year-olds in their lives.
If you need to find a place to get the COVID vaccine, just text your zipcode to 438829. You’ll get locations near you where you can get vaccinated! Text to VACUNA (822862) for Spanish. (lifted from a tweet by Ron Klein, who should know what he is talking about.)
Or go to https://www.vaccines.gov
For Canadian readers, if you’re looking for a shot, vaccinehunters.ca is doing incredible work to highlight locations with available appointments.
Tell me which stickers you want, so I can sticker you!

If you are still waiting for access to the vaccine, these stickers may be for you!
As always, pairing this thread with another one.

I’m getting my 2nd shot in… 55 minutes. So I’ll be back and asking for a sticker soon. :)
Mike in NC
Wife reports a lot of gas stations are either closed or have long lines. Thanks to Putin, we’re experiencing some 1970s nostalgia.
pacem appellant
The preteen is excited for their Pfizer eligibility! The other kiddo isn’t old enough yet and is bummed. The younger one wanted to volunteer to be in the study and told their pediatrician as such. Made me so proud! (They aren’t eligible for the trial for reasons, :-( )
WaterGirl
@MisterForkbeard: Yay!
WaterGirl
@pacem appellant: That’s very brave. You should be proud!
pacem appellant
@Mike in NC: Is this just as east coast phenom? No lines here on the left coast.
Steve in the ATL
Ugh I’m so sick of the 12-15 year olds posting here!
Got my second last week. Looking forward to going to packed bars, stadiums, and airports in a few days!
Not really. I’m not that stupid. Really.
WaterGirl
@Steve in the ATL: Just because we behave like 12-15 year-olds doesn’t mean we are that age, you know.
May I offer you a sticker? We don’t have any that say “down with unions, but I got the shot anyway”, but surely there’s at least one you might like? :-)
WaterGirl
@Steve in the ATL: I read that broadway will be opening up at 100% capacity.
Horrifying. I guess I am on the “not so fast” end of the continuum.
Steve in the ATL
@WaterGirl: I’ll take joe in his Vette!
Chief Oshkosh
Watergirl, did you just bigfoot yourself? Did your call to call Senators post just come out 5 mins ago.
Man, I can’t keep up with you kids…
WaterGirl
@Chief Oshkosh: From the post up top:
I always try to pair the I Got the Shot! threads with another thread since the topic is so specific.
Amalthea1
I got my second shot on the 29th (Pfizer), and in two days I’ll be officially fully vaccinated! What a relief!
Penelope sticker, please!
lowtechcyclist
I got my second shot at the end of March, my wife got hers a week ago, and the kiddo (age 13) can’t get vaxxed yet, but maybe later this week…
Mike in NC
@pacem appellant: Yes, applies to the eastern half of the country. Glad to be retired with no daily commute to deal with.
WaterGirl
@lowtechcyclist: What stickers would you like?
I am guessing that MazeDancer is already at work on some special stickers for the 12-15 group.
WaterGirl
@Mike in NC: Why would a gas shortage only happen in part of the country?
zhena gogolia
@WaterGirl:
A pipeline got a ransom attack.
Catherine D.
@WaterGirl: Broadway reopening is planned for (mid?) September. Not so scary as May or June.
I actually was in person with my office mate yesterday for the first time since last March, but since we were both vaccinated and masked and natural born hermits, it was OK ? And the crisis in the lab that brought us in at the same time wasn’t as horrible as we thought.
nevsky42
Hit full vaccination on Sunday, and the kiddo is looking forward to her upcoming shot.
Gotta go with Joe. ;)
WaterGirl
@zhena gogolia: oh, wow. missed that. thanks
WaterGirl
@Catherine D.: win-win!
JPL
@Steve in the ATL: Did you get the pamphlet, aka news trash from the anti-vaxxers? The local ABC Station mentioned it on air. The one I received had an article from a mother of three in Alpharetta about masks are bad. Marjorie Taylor Greene is a mother of three from Alpharetta .. just sayin link
MazeDancer
@WaterGirl:
Hard at work trying to find someone famous of whom I’ve never heard, of course, with vaccine relevance.
WaterGirl
@MazeDancer: Ha! I should have known. I was expecting cute, to appeal to 12-15. And me, of course. :-)
dmsilev
@WaterGirl:
I got an email this morning saying that the Hollywood Bowl would be open this summer at nearly full capacity…
…for vaccinated people.
Unvaxxed are exiled to a couple of (socially distanced) sections, and still have to provide a negative test to get in.
Brachiator
A statement from an earlier post really has me feeling hopeful.
People who get vaccinated over the summer can feel as though they are actively participating in a strategy to deal with the pandemic.
Chief Oshkosh
@WaterGirl: Ah. Like I said, I can’t keep up.
FWIW, I got the shots a while ago. I want the Biden-inna-Vette sticker, please. I don’t even know what that means, but all the cool kids are asking for it.
Quiltingfool
Get my 2nd Moderna tomorrow! Got the call confirming my appointment this morning!
WaterGirl
@dmsilev:
I am all for that!
WaterGirl
@Chief Oshkosh: Definitely a run on Bidens in this thread!
Gravenstone
@Mike in NC: Think it’s a combination of factors. For areas serviced by the affected pipeline, that’s one thing. I also saw an article a couple of weeks ago warning of potential lack of gas due to a significant shortage of tanker drivers. The pipeline will eventually get resolved. Getting more trained drivers is going to be a more long term issue.
dmsilev
@WaterGirl: Yep, me too. It’s the sort of thing that will help prod the reluctant into getting their shots.
randy khan
Two days out from Pfizer #2 and no side effects. Also no improved 5G coverage, so I’d be bummed if I had a 5G phone.
Major Major Major Major
@WaterGirl:

@Major Major Major Major:
I totally missed the vaccine passport part. I feel much better now!

Got my 2nd Pfizer shot 2 weeks ago. Fully vaccinated!
(Woof! Woof! sticker, please.)
I complimented the efficiency of my vaccination site last time. This time there was a line. It took around 40 minutes to get to the sign-in station. There was only one person working sign-in, as opposed to 2 people there last time. As far as I know, everyone had to have an appointment for their shot, so it wasn’t a matter of them not knowing how many people to expect.
With the first shot, I had a very sore arm (for a few days), fatigue the first day, & headaches that came & went for the first few days. This time, I hydrated & moved my vaccinated arm around frequently. Only had mild arm soreness & no other symptoms.
A woman from anywhere (formerly Mohagan)
@pacem appellant: I saw a map of where the affected pipeline was, and it was all East Coast. So no, I don’t think East Coast is affected, at least not directly. Maybe shortages will spill over, but it sounds like they are getting it back online pretty quickly.
Miss Bianca
Now at my “two-week past” date with my second shot (Moderna). Just in time for summer madness…
Major Major Major Major
@WaterGirl: Yay! Yeah, I think there’s a good chance NY will be using our passport app extensively.
MisterForkbeard
Just got my 2nd shot (followed by a quick trip to the Farmer’s Market to get strawberries and a fresh bbq’d chicken for lunch). It’s a great day. Can I get a Biden ‘two shots’ sticker?
Steeplejack (phone)
@Mike in NC:
I filled up the doughty Kia yesterday (it was due anyway), and the guy at my BP station said he didn’t know how they would be affected but they were good for about two weeks based on current supply. Might change if there’s a “run,” I guess.
WaterGirl
@Miss Bianca: I don’t have a horse sticker for you, but if another sticker will do, let me know which ones.
zhena gogolia
OT, I guess, but this Liz Cheney thing is depressing the hell out of me. It’s not that I’m any big fan of Cheney, but God. How crazy can they get?
WaterGirl
@zhena gogolia: Has she been voted out, or is that tomorrow?
It is an anonymous vote, as I understand it, so it seems like this could be a last stand for anyone sane who is still a Republican.
mrmoshpotato
@zhena gogolia:
Do we really want this answer? :)
Steve in the ATL
@JPL: no, thank goodness! My area must getting too liberal, which would be a pleasant change.
Chief Oshkosh
@WaterGirl: He’s da Man wit da Plan! Although, he’s clearly doddering along doing whatever Kamela tells him to do. Some people don’t like that, but I think it’s one of his better qualities. ;)
Thanks for the sticker. I feel special. :)
zhena gogolia
@WaterGirl:
It’s tomorrow, but everyone seems to be treating it as a fait accompli.
Mo MacArbie
#2 this morning, business still booming in the community center in central NC. Nancy Smash me, por favor.

@Major Major Major Major:
I hope the state starts using the vaccine passport app for lots of things. I am excited about the idea of having a vaccine passport. My husband is not. He seems to think this is a violation of his privacy, and he felt the same way about the random Covid testing he had to take last year for the college classes he was taking. This is not drug testing. This is not opening up his medical records & letting any random person take a peak. This is info regarding one, very contagious, very deadly virus. Hubby is fully vaxed, wears masks, yet has this knee-jerk reaction against vaccine passports.
JPL
@zhena gogolia: Marjorie Taylor Greene is going to try to prevent her replacement from being voted on at the same time. I assume Greene doesn’t think Stefanik is wacky enough.
Jeffro
Is this the right thread to start yukking it up about both Don Jr’s (now) ex-wife and Tiffany trumpov “dating” Secret Service agents? (um on their own…separately…not jointly…oh you know what I mean)
Also, I see Joni Ernst is siding with Liz Cheney. Will wonders never cease.
WaterGirl
@Mo MacArbie: You have been smashed!
Steve in the ATL
@zhena gogolia: except that *those people* would never use a French phrase!
WaterGirl
@Jeffro:
Absolutely!
Lacuna Synecdoche
Well, I got my second Pfizer shot two weeks ago, on April 27 – which means, as of today, I am officially fully vaccinated.
No sticker, please. Just posted it because I wanted a record that I’m now fully vaccinated.
WaterGirl
@Lacuna Synecdoche: Congratulations!
I believe that a comment posted on Balloon Juice is as good as a vaccine passport. :-)

@Major Major Major Major:
And from what I hear on the Sirius XM Broadway channel, the openings are going to be serial, so it won’t all open up at once.
Chris Johnson
baby champ picture ENABLE. First of two Moderna shots, GOT :)
wooohoo! So far I’m feeling a big fat nothing as far as side-effects.
Suzanne
Spawn the Elder got Pfizer #2 last Monday. He would adore Tikka.
EighthCousin
Tikka please-and-thank-you. Got both shots (Moderna) in March/April.
Posting late because…shy/lurker.
Nutmeg again
Just for curiosity–can you easily figure how many individuals have recorded at least a first shot on any of the (16) pages? It would give some sense of the size of participatory audience. cheers!
WaterGirl
@EighthCousin: Now that you’ve posted, don’t be a stranger!
WaterGirl
@Nutmeg again: Not an easy way. :-(
Manual counting of those wouldn’t catch all the people that mention their shots in other threads.
Ceci n est pas mon nym
Already got my stickers when I checked in after my shot Saturday (Pfizer #2). Just updating to report that I did have a few symptoms on Sunday that kept me from doing much useful. But they were overall pretty mild — soreness and fatigue, and paradoxically trouble falling asleep Sunday night. Totally gone by Monday.
Scout211
For Californians: The state’s My Turn website will start scheduling appointments for 12-15 year olds this Thursday.
Comrade Colette
Can I get a sticker for Colette jeune (17), who gets his second shot tomorrow? I think he’s a Steve fan.
He was eager to get vaxxed when he became eligible so I was surprised when he told me today that he’d initially been quite worried about it. He said that “the whole thing” (I think he meant the development and approval process) seemed to happen so fast that he didn’t see how we could be sure it was OK and safe, but that he paid close attention after mass vaccinations started and the news was reassuring, so he wanted to go for it. I had no idea he was paying close attention to anything other than pizza, COD, and the Warriors.
TMinSJ
I got my second shot on the 30th, so just days away from being fully cooked!
I’ll take a Himesama sticker please. Love that face ;)
Yet Another Haldane
I got my second Moderna jab this morning! Stick me with Steve, please!
The nearest available appointments when I signed up a month ago were in Granite Falls, a town of about 3000 souls living a three-hour drive west of my home in the Twin Cities. There are many plaques downtown commemorating Prohibition; Andrew Volstead lived in Granite Falls and is buried there. The town’s name is surprisingly accurate: they have both granite and a waterfall. Today there was a flock of pelicans hanging out below the falls, maybe fishing but looking bored.
It’s a good day.
Chris Johnson
I was fretting, but not over the shot. I was fretful that there would be anti-vax terrorists at the hospital to harass me and others.
I’m in Vermont. Uh, nope. No sign of any crazies, and it was a really nice crowd being vaccinated: just the most American thing you could picture, a lovely cross section of all sorts of people getting their shot quite amicably and then sitting around for 15 minutes afterward to the silliest oldies station: Pina Colada Song, YMCA, Kung Fu Fighting and out :) I don’t know when hospital radio went full cheese, but it was an interesting 15 minutes!

Second shot on May 2. And a lot of sleeping on May 3. The cats approved.
Steve, please.
