Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Putin must be throwing ketchup at the walls.

This blog will pay for itself.

The revolution will be supervised.

Whoever he was, that guy was nuts.

Republicans are radicals, not conservatives.

Nothing worth doing is easy.

Imperialist aggressors must be defeated, or the whole world loses.

He really is that stupid.

This has so much WTF written all over it that it is hard to comprehend.

A sufficient plurality of insane, greedy people can tank any democratic system ever devised, apparently.

Since when do we limit our critiques to things we could do better ourselves?

I did not have this on my fuck 2022 bingo card.

Today’s GOP: why go just far enough when too far is right there?

The next time the wall street journal editorial board speaks the truth will be the first.

Prediction: the GOP will rethink its strategy of boycotting future committees.

Sitting here in limbo waiting for the dice to roll

A last alliance of elves and men. also pet photos.

Jesus, Mary, & Joseph how is that election even close?

We are aware of all internet traditions.

Meanwhile over at truth Social, the former president is busy confessing to crimes.

They traffic in fear. it is their only currency. if we are fearful, they are winning.

Only Democrats have agency, apparently.

You don’t get rid of your umbrella while it’s still raining.

Take hopelessness and turn it into resilience.

At their show in Philly last night, Jason and his band, the 400 Unit, played the first single off the album – R.E.M.’s “Driver 8”.

Great track. Great cover.

Oh, and it was a great show.

I’ll be buying Georgia Blue the day it drops.

Breaking my heart… I have been wanting to see Jason and co. for years and I finally have tickets for later this week. The show is indoors and I just can’t bring myself to go.
We have young unvaccinated kids in the house that we don’t want to bring the virus home to. Even though the venue is being diligent about vaccine/test requirements, I figure there will be some Delta covid in the auditorium somewhere.
Anyone in Boston want our 2 tickets?

They switched over in 1975. Nobody under the age of retirement will even know how it works.

It sounds like they still sell a lot of things in traditional sizes, e.g. pints of beer. They were still allowed to label them with the Imperial measurement, but they also had to be labeled in metric. Now it will be legal to mark them only in Imperial units. FWIW, this is worse than the US, where you still have to include the metric units on everything.

    @Benw:

Ludacris saved the day for Georgia by performing at the Bulldogs’ spring game last Saturday after a number of country acts turned down the Dawgs. Before Georgia took the field, the Atlanta hip-hop artist performed a 15-minute medley of songs to the delight of the 93,000 in attendance at Sanford Stadium.

You might ask yourself, how much does a 15-minute Ludacris performance cost?

Well, if you’re Georgia, it costs you $65,000 plus fulfilling Luda’s hospitality rider, according to the contract obtained by Macon.com using an open records request.

    What’s a hospitality rider?

It’s the list of other required purchases and assorted amenities for the artist. For Ludacris, that rider included dinner for 10 people with grilled chicken, chicken wings, pasta, brown rice, mixed vegetables, fruit salad, mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes (or the option for UGA to pay $40 per person for his crew instead of providing them dinner).

The dinner is not the most interesting part of Ludacris’ hospitality rider, however. That is the list of things that must be provided in his dressing room.

The list is quite long (you can view the contract in full here), but here are some of the highlights:

1 loaf of whole grain bread, organic creamy peanut butter and organic grape or strawberry jelly (In case the dinner wasn’t enough, I guess.)
1 Crest Spin rechargeable toothbrush and Crest toothpaste (Got to keep the teeth clean.)
1 box of Fruit Roll-Ups (You’ve got to get your fruit snack on, sometimes.)
    6 Hanes Large White T-Shirts
1 box of Trojan Magnum Condoms, Ecstasy (Naturally.)
2 Jo Malone candles, Gardenia scent (The room has to smell good.)
    2 bottles of Belvedere Vodka
2 bottles of Conjure Cognac (This is impressive finessing to force the people paying you to perform to purchase your brand of cognac for you. That’s how you get extra money.)
    2 bottles of Patron Silver
2 packs of AA and AAA batteries (Always be prepared.)
2 cases of Snapple (That’s a lot of Snapple.)
1 small Secret Deodorant (I stand with Ludacris on #TeamLadiesDeodorant. It’s far superior.)

People laugh and make fun of musicians and their dressing room requirements like this…

But touring on the road for months, even if otherwise luxe accomodations, having stuff you like around in your dressing room is worth that laughter, if you ask me.

    ===========================================

And as far as other acts stealing a show, many years ago we went to  see Stevie Ray Vaughn, so you know how long ago it had to be. The opener was a blues act, a guy named Lonnie Mack, I had never heard of him, which may say more about me in a small town.

He totally stole that night from Stevie Ray, was a great show, we were all shocked by the contrast with the headliner act, which was not electric at all.  You would think that after a few shows, Stevie Ray would wake up and start killing his show too… maybe.
