    And just FTR, Modell would never have left Cleveland if The Powers That Were In The Mistake By The Lake hadn’t swindled him by handing him a dilapidated stadium that could only work financially with revenue from the MLB team and concerts as tenants – and then building the baseballers a brand new stadium and concert venue to undercut him. The whole sordid operation was aimed at forcing Modell (a dedicated owner without an independent source of income) to sell the football team to someone with deep pockets who could buy Cleveland fans a Super Bowl – never suspecting that he had a Plan B for Bawlmer. Well, The Mistake By The Lake has had its team name, colors, logos and history back for the last 25 years, and you are welcome to them – unlike Baltimore fans who saw our beloved Colts leave in the middle of the night and expropriated by an upstart city while we waited 12 years for another franchise and had to take the Browns because the NFL wouldn’t allow us an expansion franchise, no matter how attractive our bids were.

    BTW how have the new Brownies been working out for yinz? I see it took a former Ravens QB to get you into the dance this year…  :^p

    If the Chief’s win then MAGA heads will explode because it will be the Taylor Swift Superbowl.  But Baltimore (and MD) is a far more blue city than Kansas City (and MO).

    In the NFC, both Detroit and San Francisco are blue cities in blue states.  But I feel like Detroit needs it more than San Francisco.  On the other hand, San Francisco is the nearest NFL team to me other than the Seahawks so I’ve always been a quasi-niners fan.

    Thankfully there is no Dallas (or any other southern team) left standing.  Which was also true of the Washington vs. Michigan college football championship for the first time in a long time.

    The Seahawks are owned by the Paul Allen Trust which is run by Jody Allen who is pretty low-key and donates a lot of money to liberal causes and stuff like education and cancer research.  I’m not sure I’d put her in the asshole owner category.

    The Chiefs color scheme is the same as my high school so I spent my HS days playing football in what were essentially Chief’s replica uniforms (as the Chiefs dressed in the 1980s).  So I always have a soft spot for red and white with yellow accents.  It is a pretty unusual color scheme.  Only Iowa State does it at the college level in the Big 5 conferences.  USC is close, but they are more burgundy than red.  And yellow is their secondary color not white, so they do the yellow pants thing.

    Last night a friend I had not seen in a while was in the area and invited me out to dinner. We went to have an evening of dim sum. I thought about taking pictures and making a few notes, but the food and company were so delightful that I couldn’t be worried about it.

    But two dishes stood out. Baked BBQ Pork bun. And Pan-Fried Baby Bok Choy W/Garlic Sauce. Goddam double yum.

    But if they get there, Taylor Swift reportedly plans to be in Las Vegas for the big game.

    NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported on Sunday that Swift, despite having a concert in Japan the night before Super Bowl LVIII, plans to fly directly to Las Vegas to watch Travis Kelce and the Chiefs if they are in the game.

    As a long-suffering Cubs / Bears fan, I’m really rooting for Detroit.  I KNOW the misery of having a team that never (rarely) makes it to the big game.  The Niners have had their chances.  :-) On the other side, Ravens all day.  I absolutely adore Roquan Smith and would love to see him play in a SB.  Same for David Montgomery of the Lions.

    Adding a totally unpopular opinion:  I detest all of the Taylor Swift stuff – drives me nuts, and I’m nowhere near either male or MAGA.  She should get the same treatment as Simone Biles when she’s at her husband’s game.

    How the hell can you despise Andy Reid? He had a fantastic run in Philly and is arguably the best head coach of the new century. Sure, Belichick won six with Brady, but Reid has been to 10 championships games (currently six straight with KFC, and he led the Eagles to four straight as well) with two different teams and two vastly different quarterbacks he’s taken his teams to five SBs and won two, and he’s never finished second in the AFC West since he landed in KC. He did nothing to earn hate from Eagles fans.

    On the other hand, I’m still trying to digest the news that Jürgen Klopp is leaving Liverpool at the end of the season. He’s gonna be impossible to replace.

    I don’t know the answer to that but on regular season games they just start at the game time.  I think on the Conference Championships, the second game will start after the first one ends. It rarely happens, though.
