At least his mom can feel assured that John is not meeting up with weirdos he has met online when he goes out of town. That sort of thing is very reassuring to a mother. I know I would not want my baby meeting up with a snarling mass of vitriolic jackals.

If the question is whether any city besides Baltimore has had two schools win national championships in the same sport, the answer is clearly “yes.” I can think of three immediately: Los Angeles, Washington, and Raleigh.
USC and UCLA have both won national championships in football, women’s basketball, baseball, men’s and women’s volleyball, and men’s tennis.
Georgetown won the D1 men’s basketball championship in 1984, and UDC won the D2 championship in 1982.
NC State has won two D1 championships in men’s basketball, and Shaw is the current D2 champion.
BC and BU’s hockey championships don’t count. BC is in Chestnut Hill.
LaSalle and Villanova’s men’s basketball championships similarly don’t count. Nova is in the burbs.

College Park is “an hour” away from B’more? Not so. Maybe in the most intensive traffic of the rush, but more like 45 minutes, with luck, less.
We live on C…Hill in the DC, and fly outta the BWI reg/like . . . and wouldn’t say “an hour” to get home, by car . . .
