A Thought

After getting hammered for a few weeks on the fact you are so rich you don’t know how many houses you have, it might make it tough for McCain to make multi-millionaire Mitt Romney his running mate.

Which really sucks for bloggers everywhere. Consider this an open thread.

May be. But un-rich wingnut politicians don’t exactly grow on trees. He may have to bite the silver bullet on his choice.

Since the semester is starting soon for those of us in academia, here’s a subject for discussion. How do you deal with electronic distractions in the classroom? Apparently some schools are providing their students with either iPhones or iPod Touches to their incoming students.

I doubt that he was going to pick Romney anyway. Mitt’s money will be of no use after the convention.

Kathleen Sebelius is supposed to be on “Face the Nation” this Sunday. Does that effectively take her out of the running, or does this really not make a difference, since they could find someone at the last minute?

And how cool would it have been to have Obama say to reporters, “You’d like to know who the pick will be? Go sign up at barackobama.com.”?

    The latest Wingnut ThreatDown.

It involves ocean going freighters, advance missile technology (maybe from AQ Khan) and mass chaos.

I think the congressional testimony on this one from July was just released today.

“McCain to make multi-millionaire Mitt Romney his running mate.”

Or for Obama to pick Kerry.

In my current dream ticket, Obama fools everbody and picks Clark, and says that time as a POW does not qualify a crummy flyboy to be President of the United States. A company in the industrial military complex that bribes people for it’s government contracts( sorry, that was Dick IV)!

Maybe, just maybe, there is something about being a fighter pilot that makes for a great warrior but a not so great pol.

-Duke Cunningham = First Vietnam ace now in jail for corruption.

-G.W. Bush = Texas air space defender now worst President in history.

-G.H.W. Bush = WWII hero pilot involved in many scandals (Iran Contra anyone)and a pretty crappy President.

-John Glenn = Fighter pilot and one of the Keating 5. (Odd that 2 of the five were fighter pilots).

-John McCain = Fighter pilot hotdog who crashed lots of aircraft. One of Keating 5 scandal.

Maybe it’s something in the way fighter pilots are wired. They must be ultra aggressive, use quick judgment and suppress their fears. They are viewed as Gods in the military and held to a different set of rules than everyone else. They are detached from the destruction their bombs and bullets produce unlike ground soldiers and marines so are thus more likely to have a favorable view of war in general. And even if it isn’t true for all, the stereotype that they are a little hotheaded is alive and well with all of the above except Glenn.

    Just a thought.

    Conservatively Liberal

    August 21, 2008 at 7:14 pm

Copied from my post in the ‘not open thread. ;) :

I thought I heard a blurb on MSNBC a second ago that said that two McCain campaign offices had received threatening letters with a ‘white powder’ in them. If this is true then are we to forget that the recipients of the first ‘white powder’ envelopes after 9-11 were liberals, not conservatives. Why would the target change now?

If this is true, this has the marks of a ‘black bag’ inside operation designed to make it look like liberals are trying to kill an important conservative. I am digging for more info about this and thought I would put it out there for others to look into. I could be wrong in what I heard regarding who was sent it, but I am sure that McCain’s campaign offices were mentioned as the two.

Yup, it was the McCain campaign offices that were sent the letters.

Given the unfortunate death of Tubbs Jones, perhaps Obama can use it to his advantage. He’s only 46, she was 58, while McCain is nearly 72. I can see the bumper sticker:

He was my first choice for the comedy too. If it’s not to be The Fearless Lifelong Varmit Hunter with his shiny new NRA card and building plans for Double Gitmo, then let it be recently married not-gay FL governor, Charlie Crist. He’s an October bathroom surprise just waiting to happen. Erick and the boyz at RedState along with others would get the vapors with that pick.

One last… the Limbaugh meltdown is almost hilarious. “The little black man-child”??? Is that like saying “boy” in that endearing traditional Southern traditional way?

Hell, I half-expect him to drop the N-bomb sometime between now and Election Day during one of his tirades…

MCCAIN OFFICE IN DENVER RECEIVES ENVELOPE WITH WHITE POWDER AND DEATH THREAT… DEVELOPING…

It was initially reported that the Denver letter contained an unknown white powder and a threatening message, but a fire department spokesman said there was no white powder, just a small amount of an unknown substance. The substance tested positive for protein, the official said.

It was a love letter from a psycho with a POW fetish, spooged up in Cheeto dust.

How do you deal with electronic distractions in the classroom?

The other students hate it too so I just stop and stare at the offender who turns red faced, apologizes and shuts the damned thing off. I knew a guy who insisted on answering the phone to tell the caller the person was in class and forgot to turn off the phone. But the strong stare works well for me.
