Has England been rightly booted from this tourney? I see the word “Europe” in the name, yet I see Brexit results…can we toss Wales and Ireland too?

One weird thing about this tournament is how all the heavy hitters ended up in the same bracket. Germany, Italy, France, England, and Spain are all competing for one spot in the finals (tough luck for Iceland and Ireland), while Switzerland, Poland, Croatia, Portugal, and Belgium are in the other.
I’d pick Portugal out of that lot, but they are the only team that managed to reach the knockout without recording a win. Maybe this is Belgium’s year?
I’ll be rooting for an Iceland vs. Northern Ireland final, but I’m guessing Germany vs. Belgium is more likely. Or Portugal vs. Spain. I have no idea really.

@Amir Khalid: Okay, I’ve been watching both big tournaments. Is Euro the one going straight to penalties after 90 minutes w/o the 2x 15 minute sessions?

@ThresherK:
Huh? As far as Ii know, they always play extra time first. In all tournaments, everywhere. The penalty shootout only happens if there is no winner after extra time.
That’s Copa. In the Euros first round draws were permitted

@ThresherK: No, the Euros play 30 minutes of extra time before going to penalties.
It’s the Copa Centenario you’re thinking of. They go straight to penalties after 90 minutes.

@Punchy: Wales yes, but the two Irelands and Scotland are going to form a greater Celtic Prosperity Sphere, both Northern Ireland and Scotland voted to remain in the EU, Wales, on the other hand, joined England in being dumbasses and voted to leave.

@Amir Khalid: I once watched an AHL hockey game (live and in person) where the goalies were Peter Sidorkiewicz (Binghamton Whalers) and Cleon Daskalakis (Rochester Americans) and I remember sitting in the stands wondering how this was playing on radio.

Good effort by the Swiss, Shaqiri’s equalizer was pretty damned nice.
