Time-lapse, bird’s-eye video shows thousands of protesters marching toward White House for action on climate change https://t.co/yoYEIbNWAO pic.twitter.com/jNpi7WceZi

I’m dutifully ignoring the Cheeto-In-Chief rally, though I saw a report there were actual skinheads in attendance.
The Climate March today, which I was only peripherally aware of, seems to have drawn quite a crowd. You can see some of the impact here.
Also, if you need a boost, I still highly recommend, Carbon Nation, a great little film on solutions to climate change from around the world.
What’s going on in your world tonight?
Mnemosyne
I hope I’m just a worrywart, but it concerns me that we seem to have two totally separate factions protesting Trump from the left. That does not seem to bode well for 2018.
efgoldman
@Mnemosyne:
No, we have Democrats and people who understand politics protesting the Shitgibbon, and the leftiers and wilmerbots protesting Democrats.
geg6
Made herb marinated pork chops on the grill, Brussels sprouts and yams roasted in maple syrup and sweet and tart apples roasted in butter and honey for dinner. Yummy!
PENS!!! DAMN! Woohoo!
Adam L Silverman
I can post the video of the Harrisburg rally if you like.
Redshift
I’m watching Samantha Bee’s Not the White House Correspondents Dinner. It’s quite fun, especially the “historical” videos of her roasting Wilson, Reagan, etc. And that she’s honoring journalists, and still giving them shit.
Adam L Silverman
@geg6: Am I correct that the Caps pulled Holtby and are playing their backup goalie this period?
Mary G
@Adam L Silverman: If we’re voting mark me as a NO.
ArchTeryx
And the media yawned.
efgoldman
@Adam L Silverman:
Yup. And now he’s let in two. Bailed out by a bogus interference call. Or maybe not.
geg6
@Adam L Silverman:
Yes. LOL!
Adam L Silverman
@efgoldman: Yep another whacky goalie interference call.
geg6
@efgoldman:
YES! Especially since it was obviously a goal.
efgoldman
@Adam L Silverman:
Even though he’s allowed two, Fleury is doing what neither goalie in the early game could do. Especially in the first period.
Looks like Caps are another team to lose first two games at home. Weird playoff year.
geg6
Fuck. Must I be forced to endure that dumbbell Matthew McConaghey during my hockey game? Ugh, he makes me want to vomit, he’s so repulsive.
efgoldman
@geg6:
Aren’t you old enough to learn to ignore commercials?
Omnes Omnibus
@Mnemosyne: Because of work, I wasn’t able to be in the January march. When I went to the march last last weekend, I met a bunch of people who went to both.
geg6
@efgoldman:
I was caught off guard. The guy makes my skin crawl. He always looks to me as if he hasn’t bathed in months. And his stoner schtick is just disgusting and old.
Adam L Silverman
@efgoldman: Yeah, it has been something different this year.
efgoldman
@Adam L Silverman:
And now the bullshit starts
amk
Wonder when the media minions will take twitler’s rants and threats against them seriously. When some gun nut resorts to 2nd amindment solutions against them?
Adam L Silverman
@amk: Most likely.
Lapassionara
Well here in the greater St Louis area, we have had thunderstorms off and on all day, and expect more tomorrow. Some hail thrown in for good measure. So here’s to climate! I hear Quinerly is off on another one of her adventures and is missing this excitement.
geg6
@amk:
Probably not even then. It’ll be all “lone wolf!” and “hoocoodaknowed?”
Patricia Kayden
@geg6: He’s gorgeous. Leave Matthew alone!!!!!!!!
NotMax
Of course there’s no way y’all can see it to confirm the date, but wrote and tucked the following away on the computer as a .txt file dated Feb. 27:
William Henry Harrison’s first 100 days were more notable and more successful than the new occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
And Harrison was dead for 69½ of them.
J R in WV
@Lapassionara:
She’s gone to the NC beaches… so she may see the effect of climate change in person. And Poco.
I wish I liked hockey. But on our TV you can’t see the puck at all, so no point to the game, really.
Thunderstorms here veered north of us, mostly in Ohio, so far. We can always use a few hours of rain, but a chain of thunderstorms can be deadly in the steeper mountains.
raven
@NotMax: stolen
AxelFoley
@efgoldman:
Nailed it.
geg6
@Patricia Kayden:
You can have him. Stupid and dirty aren’t my type. *shudder*
Lizzy L
@geg6: Sounds totally yummy.
geg6
Holy shit. A blowout. On the road in the playoffs. Awesome.
NotMax
@geg6
Brussels sprouts and maple syrup are an idyllic match.
Like to parboil them (always score an X in the stem before boiling), then slice somewhat thinly lengthwise, coat with slightly diluted maple syrup and a touch of lemon juice, place on a baking sheet and sprinkle with a dusting of bread crumbs and roast ’em
geg6
@NotMax:
Sea salt, too. Must have the salty with the sweet.
geg6
The Flower was a beast tonight.
NotMax
@geg6
Thanks, but shall pass on the salt. A taste I generally don’t care for. Mayhaps a dash of cayenne, though….
Chet Murthy
I watched the not-WHCD. Was hoping that Sam Bee would have a buncha comics to roast old Dampnut and his yellow hordes. Sadly it was Sam (and sure, she was funny, but …) and Will Ferrell as GWB. And that was it. Ah, well.
EricNNY
Hey Yinz,
I’m early (for me) on this thread. I was just thinking, I’ve never said thanks to all the FP’rs here for all your good work and entertaining/informative posts. Thanks. This is the first blog I ever followed and is still my favorite.
Glidwrith
I made a dragon-form chocolate fudge cake from scratch and topped it with ganache for the now-14 year old’s birthday.
MisterForkbeard
@Chet Murthy: Once Trump bailed on the WHCD, the not-WHCD was destined to not get nearly as much attention. Which is sad, as it would have been pretty epic.
Yarrow
@Redshift: Watched the whole thing and thought it was great. I love Sam Bee. She’s so smart and funny and her show is nonstop. I find I have to pay close attention because I’ll miss something if I don’t. She just tosses out comments and jokes so fast.

J and her sister (visiting from Austin, TX) were at the DC march. They had a good time and said it was a great crowd.
I see that Donnie’s love affair with tyrannical monsters continues – he’s invited Duterte to Washington:
(sigh)
Cheers,
Scott.
Aleta
Some sole from the fish buyer who comes to the farmer’s market, in cornmeal and olive oil and some kind of mixed color pepper, very lightly broiled.
Aleta
@Another Scott:
What is -wrong- with him. Who likes dictators?
SWMBO
@Aleta: a dictator wannabe
Jeffro
@Adam L Silverman: @efgoldman: @geg6:
Me and the fam were at that game and NOW I GET IT…you three were basically conspiring to ruin my good time!
(j/k…I don’t follow hockey…lucked into some tickets…it was fun but it’ll only be a once-a-decade-thing)
NotMax
@SWMBO
Dorktator.
efgoldman
@Aleta:
There aren’t enough pixels in the universe, or any other.
Jeffro
And since this is an OT, just thought I should note:
– inviting Duerte to the WH
– acting like a crazy person at the NRA convention
– rallying and lying his ass off in Harrisburg
– coming back around for Round 3 of Trumpcare
– interview after interview of nonsensical psycho-babble
This guy’s not going down until we knock him out for good. Let’s go, Comey! Let’s go, IC!! I wanna see some indictments before Memorial Day weekend!
Gaffer
@Adam L Silverman</aWould you please take your Hockkey stuff elsewhere? Shurely there are hockey blogs? I don't like it. thanks
Gaffer
Hockey is the closest we come to Gladiator violence. In this day and age. I’m guessing the Apricot Schuurg probably loves seeing young men bash each others teeth out. But not me.
Another Scott
@Gaffer: I guess you haven’t seen boxing and UFC.
:-/
You don’t have to read what people (in particular, or in general) post here.
Cheers,
Scott.
