Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Lick the third rail, it tastes like chocolate!

Humiliatingly small and eclipsed by the derision of millions.

Republicans are radicals, not conservatives.

Marge, god is saying you’re stupid.

That meeting sounds like a shotgun wedding between a shitshow and a clusterfuck.

This year has been the longest three days of putin’s life.

Make the republican party small enough to drown in a bathtub.

Sadly, there is no cure for stupid.

Fundamental belief of white supremacy: white people are presumed innocent, minorities are presumed guilty.

We are learning that “working class” means “white” for way too many people.

Accused of treason; bitches about the ratings. I am in awe.

Washington Post Catch and Kill, not noticeably better than the Enquirer’s.

The current Supreme Court is a dangerous, rogue court.

President Musk and Trump are both poorly raised, coddled 8 year old boys.

The next time the wall street journal editorial board speaks the truth will be the first.

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Not loving this new fraud based economy.

But frankly mr. cole, I’ll be happier when you get back to telling us to go fuck ourselves.

The low info voters probably won’t even notice or remember by their next lap around the goldfish bowl.

The republican caucus is covering themselves with something, and it is not glory.

Well, whatever it is, it’s better than being a Republican.

America is going up in flames. The NYTimes fawns over MAGA celebrities. No longer a real newspaper.

The “burn-it-down” people are good with that until they become part of the kindling.

We can show the world that autocracy can be defeated.

Here you go..

She’s almost 17.5 lbs and getting tall.  She brightens every day and Bixby is Bixby again. I am so very grateful for that. There many more photos of her and Bixby here.

Bonus kitteh:

I suspect she’s called this meeting to let me know my performance review is going to go badly.

We ended up getting sucked into the second half of Soapdish. There’s just something about good actors playing bad actors that makes me laugh every time. Plus it’s actually a sweet love story.

In other news, the progressive wing of the San Francisco city supervisors just conspired with enough other supervisors to fire our acting mayor, London Breed, and replace her with a venture capitalist, in order to weaken her bid for the summer mayoral election, since one of the progressives (Jane Kim) is also running.

Bought a pack of mj mints in Seattle to test for effect on bp and anxiety. I seem to react well to thc but it makes me dizzy even when sitting down. I cannot imagine taking pot for fun. But my BP numbers are now so nice and moderate. 117/75 106/68. I’ve even had coffee! I think I can deal with a bit of dizzy & a deeper sleep than normal. I’d dearly like to reduce the medications.

@ruemara: any reputable mj shop should be able to point you in the right direction if you ask. It’s supposedly the part that helps with anxiety, and they now have breeds that focus on that instead of thc.

Ever seen this? Trailer at link is absolutely, positively NSFW.

Also too, for good actors playing it totally straight while knowing they are doing a send-up, highly recommend the very underrated Movie Movie. A sample.

G went in for a physical for the first time since he got laid off from his horrible stressful and went back to library school and was shocked to see that his blood pressure went down to 117/75. He had gotten so used to it being 130/x that he thought that was normal for him. ?

    @NotMax:

I first read about that in one of Danny Peary’s Cult Movies books, but I’ve never actually seen it.

@ruemara: You can check the menu of most places online, and they usually have the thc/cbd of each variety. They even have cbd capsules.

Very pretty cat. What’s her name?

When we visited Colorado in September, we obtained chocolate truffles in child-safe 10 packs. And usually did two 10mg truffles each, which was sufficient for the occasional giggle. When it was time to check in the car and fly home, we did the last 6 truffles and had the best, calmest flight home evah.

No dizzyness ever, but we used to use quite a bit back in our salad days. Not so much anymore, though I hope to get some more good edibles while in LA come March. I haven’t mentioned that yet, but we’re going on an adventure cruise into the Sea of Cortez aka Bay of California the first 10 days of March, and then spending 10-15th of March in LA.

Museums in the afternoon and hopefully hot Latin rock and jazz at night, along with great food. Peruvian again, which I haven’t done since I was working with the EPA as a state DEP nerd in DC. Good food in DC! And Thai, and whatever else looks great.

Goodnight all, back in bed now.

Plus a meet up if possible.

I used to get a brochure in the mail to go on a luxurious boat with about 10 passengers and a couple of marine biologists that was the price of two of my cars.

@Major Major Major Major: @Mike J: That’s encouraging. I so need to catch up on good ways to consume some cannabis. San Diego hasn’t been remotely progressive about this. Not sure whether it’s the city council or the already functioning Medical MJ providers on Camino del Rio Sud, where the prices are fucking shocking, but damn.

@SectionH: re: consumables, ask your bud tender to explain the difference in edibles vs. Flower as edibles are metabolized through the liver and flower through the pulmonary system. The effects are significantly different. Some experonce a more intense and lon get lasting “body” high while smoked/vaped flower a faster acting, shorter duration cerebral high. Also, ask about creams and salves, which some find great relief for aches and pain, including nerve pain.
Chet, my weinie dog has very turned out wrists that put a lot of pressure on his front arms. He takes a cbd cookie in the late afternoon and is both licking his wrists much less and now appearing to get more rest and deeper sleep at night with less repositioning or getting up. YMMV.

Oh my god, TaMara, the photos at the link are truly adorable! Love that the Bear will help measure Scout’s growth, but just seeing them together (Scout + Bear) is beyond cute.

PS – so glad to hear that Bixby is Bixby again. That surely warms your heart beyond belief. I know you both miss your beautiful girl, but new love is good too. So happy for you.
