A day that will live in ignominy.
I missed that.

@Baud:
I was thinking “infamy,” but fair enough. This day sucks.
SiubhanDuinne
With a few notable exceptions, it does seem that most of the Dem 2020 candidates genuinely like and respect each other and would cheerfully support whichever of them manages to win the nomination next year. I expect we’ll see a few punches thrown during the debates, but for the most part they all seem to have eyes on the prize. I like.
Baud
@SiubhanDuinne:
Agree. It’s nice to see. Too bad there can be only one.
SiubhanDuinne
@Baud:
For the ones that don’t make it to nomination stage, I hope there will be some effective Cabinet posts. There is so much Trump-era fuckery that needs to be reversed ASAP.
Ajabu
I am good with either one of them!
If Harris, Warren stay in the Senate.
If Warren, Harris for A.G.

I always thought this was a real person, I’ve seen her quoted in serious outlets and she’s said to be the head of a real union, but if you wanted to build a Bernie Cultist in a lab to produce this tweet, for some reason, you couldn’t do better
I don’t now what “sort of left” means. Warren? Nina Turner is already whining about a rigged contest, and The Young Turks are sending their followers around yapping about some pledge they want people to sign.
Jim, Foolish Literalist

@Jay:
First time I’m hearing about this.
Wife and I just watched the CBS Evening News, and then the ABC Evening News. No mention of it. Both networks ran with a story about a “false report” of a man with a gun that caused a stampede of panicked celebrators. They arrested a man with a gun (he had a foreign-sounding name), and my wife and I wondered why both ABC and CBS called it “false report” (but there was no mention of the neonazis story)

@Jay: One day in the far future, there will be some sort of plaque commentating a spot where Scott Warren put out water to save lives, and all sorts of people will proudly identify with him and imagine that they would have done the same, way back when.
I say this because Ohio is dotted with little towns celebrating their historic homes that were once part of the Underground railway even as every single last one of them is a MAGA-rat.
Scott Warren is a saint.

@?BillinGlendaleCA: No problem. We’ve established the principle that cabinet members don’t need to be confirmed by the Senate. It’s only a short step further to say that an “acting” cabinet member is not in fact holding the office – especially if they nobly refuse the salary – and so can continue to serve in Congress.

@Searcher:
If it’s the one they were pushing a few weeks ago, it’s a “pledge” not to attack other Democratic candidates. Right after Bernie made a big deal of signing it, he (officially) hired David Sirota, who had been & continues to attack every Dem candidate who gets any attention from the ‘lamestream media’, because all attention not paid to Dear Boss-Leader is stolen.
(Also, if Sanders’ passive-aggressive sniping about how all those other candidates are compromised, dishonest, johnny-come-lately unelectibles doesn’t qualify as “attacking”, he’s got a very generous definition of the term.)
TL; DR — the Young Turks, and their aging leadership, are Bernie’s brownshirts, and if they don’t end up getting someone killed, it’ll be because they’re not even good at the vandalism they so admire.

Today at Motor City Pride, a friendly LGBT+ event, Detroit PD escorted Nazi’s in full uniform outside of the entrance to the festival. Detroit PD bruised those that tried to intervene (see below) and allowed this to happen.

Nazis rally, antifa steps up, centrists denounce the antifa.
Now neo-Nazis are showing up at Pride, protected by cops. Now gunshots at Pride. Now Pride is riddled by fear.
Now are you ready to listen? Now are you ready to put your faith behind the only ones who’ve got it right?
Dan B
@Jay: Seattle’s Pride Parade has about 250,000+ attendees. I hope we don’t get the right wingers with guns crowd. Our streets are narrow so a panic would be dangerous.
We don’t have the phenomenon of parade goers taking off their pride buttons and outfits that happens in many cities. People on the light rail and buses party!

Since Charlottesville, the Nazi’s have been busy reaching out to and radicalizing other Fringers, from the Talibangalists to Anti-abortionists.
I have no idea what “Patriot Prayer” has planned for Pride in Seattle or Portland.

As always, these dopes blame Obama for stuff he had little to do with, and insist on looking at Trump as their supposed saviour, who was supposed to make everything right.
From the NBC story.
Trump wanted to help big corporations and his own business interests. After that, he didn’t care. So the GOP wrote the tax bill to please their masters and Trump signed off on it. Hell, he would have signed a blank piece of paper if it had been put in front of him.

@Brachiator:
An old online friend of mine recently pointed out that Left Twitterites have a pronounced tendency to describe anyone who says anything horrible as a “centrist”, and then use that connection to implicitly or explicitly bash liberals and the Democratic Party.
In the past week I’ve seen the “centrist” label applied to right-wingers who trollishly claim to be “independent”, and to Michael Tracey, in both cases because they whined about public intolerance of bigots on “free speech” grounds. These people are many things but centrists they are not.
