The puppies and robots video won’t play. I was forced to click on the link and go look for myself.
In other news, the California budget is going to hell in a handbasket. Health officials are predicting a second wave and a third wave, going on at least through December. The California State University has announced that they are going virtual for the fall semester. I am not sure about the University of California or the California Community Colleges, but I suspect they will also be nearly entirely virtual for the fall semester.

I’m not doing anything.
Why am I not doing anything?

That robot graduation was hilarious and cool at the same time.

You can’t tease the Balloon-Juice core cohort with puppies outside the window like that!
That’s just wrong.
This gem made it back my way again, Madison wants a boyfriend.

For those who haven’t seen it and might still be interested, Hamilton is coming to Disney Plus
As an aside, much like fat oil-laden tankers floating outside port cities, the film industry has scores of completed big-budget movies lined up with nowhere that they can be shown. Have people fallen out of the movie-going habit? Theater is a bit different, I guess. Existing shows have been shut down, but I don’t know how the lockdown affects planning for upcoming productions.

@Brachiator
I would imagine it has thrown the entire system of financing and advance booking of theaters into the proverbial cocked hat.

I received an email from Marion County, Oregon Elections confirming they accepted my primary ballot. I get a email when they send it out and when they accept it. This has been a smooth process for decades.

BTW, the need for respite and solace is officially a thing, according to Pew Research. People are closely following the pandemic news. However, it takes a toll.

@Kelly: That’s how it works her in CO as well, but your state has been doing it much longer. I am sure it accelerated our change from purple to blue, a Republican nightmare and they know it.
NotMax
Code fix.
@Kelly
Fine and dandy for people who have an e-mail account. Dunno about you but I know plenty of folks who don’t.

The sidewalk chalk artists seem to have run out of steam here. It’s a little disappointing not to see them when I’m out on walks.

Spent a fair amount of time today on-line shopping for my two- year old grandson. Found snap-together blocks (think old school Fisher-Price) and several neat books. Kidsbooks.com has a huge selection of affordable books.
Goku (aka Amerikan Baka)
Since we’re talking about books, I’m looking into getting into the classic Disney comics. I suppose watching the reboot DuckTales has piqued my interest. Right now, I’m looking at starting on the Carl Barks titles, then the Don Rosa ones. Will probably look into the Mickey Mouse ones too.
I’ve read they can be surprisingly good reads for what they are. Will probably go on to collect Adventures of Tintin afterwards.
Also, I’ve graduated with my Associate of Applied Science in nursing! Huzzah! Now all I have to worry about is prep classes and the NCLEX

@Brachiator:
@NotMax: Movies are fucked, but live theater is really fucked. When will it be safe to open? Maybe when there is sufficient testing and tracing that any person who tests positive and anyone they were in contact with are identified within 24 hours, but who is actually going to show up to a live theater (or concert) event? Theaters, like restaurants, aren’t financially viable if only half the seats are filled, so even if every other seat is empty, it’s not going to happen (and six feet would mean only one out of every four seats is filled). Who is going to invest in a project and who is going to sign a contract to perform in something that may or may not happen six months or a year or two years down the road? With movies, at least, there is the possibility of streaming and playing at drive-ins, but live theater is doomed, except for outdoor performances with six feet between everyone wearing masks, which is not a money-making proposition.
That isn’t to say that innovative, exciting productions working around these difficulties won’t happen, but any kind of large scale thing seems impossible without the kind of patronage American government is loathe to do.

@Goku (aka Amerikan Baka): That’s great news! Well done, young man.

@Brachiator:
Thanks! And yes there was. It sucked not getting the real commencement, but it was still special. It was awesome to see my name with my degree scroll by on the screen and hear my name read
@NotMax:
Thanks lol. And I used to love watching the Animaniacs! Pinky and the Brain too

Hope it was pronounced correctly. At college graduation they mangled mine. I commandeered the mic and issued a correction.

Oh it was. They wanted it spelled phonetically, so I plugged my name into an online “translator”

@Goku (aka Amerikan Baka):
on the one hand, you get to be kind, loving, supportive, caring,
on the other hand, you get to make them wear those “gowns”,….
Jay
And that is “MAKE” not make, it’s not a suggestion. ?
Goku (aka Amerikan Baka)
@Jay:
LOL, yeah those gowns are also a pain to put on and off.
The best thing about a nursing degree is, in addition to being able to help people, is the ability to go anywhere I want practically for a job. There are many specializations and concentrations for nursing as well.
