Apparently, Pence was planning to criticize "taking a knee" in his speech tonight. The Milwaukee Bucks just put their own livelihoods on the line for their cause. Contrast to Pence, who once spent $325K of taxpayer dollars to make a show of angrily walking out on an NFL game.

Have there been ANY speakers at the GOP convention who weren’t:
1. Trump family spawn
2. 3rd-rate politicians (Jim Jordan, etc.)
3. Trump appointees
4. Culture war grievance candidates (MAGA boy and the gun-toters from St. Louis)
No prominent national GOP figures at all. No ex-presidents. No prominent senators or governors. No one at all who might be a GOP front-runner for 2024.

I am looking at a picture of people setting up chairs for Trump’s speech tonight (here) and it struck me why Trump is using the White House — there was probably not a city in the country that would let him use a colosseum and he needs his crowd. I worked the headquarters from 4 to 6. We’re almost out of signs and the new ones aren’t coming until 9/3. Our youngest volunteer (Gene, a Bernie person) hooked up a flat screen tv with a loop of the Dem convention – it’s in the window and it faces outward and it’s a storefront so if you’re walking by you see it. He’s shy and I thanked him so profusely I embarrassed him.
This is a very Trumpy area so people who come by are grateful we’re there. It’s nice to chat with people who aren’t online because they say things that are insanely obvious if you follow this as closely as we do but are fine things to say in any other group – one lady told me Pence lies all the time “and that’s just wrong”.

He thought of Erdrogan as his friend, and Erdrogan has complained about what a needy bitch Trump is, calling him up all the time. But I’m defining ‘friend’ as ‘people whose company he enjoys’. Some of them even enjoy his company back. He does not value them as people. He doesn’t even value Ivanka as people, only as his favorite property. But he certainly has people who he enjoys being with.

NEW YORK (AP) – MSNBC is making its final night of Republican convention coverage a family occasion for President Donald Trump, but not in a way that he’s likely to enjoy.
