Talking Points for Contacting Dewine about Creating a Commission
- As part of the 2015 redistricting reform measure, the Ohio Constitution provides the governor alone the authority to convene our commission in charge of drawing state legislative maps — it’s time for the governor to do so.
- The U.S. Census Bureau announced months ago that we’d get our redistricting data by August 16. We’re now just two months away from getting data, but still don’t know who our map drawers are.
- Twice in just the last six years, Ohioans sent a clear message on redistricting: we want fair maps drawn through a fair process with plenty of opportunities for Ohioans to engage and give their input.
- We’re losing time to uphold the promise of those reform measures – it’s time for Gov. DeWine to convene the commission!
Stay tuned!
