    @Sure Lurkalot: Samwise is more handsome than my Shadow. She is part Siamese. Aside from her voice, her face is more triangular and her chin is longer and more pointed. Samwise looks intent. Shadow looks contemptuous. She isn’t. She is just edgy.

    @sab: Whoopie is right, as in the proverbial cushion.  When I was in school there were two Goldwater for President groups.  They hated each other.  I think one was Rotary types and the other was John Birch / Klan.

    Has it changed any?

    Don’t feel too bad, I got put into asswipe Bill Johnson’s district, the same guy who was among the group who stormed into a secure Congressional hearing on the Trump-Ukraine affair IIRC. Apparently it’s a safe Republican district. The entirety of Mahoning County, in fact, including the City of Youngstown and parts of Trumbull.

    I met Rosie in person and, despite the slanders Cole perpetrated against her, I found her to be very sweet.  She was actually the friendliest of all the animals, I thought.  Next to Thurston, of course.  I love Thurston.

    I just discovered I have a really, really shapeshifter dog.

    Pachi the schnoodle decided to go out to the backyard in the rain and roll in mud. Now, it had been a while since his last grooming so he was in full schnauzer regalia, down to the mustaches, and EVERYTHING was gunked up beyond repair. So off he went to the doggy salon.  When I picked him up, he had been shaved all over… And he looked exactly like a poodle. Pointy snout and floppy ears. He also looked like he had lost ten pounds.

    Surprised heck out of me.

    To all the BJ pet lovers, you have to watch “The Electrical Life of Louis Wain”. It stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Clair Foy and OMG it is excellent! I sobbed my eyes out but also laughed and smiled a lot.
    Cats, of course, feature prominently.

    According to a certain somebody. But do you have any independent knowledge concerning Rosie?

    That said, Rosie did have a huge problem — Jack Russell genes. Not her fault.

    John was good to take her in, but he was always very negative about her. Could that negativity have affected her behavior? Perhaps with some enhanced interrogation techniques we could get to the truth…

    I volunteer at a cageless, no-kill cat shelter. It’s sad how often the “forever” home isn’t forever. One reason is because of elderly people who adopt cats that outlive them.

    @eclare: Ian Dunbar…he of “Sirius dog training” fame, I think? I had a video of his, wonderful puppy training. Also wonderful accent – I cracked up when he addressed a snoozing puppy with “Come along there, sausage. Wakey-wakey!”

    Thurston is so cute, with that nearly invisible tail whirring so fast.

    And Steve, while regal, looks like a benign ruler showing his love for his person. Happy, secure, loving kitty head of household. Much like the expression of our giant white tom cats with their regal red spots. First Ralph, so named because his most common sound was word in cat that sounded like “rrrRalph” — followed many years later by a very similar white tom youngster with red spots whom I named Rufus for the big red spot on one side of his head.

    =Rufus sat at table with us for dinner, had his chair, a little saucer, we would put a tiny bit of whatever meaty dish, or veggie bathed in butter, etc. He would examine it closely, and if it met with approval, would eat it in a very mannerly way. And when we had company, he would join the dinner party, and nibble a little with us. Lived to be a very senior kitty, was very happy.

    Steve looks very happy to me!!
