Via Think Progress and Steve Benen, I see that the GOP Senators have dug deep and managed to become even more assholish than they were previously. I didn’t really think it was possible, but apparently they’ve done it:
They’re like a bunch of screaming toddlers throwing tantrums because they didn’t get an ice-cream cone.
Maybe Harry Reid should put in a bulk order for some juice boxes and stuffed animals. Or pacifiers.

@dmsilev: Even better, Harry Reid should pass a Senate rule that says if you DON’T work past 2p.m. you don’t get your government run Health Care. See how long John McCain holds out on that…

Much too early to look it up but the rethugs pulled the same thing a while back over some other snit they were in at the time. Couple of years ago iirc.

@dmsilev: Hell no. You never reward the toddler with juice. He needs to order the materials to construct a giant playpen wherein they are made to sit for their time outs.

Such children. Harry Reid needs to get Joe Biden in there to smack them around with some more colorful language. Heh.
Tim F, thanks for the donations reminders. I donated yesterday and might even donate some more today. Still so excited about health care passing and feeling all hopeychangey. It’s a good time to hit people like me up for some financial support for the Reps that made it happen.
I occasionally peruse the anti-Palin blogs and Palingates had an interesting post on Palin’s thoughts on health care passing. She tells her supporters via Twitter not to retreat, instead “RELOAD.” And there’s a map of Reps that voted for health care that are their targets in this next election – identified by rifle sights on the map. Yeah, those Republicans aren’t advocating violence.
The map and list might be useful, though, because it makes it pretty clear who the Republicans will be going after. If anyone is in any of those districts, they might want to send their Rep a few dollars.

Just to show what we’re up against, a teabagger (mistakenly) published the home address of Congressman Perriello’s (VA-5) brother on Facebook…

@geg6:
That is awesome. That comment by Boehner is going to come back to haunt him for sure.

How can I petition to add Bob Etheridge (D-NC) to that list? He represents a red-leaning rural district where the polling was pretty heavily against, despite being one of those places where the farmers and other hard luck folks who live there will probably benefit a lot more from the law than, say, San Franciscans. It took him a little while to decide to vote for it, but he didn’t pull any Stupak bullshit and he never said he was going to vote against it. It took some guts.

Re: the Republican temper tantrum. Anyone who wants to see the filibuster go should pray everyday for the Republicans to pull stuff like that. If they keep it up come January you will have Robert Byrd introducing a rule to do away with not only the filibuster, but holds and stupid rules like the “we don’t work after 2pm even if the Majority Leader wants us to”. I truly believe all of them have to go if our country has any chance of adequately addressing the issues that face it, and the Republican temper tantrum may actually help us get there.

The amount of money donated over the last 48 hours has to be staggering.

@dmsilev:
Republicans get very crabby if they don’t get an afternoon nap. Maybe, in retaliation, Reid should threaten to prohibit the Senate cafeteria from selling juiceboxes and little baggies full of cheerios.

Here’s an OT bit that might get cough drowned out cough in the ‘mercan press shrieking. Disputed Bay of Bengal island ‘vanishes’ say scientists. There’s one way to resolve border disputes. Raise sea level.

Normally I only donnate to charities but this time, I have to aggree that these people deserve our help. They came through on the most important – i.e. affects me directly in the best way – law since the 60’s (and the amazing passage of so many critical and good laws.) Great job BJ – you helped, too.

With regard to ActBlue campaign donations, what holds me back is that the last time I did this, I was put onto email lists and snail mail lists for a lot of the recipients’ campaigns. With my donation being divided up, a lot of the folks were spending almost as much on postage than they got from me. And of course, I really don’t want the spam of either kind.
I’d love to make one of these donations, but please tell me there’s a way to participate without the spam!
DBrown
@PT&S: Don’t use your e-mail or, if it is required, add a few extra letters/numbers. The idea is to get them money and if you don’t want their spam (good point), just don’t give the correct information. Only proper address/name and card info is what they have to have.
PT&S
@DBrown: OK, that’s a start. But using correct address for credit card also leads to snail-mail spam! There really ought to be a check box for “no mailing lists”.
