Here’s a good McClatchy story on the recent Republican Leadership Conference meeting in New Orleans:
GOP hopes to go from Party of No to Party of Choice
How’s that hopey-changey thing working out?
- GOP warns Obama Supreme Court filibuster possible
- Another GOP senator blocks extension of jobless benefits
- Kansas GOP lawmakers may force state to sue over health overhaul
- Commentary: Anti-gay candidate tests California GOP’s voter appeal
- California GOP candidates Whitman, Poizner take hard line on illegal immigration
Those are just a few of the headlines with “GOP” in them at the same site, going back to last Wednesday.

The Party of Choice offers these two choices:
1) Act like a racist bastard and demean the ethnics,
2) Act like a greedy bastard and demean the poor.
Yup. Great choices if you’re a Republican.

Haley Barbour on the prospect of introducing a new Contract with America before the election: “Six weeks out is long enough for people to learn what’s in it.”
And the GOP complains that health care reform was rushed through in only a year or so.

@Pseudonym: come on, Goopers’ve been specializing in the 6 page (counting cover) all chart no numbers ppts. Page a day is technically within the realm of reading speed of many legislators and the constituents they represent. ‘Sides, once you manage to recognize the No on the first page, you’re primed and ready for the six succeeding ones. Sort of a Board Book with America.

@Pseudonym:
But the
deathhealth-care bill WAS 2,000 PAGES LONG!!!11!! /wingerSeriously, six weeks is long enough for people to learn what the GOoPers have in mind, considering it will be the same-old, same-old “taxes bad, military spending good, brown people are stealing your money” crap as always. Probably in those words, so the Sarah Palin wing of the party will understand it.
Morbo
Democrats did the same thing to Bush!!!!!1!!

Yes, I know that we make fun of them and they make it almost impossible to resist.
HOWEVER – it would be good for the whole country if the Loyal Opposition Party offered alternatives, additional analyses, and suggestions for improvement. If they would do this, they would be serving their country, including the Real Americans.
I think I am saying that I would like for them to offer a choice. I would like to the efforts of some to turn over a new leaf to succeed.
I know, I know – from my mouth to God’s ear.

I really like the Daily Show’s formulation:
“The GOP: Abandon All Hope That Things Will Ever Change.”

That’s just it, they never do, And nobody ever bother’s to ask them, ‘Choice of what?’ Certainly can’t be of opinion. We see what happens to anyone who doesn’t tow the strict party line. Siberia!

Another GOP senator blocking unemployment benefits extension.
Just another day in Asshole World, where worthless suckflies who do absolutely nothing of value sneer at the unemployed and have the unspeakable gall to call them lazy.

Shorthand in my family is: “Now there’s a pious thought.”

Yeah, you can make any choice you want. It just has to agree with what Rush says,
Can I also say I’m really liking the steampunk ad that’s shown up today.

I really am seriously wondering what will end up shaking out for the GOP this summer and fall. We tear our hair out here on a regular basis over the Democrats, of course, but even at this point they actually do have a few issues and accomplishments to run on. I’m wondering to what extent the Republican party will be fragmented, decentralized, or overrun by the teabaggers when the rubber meets the road. A few Republicans have been caught saying out loud that the party is getting a little too wacko at this point, but whether their observations ultimately make any difference is another matter altogether.
Now, I don’t expect the midterm elections to be a cakewalk for the Dems or anything. But I am wondering what will end up winning votes for Republicans, how and where, and how many votes.

Grifter in Chief, Sarah Palin, has made $12 million in less than a year, that’s 100 times her salary as governor in Alaska.
That’s one changey thing that is working out really well for her.

@Peter J: Wow. I’m genuinely in awe of Mooselini’s mad skillz. Take that, haters!
I don’t know how long the GOP can continue on its platform of Screw the Rubes, but it sure seems to be working out for her.
Short Bus Bully
Even the Republicans don’t listen to their own ideas! Whenever some GOP lawmaker introduces some legislation or a bunch of ideas the leadership just continues on clapping louder and shouting “Hell no!”
And then accuse the Dems of not playing nice and ignoring all their (tax cut) solutions.
/facepalm
