Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Imperialist aggressors must be defeated, or the whole world loses.

You can’t attract Republican voters. You can only out organize them.

Those who are easily outraged are easily manipulated.

I’m more christian than these people and i’m an atheist.

We do not need to pander to people who do not like what we stand for.

Not so fun when the rabbit gets the gun, is it?

Baby steps, because the Republican Party is full of angry babies.

Every reporter and pundit should have to declare if they ever vacationed with a billionaire.

Let me eat cake. The rest of you could stand to lose some weight, frankly.

This really is a full service blog.

Also, are you sure you want people to rate your comments?

Disagreements are healthy; personal attacks are not.

No one could have predicted…

I desperately hope that, yet again, i am wrong.

The arc of history bends toward the same old fuckery.

When I decide to be condescending, you won’t have to dream up a fantasy about it.

“What are Republicans afraid of?” Everything.

Conservatism: there are people the law protects but does not bind and others who the law binds but does not protect.

Come on, media. you have one job. start doing it.

Pessimism assures that nothing of any importance will change.

Optimism opens the door to great things.

Too often we hand the biggest microphones to the cynics and the critics who delight in declaring failure.

Within six months Twitter will be fully self-driving.

They are lying in pursuit of an agenda.

That video is a thing of beauty. :)

I haven’t watched the whole thing, but I really hate that it twice talks about the Pledge of Allegiance (including once by Dan Abrams), which as far as I’m aware isn’t involved in any of the truthy allegations about Obama. He didn’t put his hand over his heart during the national anthem, which isn’t something that I’d normally do either. But these attacks mutate faster than you can get the story out, helped along by mistakes like Abrams’.

    BRAVO !

I’m sure that if this successfully goes viral, within 24 hours the GOP will successfully distract the mainstream media with a planted rumor campaign of their own that Hillary Clinton is a closet Wiccan, and that Vince Foster’s death was actually caused when he attended a ceremonial worship coven with the Clintons, and she mistakenly gave him the wrong sacramental potion that made him suicidal instead of meditative.

Unfortunately due to the kiddos I can’t hear Randy Newman without Pixar associations. I keep expecting to see Buzz Lightyear in his lapel pin. It’s great though. Could’ve safely moved a little bit faster since it doesn’t have to be at Republican reading speed — would be my only improvement.

I just read the strangest Bill Clinton quote:

“The country is groaning and moaning and screaming for change to turn this country around and get it working again.”

Substitute about two words and he’s talking about a breech birth. I don’t think he’s getting enough sleep.

cmoreNC — that is a filthy lie! She gave him the right potion — she has experience with this kind of thing, you know — but once he became meditative, he immediately saw the utter emptiness of his life, and chose to seek nirvana.

    Shorter Jack Kingston:

I mean, look at Obama’s full name. Did you know that… if you spell his name backwards you get ‘Amabo’? Look at that, will you? Backwards, forwards, no matter which way you turn it, you got vowels on both sides.

    That’s just dang’d sinister.

That’s not as good or current as the tape of the Obama news conference in Texas today. Obama couldn’t handle the questions about his long time close relationship with Tony Rezko and walked out of the conference after about 8 questions by his own account.

Hmmm. It appears that the local [Chicago] press has managed to do what the national media could not — treat Obama as a politician and not a secular messiah. They asked tough questions about Obama’s political connections to a fixer and his campaign’s outright false answers on an Obama adviser’s contacts with Canadian diplomats regarding Obama’s rhetoric on NAFTA. Instead of handling the questions calmly and patiently, Obama accused the media of having an agenda against him, and then angrily stalked off.

    ……….

Many people profess concern that McCain lacks the proper temperament for the presidency. Instead, they should wonder just how a President Obama would deal with the press and with the accountability that comes with the office. If today’s press conference gives any indication, it looks like Obama has some temper and judgment issues of his own — or that the questions strike a little too close to home.

Oh absolutely. People across the country are letting it be known that handling the press is their number one issue hot button. For example, most people want a president that shrugs and snickers at the press and makes jokes about WMDs and stuff like that, stuff that irritates the people because they don’t like to see a president bothered with those type of questions. They like to see a president talk tough and tell the press to take a hike. In other words a president like the one we have now.

Speaking of stupidity… Apparently bush’s answer to the problems in Palestine was to back a covert military group tied to Fatah, launching a civil war in Gaza which resulted in the entrenchment of Hamas.

Within the Bush administration, the Palestinian policy set off a furious debate. One of its critics is David Wurmser, the avowed neoconservative, who resigned as Vice President Dick Cheney’s chief Middle East adviser in July 2007, a month after the Gaza coup.

Wurmser accuses the Bush administration of “engaging in a dirty war in an effort to provide a corrupt dictatorship [led by Abbas] with victory.” He believes that Hamas had no intention of taking Gaza until Fatah forced its hand. “It looks to me that what happened wasn’t so much a coup by Hamas but an attempted coup by Fatah that was pre-empted before it could happen,” Wurmser says.

OMG! RASTAMAN SMOKING WEED IN THE CAPITOLZ!

It’s true! You don’t need the electronic ID tag, just a damn pin. That whole thing with Cynthia “Cell Phone” McKinney was because she wasn’t wearing her lapel pin. Really, try it! Get a blank brass pin from any craft store, some enamel paint and make your own pin. It doesn’t have to be completely accurate because the guards will have to sniff your aftershave to get close enough to inspect the thing. Then put on your best suit and you too can wander the Corridors of Power unhindered!

    Pfffffffffffft!
