The Spain/South Korea match was the most appallingly refereed soccer match I have ever witnessed. Unlike other sports (like say, the NFL- the ‘real’ football), it appears that the officiating gets worse the farther into the playoffs teams advance. I have never seen two goals called back before. The WWF has more shame and less rigged matches. Absolutely disgusting, particularly when you consider that the soccer community has been desperately trying to cultivate interest in the sport in the United States. One thing Americans like and expect is fair play and an even playing ground, as well as sportsmanship. The World Cup has failed on all three accounts.

Attention Ted Turner- This is Terrorism:
A suicide bomber detonated a powerful explosive this morning on a Jerusalem bus crowded with high school students and adult commuters, killing at least 18 other people, including some teenagers, the police said.
The blast, which blew out the sides of the bus and peeled off its top from front to back, occurred near a high school on the south side of the city, at the Patt Junction. The bus was carrying students and commuters from the city’s outskirts toward its center.
In my mind it is beyond irresponsible, in fact it is morally reprehensible, to demand that Israel stop building a wall or doing ANYTHING they deem necessary to stop these violent disgusting acts.
Further evidence, not that any
Further evidence, not that any was needed, that Ted Turner is a jackass (via Drudge):
“Aren’t the Israelis and the Palestinians both terrorising each other?” says Turner, who is vice-chairman of AOL Time Warner, which owns CNN, in an exclusive interview with the Guardian.
“The Palestinians are fighting with human suicide bombers, that’s all they have. The Israelis … they’ve got one of the most powerful military machines in the world. The Palestinians have nothing. So who are the terrorists? I would make a case that both sides are involved in terrorism.”
His remarks were last night condemned by Ariel Sharon’s government, which called them “stupid”. Andrea Levin, director of the American pro-Israeli media watchdog Camera, said the comments were a “reprehensible” attempt to “blur the line between perpetrator and victim”.
And I thought he would never top his anti-Catholic remarks.

It is now duly noted, albeit belatedly, that Jim Henley’s Unqualified Offerings should have been included in my list of re-designed web sites. And, to his credit, he has kept the narrow margins that NRO foolishly walked away from. Bravo!
I did not mean to scare you with the Sgt. Schultz revelation, either, Jim. I assure you that I am not Stephanie DuPont.
