OK, I’ll be the fall guy: I dunno, John. Who DID say all those things?

:-) Eric Alterman, the Jewish anti-Semite — isn’t that what John’s saying?
Though by this measure, I’m a self-hating minority member as well.
Chris Rock tried to explain this when he was saying who could and couldn’t say “nigger,” but I guess it didn’t make sense to everyone.

I don’t think heis a self-hating jew- I just think he ascribes alot of silly things to jewishness.
IN the self-guilt category, I will take my Irish Catholic friends over any jew, any day.

I ascribe my talkative nature, lousy sense of time (IST) and intolerance of cold weather and bland food to my ethnicity. Due to my group’s not being as entrenched in American culture as Jews are, people think this is funny instead of offensive. Just wait ’til we get the “7/11 Owner of Venice”…

Alterman’s not anti-semitic. He’s just a jackass.

“Alterman’s not anti-semitic. He’s just a jackass.”
Explain the difference.

‘”Alterman’s not anti-semitic. He’s just a jackass.”‘
“Explain the difference.”
When Alec Baldwin advocates that his political enemies be killed, he doesn’t single out Jews; therefore, he is a jackass, but not an anti-semitic one. Similarly, when Eric Alterman whines and snivels about the election of 2000, he doesn’t single out Jews when making his list of imaginary enemies, so the same argument applies: jackass, but not an anti-semitic one.

It must be part of the same philosophy that lets white liberals call conservative minorities “oreos”, “coconuts”, “bananas’, and other similar terms, and insulting their intelligence and other traits without being called racists by their minority co-ideologists.
