Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Historically it was a little unusual for the president to be an incoherent babbling moron.

Republicans want to make it harder to vote and easier for them to cheat.

Incompetence, fear, or corruption? why not all three?

Consistently wrong since 2002

Cole is on a roll !

We’ll be taking my thoughts and prayers to the ballot box.

I was promised a recession.

If you are in line to indict donald trump, stay in line.

So it was an October Surprise A Day, like an Advent calendar but for crime.

Too often we confuse noise with substance. too often we confuse setbacks with defeat.

Accused of treason; bitches about the ratings. I am in awe.

Let there be snark.

An unpunished coup is a training exercise.

A consequence of cucumbers

Only Democrats have agency, apparently.

Shallow, uninformed, and lacking identity

This isn’t Democrats spending madly. This is government catching up.

Let us savor the impending downfall of lawless scoundrels who richly deserve the trouble barreling their way.

Since when do we limit our critiques to things we could do better ourselves?

Ron DeSantis, the grand wizard, oops, governor of FL

Authoritarian republicans are opposed to freedom for the rest of us.

No one could have predicted…

Prediction: the GOP will rethink its strategy of boycotting future committees.

Wow, I can’t imagine what it was like to comment in morse code.

Gay High Schools

This post is in: General Stupidity

FacebookTweetEmail

I saw this on the news tonight, and since I am unfamiliar with my parent’s cable channels, I thought I might have been watching Comedy Central by mistake. Unfortunately, it is true:

New York City is creating the nation’s first public high school for gays, bisexuals and transgender students.

The Harvey Milk High School will enroll about 100 students and open in the fall.

”I think everybody feels that it’s a good idea because some of the kids who are gays and lesbians have been constantly harassed and beaten in other schools,” Mayor Michael Bloomberg said Monday. ”It lets them get an education without having to worry.”

This is the worst idea I have heard in a long time. You know, it is very difficult to push for things like gay marriage, and to argue that the gay rights movement doesn’t want special rights, just the same protection of their rights that heterosexuals enjoy, and then you see crap like this being peddled. How about all heterosexual schools? Or all caucasian schools? Or schools just for people with lisps?

All this does is vindicate loser assholes like Pat Robertson and their ilk- they have claimed for years that the homosexual lobby wants special rights- and every time they have, leftists and people such as myself have beaten them down and called them homophobic and bigoted.

Please don’t tell me they were right.

Separate is not equal per the Supreme court so the only reason for this subversion of common sense and legal precedent is to promote inequality. As subjugation can be dismissed based on the stated intent of the promoters that leaves ‘promotion’ as the purpose.

These are pre-pubescent youths and teens well short of being able to make a reasonable ‘choice’ or ‘realization’ of their orientation. Therefore they cannot ‘consent’ to such choices by virtue of their youth.

So this is revealed as simple child abuse. Imposing homosexuality upon those unable to make such decisions to promote the agenda of those imposing the ideology. The apparently special needs of these individuals will not be served by treating them as a ‘group’.

I am absolutely for the normalization of rights for Gays because consenting adults private affairs are not my business, there is solid genetic evidence for this orientation, and who am I to begrudge anybody their happiness. Therefore a friend who commented ‘Gays can’t breed so they have to recruit’ offended me and I said so… but this act of segregatory preference is exactly that… recruitment of children to further political ends using sexual subjugation.

In this case separate is not normal but rather pedophilia.

John, wake up and smell the coffee. This is what bothers me everytime a Libertarian argues in favor of a leftist idea on live and let live grounds: there are consequences to “voluntary” behavior regarding sex, drugs and a whole host of conservative hot button social issues. It is pure ignorance to argue that conservatives are bigoted when they seek to preserve the [or should I saw return to a civil society] existing social order. There are real consequences to change, and we should look closely before “reforms” that undo what has been the basis of US civil society.

Oh, the other point, as a Republican I’ve watched as every compromise with the left ends in betrayal by the left of the compromise. Why should you be suprised that leftists betray their libertarian allies of convenience.

I just wrote a whole bit on some gay issues over on my blog today. I disagree on the “special rights” issue regarding gay marriage (but I do support it).

This school idea is just all kinds of wrong, however.

Sad, isn’t it? But it was predictable from the beginning of organized homosexual activism. As a previous commenter noted, you don’t form a special interest group and promote a divergent aspect of your identity above all other things because you yearn to be treated like everyone else.

If homosexuals wanted the normal individual rights guaranteed to all persons by our Constitution and our law code, that’s what they’d demand. Their demand for “gay rights” is an aggressive notion: a claim that they have an enforceable right to impose themselves on persons and private organizations that want nothing to do with them, while simultaneously creating institutions such as Harvey Milk High School.

It will backfire badly, which is even sadder. American tolerance for homosexuality is uneasy at best. The creation of special institutions, funded by government, that cater exclusively to homosexuals will touch off an outcry of classic dimensions.

We can only hope the whole idea gets flushed very quietly and very soon.

This idea has its good and bad points, but you MUST think about how we treat these people for being who they are. This goes back to the seperation of blacks and white where there were certian places and everything was divided. I guess what I’m trying to say is that instead of pre-judgeing these people we should be getting to know them better. If we stop beating them and making laws against who they are trying to be then maybe they would not need a special high school for themselves because they would be able to feel safe in knowing that they could come to school and other places and be safe.

    Will..

I agree wholeheartedly. It’s about time decent, intelligent gay students had the right to pursue education without the fear of being slammed into a locker. No special rights here… that’s not what it’s about. It’s about the ability to go about one’s business without having to look over the shoulder or endure the slings and arrows of unhappy homophobes. They don’t want ’em in their schools?? Good for them. They’ll form their own. The Catholics have been doing it for years.

I am gay and going to a high school that is completely homophobic and is hard on you b/c all the critism and judgment and all the harse words that come out of other teens mouth really hurt and i tink a high school of just gay students is great b/c no one can talk about anyone else b/c you will all be the same.

Listen i am a student of the hetrick martin high school for gays and lesbians. I see that a few of you have a problem with the whole ideas of homos having there own school. Or that you think that gays dont know who they are to say that they are gay or not. let me be the first to tell you that, how can you say that we dont know who we are. you havent not been in our shoes. you have not walked a mile in a our footsteps. So for you to make those aligations such as,

“These are pre-pubescent youths and teens well short of being able to make a reasonable ‘choice’ or ‘realization’ of their orientation. Therefore they cannot ‘consent’ to such choices by virtue of their youth.”

It’s wrong. To argue my case as a homosexual male may be irrelivant to you, but to some of you out there who have a heart and a brain think about how much FREEDOM we have. That we can now speak our own peace. To do what we can do now that we are out and that we know what we are. So all i ask is that you please stop “hatin” and start showing some respect….

Personally, I don’t have a problem with homosexuals. I have family who are homosexual. However, giving 3.9 million dollars to a gay school of 100 students is retarted. What are they going to do? Recruit gays for the school. It’s already sad enough we have to RAISE money for AIDS and shit like that, but what are they going to do with the money. Promote safe sex? Build a make out place. it’s stupid and unconstitutional. I hope it’s not Bush raving out tax payers money like that to one school. Why not give that money to special children or find a cure for bone marrow disease? What ever happened to the ” No Child Left Behind” Law?????

I’m a gay 16yr. old male, and i think that have schools only for gays, lesbions, and bi’s is the best idea that i have ever heard, because there is so much harrassment going on the schools agaist gays, lesbions, and bi’s that they just dont want to go to school anymore.Well that just how i feel, plus im living with my grandmother that is a homophbe, that won’t say it. but she is. i know how it feels when the people closest to you just stop talking to you just because your gay, it’s bullshit!

But now the world is opening the damn eyes and realizing that there are different people everywhere and the need to get to know someone before they judge then but i am said my peace……. ooo BTW i am now 18

Having a child killed due to intolerance and hate, is the hardest thing a person can go through. The problem with our schools is the fact of people being uninformed or ignorant about glbt issues. There is not enough room here to tell you what it is like to have your son tied to a fence post and beaten to death because he was gay. My son, Matthew, would of given a complete stranger his last dollar if he was asked..why should it matter if he was gay? So, if an all glbt high school is what will keep our kids safe, then God speed!

I think that gays should have their own school. May say that you have the right to be gay. But in the eyes of god you are sinners. You can’t not disagree. If you do disagree when buy a bible and read. If you don’t believe in religion then look at science. It proves it. Beside don’t you guys think that it is a sin.You don’t see gay animals do you?

I think its ridiculous to even think about giving them a school…They should be harassed maybe it will make them think twice about their decision to become GAY! we dont have all white schools, or all black schools so why should they be treated any differently.

I think it’s a GREAT idea, I just think it’s too bad that people need to have negitive comments about it, I mean a lot of people don’t know how hard it is for gay youth to go to school, people are so easy to judge. We dont have white schools or schools for people who have lisps because people don’t get harrassed for being white or what ever. There is nothing wrong with being gay, and if anyone has something to say to me, my emails [email protected]
