Well I had to work late and only came into the radio version about halfway through (i.e., I caught most

Mind? Is there even one there to explode?

It’s not the Democrat Underground who’ll need cleanup in aisle 3. It’s the entire foreign policy establishment of the world.
The President of the US, in one of the most heavily vetted speeches of the year, just declared that it is US policy to treat declarations of war by subnational groups as actual war.
Do you know when the civilized world got rid of that?
1648 – with the Peace of Westphalia that closed the 30 years war.
Foreign secretaries all across the world will need new underwear after their morning briefings, enemies *and* allies.

When Bush said ‘the terrorists declared war…’ he was referring to the act of detroying the WTC more than any group simply stating that they ‘are at war with the US’.
Going after terrorists who attack us, in a war format, should be a problem for no nation that is not aiding and abetting terror.
If terrorists are hiding in your country send YOUR military after them–AND–allow ours free passage. This will show a commitment to ending terrorism.
Not pursuing the terrorists–and attempting to keep the US from pursuing them will result in your nation being classed as a supporter of terrorism–which, by your actions, you have confirmed.

So what? That didn’t stop any of the wars, anarchy and other mayhem for the next 340 or so years. Besides, it’s not relevant. Were the Barbary Pirates awed by the Peace of Westphalia? It’s so great that the “civilized world” waits until a Hitler is legally elected to office and actually starts a “legal” war before doing anything about it. “civilization” my ass.

Dave, I think you missed the point completely, and managed to get it exactly backward. Read TMLutas’ comment again.

I need assistance. I am of the mind that TMLutas’ is calling the US under W “uncivilized” regarding the war on terrorism, etc.

I didn’t get that sense from his post. Just that what Bush said ought to have scared the bejeezus out of quite a few people. And maybe it was meant to. Best drop him an email, if you’ve any doubt.
