Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

They fucked up the fucking up of the fuckup!

Stamping your little feets and demanding that they see how important you are? Not working anymore.

No one could have predicted…

A fool as well as an oath-breaker.

Their boy Ron is an empty plastic cup that will never know pudding.

There are more Russians standing up to Putin than Republicans.

They think we are photo bombing their nice little lives.

We’ve had enough carrots to last a lifetime. break out the sticks.

But frankly mr. cole, I’ll be happier when you get back to telling us to go fuck ourselves.

Jesus, Mary, & Joseph how is that election even close?

This fight is for everything.

Do we throw up our hands or do we roll up our sleeves? (hint, door #2)

Museums are not America’s attic for its racist shit.

Hot air and ill-informed banter

How any woman could possibly vote for this smug smarmy piece of misogynistic crap is beyond understanding.

They are lying in pursuit of an agenda.

Reality always lies in wait for … Democrats.

Marge, god is saying you’re stupid.

Is it irresponsible to speculate? It is irresponsible not to.

This is dead girl, live boy, a goat, two wetsuits and a dildo territory.  oh, and pink furry handcuffs.

Tide comes in. Tide goes out. You can’t explain that.

Republicans don’t lie to be believed, they lie to be repeated.

“Alexa, change the president.”

If you tweet it in all caps, that makes it true!

Different Strokes for Different Folks

by John Cole|  March 14, 20047:24 pm| 46 Comments

This post is in: Democratic Stupidity

Remember when Hugh Shelton, former Chairman of the Joint Cheifs of Staff, made these remarks:

I’ve known Wes for a long time. I will tell you the reason he came out of Europe early had to do with integrity and character issues, things that are very near and dear to my heart. I’m not going to say whether I’m a Republican or a Democrat. I’ll just say Wes won’t get my vote.

You remember the faux outrage? Why no outrage when John Kerry makes the following claim:

”I’ve met foreign leaders who can’t go out and say this publicly, but, boy, they look at you and say, you gotta win this, you gotta beat this guy, we need a new policy,” said Kerry, who has talked about taking a trip overseas as part of his campaign.

I’ll tell you why there is no outrage, no demand for Kerry to name names. It has to do with what follows Kerry’s name:

(D).

It really is that simple.

Those Democrats

This post is in: Democratic Stupidity

Many times I am accused of hastily writing posts- saying things like “It is pointless to argue with Democrats.” Every time I do, someone states that I am going overboard- that not all Democrats are the same, etc. Recently, Gary Farber has rightly made similar claims. I say rightly, because most of the time I do not mean ALL Democrats, even though I think it is rather clear who I am talking about- the fringe elements within the party, so Gary’s crtitiques are often pedantic arguments about semantics and rhetoric.

At any rate, so as to clear up any past confusion and avoid any future problems, when I make sweeping statemtns about ‘the left’ or ‘Democrats,’ recognize I am not talking about everyone, but those represented by total ASSHATS like Atrios.

Today’s entry from everyone’s favorite ignorant phys. ed. teacher is just a gem:

Election in Spain

So far, going against Aznar’s party, PP.

…looks like George’s only friends are Blair and Islam Karimov.

In other words, terrorist have changed the outcome of an election in Spain, using the deaths of 200 innocents to bully a population into submission- and this is a victory for Atrios.

Human debris like Atrios are not a reasonable, ‘moderate,’ political opposition. They are swine, incapable of viewing anything in the world through anything other than an irratiuonal hatred of George Bush.

Change in Bush Campaign Ads

So as not to offend the delicate sensibilitiesof Ryan Lizza, James Zogby, Atrios, and Oliver Willis, in the future, all terrorists in Bush 2004 campaign commercials will be portrayed by this man:

I’m scared.

The Race Pimps

You can tell it is an election year- the race pimps are at it again. Here is Ryan Lizza in his debut as an Al Sharpton wannabe:

Bush’s first round of ads became immediately famous for using images of Ground Zero and a flag-draped body being carried away from the rubble of the World Trade Center.

His newest spot, “100 Days,” might soon become famous for another campaign first. It is the first ad to use the image of a dark-skinned man who is obviously meant to be a terrorist.

The ominous slow-motion footage comes about halfway through the 30-second ad. A female voiceover darkly warns about John Kerry’s agenda, charging, “On the war on terror: weaken the Patriot Act used to arrest terrorists and protect America.” On the left of the screen flash the words “John Kerry’s Plan.” On the bottom a red box warns, “Weaken Fight Against Terrorists.” If you look closely, on the right side of the screen you can see an airplane taking off.

The center of the screen is filled with three different rectangles of slow-motion video. In the top panel travelers at an airport study the arrivals and departures monitor. In the center panel there is a shadowed image of a person wearing a gas mask. And on the bottom there is a close-up of a swarthy, somewhat sinister-looking man with darting eyes who slowly turns toward the camera. He is clearly the terrorist in this scary montage.

The Bush campaign held a conference call for the press this afternoon to unveil the ads, and one reporter asked whether it was appropriate to use an Arab-American to depict a terrorist. Campaign aides said the actor in “100 Days” wasn’t Arab-American. One official on the call insisted it was just a “very generic” image.

A.) The actor who played the mythical terrorist was not arab.

B.) Even if he was, so fucking what?

These are the same idiots that think because in Gibson’s Passion, some Jews crucified Christ, therefore the film is anti-semitic. You know, there is a difference between these sentences:

“Some jews crucified Christ.”

“THE JEWS crucified Christ.”

Race pimps. They will do anything to divide.

*** Update ***

Dumbest comment of the month- “Why didn’t they just use a real terrorist.”

Umm… Then the image would probably have been ofArab descent, and your reaction to that would be rather predictable.

Terrorism in Spain

I don’t want to talk about the terrorist bombings in Spain, so if you want information, the Command Post, Matt Stinson, Robert Tagorda, Bird Dog over at Tacitus and the Instapundit pretty much have the issue covered.

On a personal level, Idon’t think I could say it much better than Macallan at Tacitus:

We are all Spaniards today. May God bless and comfort those who have suffered.

Also, if you are so inclined, the Instapundit and Norbizness have links for donations, flowers, and general support. To donate to the International Red Crosss online, click here.

For a Good Laugh or a Diversion

The terrorist attacks abroad make today a pretty lousy day, overall, so if you need something to cheer you up, head over to the always worthwhile Right Wing News and check out Ted Rall’s whacky theory about why he wasyanked from the New York Times.

American Realpolitik ‘s cartoons are always good for a laugh, as is Scrappleface.

Or for a completely ridiculous and throughly addictive waste of time, you could visit this site (damn you, Dean).
