Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

When we show up, we win.

Accountability, motherfuckers.

You can’t attract Republican voters. You can only out organize them.

Let the trolls come, and then ignore them. that’s the worst thing you can do to a troll.

Pessimism assures that nothing of any importance will change.

It’s a good piece. click on over. but then come back!!

… pundit janitors mopping up after the gop

“Just close your eyes and kiss the girl and go where the tilt-a-whirl takes you.” ~OzarkHillbilly

Relentless negativity is not a sign that you are more realistic.

“What are Republicans afraid of?” Everything.

How stupid are these people?

Well, whatever it is, it’s better than being a Republican.

Shallow, uninformed, and lacking identity

Sitting here in limbo waiting for the dice to roll

But frankly mr. cole, I’ll be happier when you get back to telling us to go fuck ourselves.

The willow is too close to the house.

SCOTUS: It’s not “bribery” unless it comes from the Bribery region of France. Otherwise, it’s merely “sparkling malfeasance”.

The fight for our country is always worth it. ~Kamala Harris

Reality always lies in wait for … Democrats.

Humiliatingly small and eclipsed by the derision of millions.

These days, even the boring Republicans are nuts.

In my day, never was longer.

Never entrust democracy to any process that requires Republicans to act in good faith.

Their freedom requires your slavery.

Paging the NY Times

by John Cole|  September 8, 20041:09 pm| 44 Comments

This post is in: Democratic Stupidity

If you are a member of the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy such as myself, after learning about the anti-Bush jihad the mainstream media has planned for the electorate, you probably can’t help but feel like the press is nothing more than cheerleaders for the Kerry-Edwards campaign. After all, they have admitted as much:

All Vietnam, All the Time

by John Cole|  September 7, 20048:45 pm| 20 Comments

Fresh from the news that their candidate is trailing in the polls, the major media networks are launching an all out push in defense of their man. The New York Times Boston Globe is set to claim Bush did not meet all committments with the National Guard, and NBC is launching a three day jihad with Kitty Kelley at the forefront.

Meanwhile, the rest of us are allowed to question John Kerry’s record patriotism.

In other news, John Hawkins scored an interview with John O’Neill.

Iraq Part of War On Terror

by John Cole|  September 7, 20048:39 pm| 4 Comments

This post is in: Democratic Stupidity

I guess Iraq is part of the War on Terror, after all:

”Today marks a tragic milestone in the war in Iraq; more than 1,000 of America’s sons and daughters have now given their lives on behalf of their country, on behalf of freedom, the war on terror,” Kerry said as he arrived in Cincinnati on a campaign stop.

Putin ‘Gets It’

by John Cole|  September 7, 20045:19 pm| 6 Comments

This post is in: General Stupidity

It appears the Reuters/Michael Moore ‘freedom fighters’ crowd pissed off Mr. Putin:

Mr Putin was answering questions from an international group of Russian specialists and journalists, including The Independent, at his residence at Novo Ogarevo, outside Moscow. In a wide-ranging conversation, which lasted for three and a half hours and ended only after midnight, Mr Putin said that Russia was quite prepared to show flexibility towards the rebellious region of Chechnya in future, but “not with those who do not stop at shooting children”.

His fists clenched, he said: “No one has the right to advise us to talk to people like that. I don’t advise you to meet Bin Laden, invite him to Brussels and Nato or the White House, hold talks with him, and let him dictate what he wants so that he will then leave you alone. But you tell us that we should talk to everyone, including child-killers.”

If you look to the right, I have installed the Kerry War Watch to help keep up with Kerry’s position on the war in Iraq. Thanks to MommaBear for the design.

I will update daily as necessary.

Weird World of Josh Marshall

by John Cole|  September 7, 200411:10 am| 13 Comments

This post is in: Democratic Stupidity

So Bush wishes Clinton well at a rally, the crowd of partisans cheers, and the AP lies and claims that the crowd booed. Finally, the facts come out, and a correction is made. What bothers Josh Marshall?

Karen Hughes went totally apesh-t at the AP when that dispatch hit the wire.

She stormed up the bleachers and starting screaming at the AP writer (who took it in stride). “They didn’t boo! Were you and I in the same rally! What is this crap?” or something along those lines (it was loud in there). The AP writer then canvassed his colleagues, who all said they hadn’t heard any boos.

Say what you want about McClellan (“dreadful briefer,” “talking points only”), I don’t think he’s ever screamed at a reporter…

The blatant fabrication and out and out lie doesn’t bother Marshall. Hughes yelling to get the lie exposed does. Telling.

Another Whopper Unchecked

by John Cole|  September 7, 200411:05 am| 7 Comments

This post is in: Democratic Stupidity

Just to keep you up to date, as of this week-end, John Kerry is against the War in Iraq. Meanwhile, he is still telling some gems (via Tom Maquire):

Asked his timetable for pulling troops out of Iraq, Mr. Kerry told a few hundred people in Canonsburg, Pa.: “My goal would be to get them home in my first term. And I believe that can be done.” He said he would make it clear that “we do not have long-term designs to maintain bases and troops in Iraq.”

Mr. Kerry has said he could replace most, but not all, American troops with foreign forces within four years by offering new inducements to other countries.

Three questions:

1.) What inducements.

2.) What countries?

3.) What troops?
