Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Hi god, it’s us. Thanks a heap, you’re having a great week and it’s only Thursday!

A norm that restrains only one side really is not a norm – it is a trap.

Let’s delete this post and never speak of this again.

Let the trolls come, and then ignore them. that’s the worst thing you can do to a troll.

if you can’t see it, then you are useless in the fight to stop it.

Putin must be throwing ketchup at the walls.

We’re watching the self-immolation of the leading world power on a level unprecedented in human history.

This isn’t Democrats spending madly. This is government catching up.

Too little, too late, ftfnyt. fuck all the way off.

I did not have this on my fuck 2025 bingo card.

Democracy is not a spectator sport.

I’m starting to think Jesus may have made a mistake saving people with no questions asked.

A fool as well as an oath-breaker.

The words do not have to be perfect.

Also, are you sure you want people to rate your comments?

Donald Trump found guilty as fuck – May 30, 2024!

My right to basic bodily autonomy is not on the table. that’s the new deal.

I like political parties that aren’t owned by foreign adversaries.

Historically it was a little unusual for the president to be an incoherent babbling moron.

Humiliatingly small and eclipsed by the derision of millions.

Compromise? There is no middle ground between a firefighter and an arsonist.

Trumpflation is an intolerable hardship for every American, and it’s Trump’s fault.

Why is it so hard for them to condemn hate?

Jack be nimble, jack be quick, hurry up and indict this prick.

If you haven’t already, check out this month’s Wired magazine, which has two fun stories, one about milbloggers by one of my favorite reporters, John Hockenberry (who is great on NPR’s The Infinite Mind), and this piece on how much the internet has changed things over the past ten years. The story about Banksy is worth a read, as well.

    From Wired:

Since each of its “transistors” is itself a personal computer with a billion transistors running lower functions, the Machine is fractal. In total, it harnesses a quintillion transistors, expanding its complexity beyond that of a biological brain. It has already surpassed the 20-petahertz threshold for potential intelligence as calculated by Ray Kurzweil. For this reason some researchers pursuing artificial intelligence have switched their bets to the Net as the computer most likely to think first.

So that’s why Skynet eradicates the human race – it woke up and found itself surrounded by cheesy porn, popup ads, leet kids, and gasbag bloggers. (Present company excluded of course.)

Hockenberry was on the Daily Show this week. Sounded like a sharp guy.

Link: Balloon Juice. Thanks to John for pointing out this article in Wired. I will always remember John Hockenberry’s fabulous overnight radio show on NPR during the late 80s. I loved the show, and I still think it was some of the best radio I have ev…
