I think we ignore Drudge because we hate America.
srv
This is just evidence that this is all smoke-and-mirrors. If we were really going to mop up all the bad guys, we should see alot more troops dying.
But, as was predicted, the Shia militias are playing along with us and may be willing to wait awhile. Depending, of course, on what happens to the government.
When I see 100 troops dying each week, I will start believing that we’re really committed to a unified, secular democracy in Iraq.
Dug Jay
And if you are REALLY, REALLY a moron, you read and post at Daily Kos, as did this diarist at the web’s center of “progressive” thought. This “intelligent” person finds a lot to admire in the closing statement of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed at his tribunal in Gitmo: Daily Kos: The Eloquence of an Enemy Combatant.
Mike
And if you are really a FUCKING MORON, you will ignore true statements, no matter the source.
Dug Jay
Mike, I do not consider you my sex advisor. If I really wanted your FUCKING advice, I would ask for it.
Respectfully,
sidereal
Laf. Dug Jay, way to compare the credibility of the acknowledged go-to guy for mainstream media storylines with the credibility of a random pseudonymous diarist. I know it’s listed as a money play in the playbook right next to ‘blame it on Clinton’, but you have to know it’s just masturbation. It’s a move to make yourself feel better by changing the topic. It doesn’t actually convince anyone who doesn’t already carry the torch.
Ted
Want to see some Freeper or LGF posts? I’m sure I can find a dosen doozies of extermination fantasies on any random thread I look at…
Mike
Thank you Dug for proving my point. I did not say you were FUCKING A MORON, but you have definitely proved yourself to be a FUCKING MORON.
Again.
Have a nice day.
demimondian
Hey, Dug Jay — want to include a URL for that screed?
Mike
Why is it that you idiot rightwingers are so obsessed with sex? Has it been that long? Or ever?
demimondian
And, if you really want an unhinged, shrill screen, you ought to head over to The Commissar’s Place and read the comments on his take on this story. They’re kind of comical.
Dug Jay
Oh, come on, Mike. You’re among friends, friends that are totally familiar with your “little” problem; you see, your ex shared it with us on a different blog.
I will have to say, however, that your posts here lead me to believe that the grey matter in your cranium may also be a tad on the small size.
Mike
Well, I don’t have an ex, so you may be thinking of a different person named Mike. It is the most common name for men. As for your name, well, Dug Jay, I think Projection is thy real name here. On both accounts….although in your case the projection is obviously not very long….
Mike
Looks like that DKos diary you pointed to is a poorly planned trick by LGF….
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2007/3/15/154746/375
cleek
don’t bother, Greenwald’s done the work for you.
Catsy
Nice catch, Mike.
What a great metaphor for the whole Drudge flap. Imitation, flattery etc.
Dug Jay
Rather than a planned LGF trick, it is clear that the Kosites have attempted a neat little after-the-fact cover up.
demimondian
Yup. A planned slander.
You do realize that conspiracy to defame is a crime, right, Dug Jay?
Dug Jay
The new list of DNC-approved media outlets for Democrats:
The View
Countdown with Keith Olbermann
Air America
Michael Moore documentaries
Anything else and they run the risk of a dangerous drop in their DKos straw poll numbers.
As to the risible comment of demimondian, if defamation were a serious concern, then many, many of this blog’s regulars may need to seek counsel.
Tim F.
Um, I don’t think that Dug Jay understands how Daily Kos works. If our pal wanted to register and post a diary claiming that Osama Bin Laden has the most cuddly kissable ass, there is nothing in the world to stop him. Same for Charles Johnson.
There’s nothing conspiratorial about somebody registering for the sole purpose of posting an inflammatory diary. It’s one of the more boring types of troll behavior that happens at Kos.
That Johnson’s crew is a band of half-literate morons is hardly news. You really don’t want to join that club.
Bubblegum Tate
I’m assuming Dug Jay is a spoof, but that aside, can somebody please explain the conservative fixation with The View? They seem to care about it way more than its intended audience does. Do conservatives aspire to be heavily botoxed soccer moms or something?
Tim F.
The Democrats have debates hosted by all of the major networks except FOX. Tell me, are you trolling or a functional retard?
Dug Jay
Tell me, are you trolling or a functional retard?
With Tim F’s sense of humor, or lack thereof, I am beginning to think that name may merely represent a new pseudoynm for Andrew Sullivan, another humor-challenged RETARD.
dreggas
Two words.
Rosie…O’Donnell.
Tim F.
Non-answer. This doesn’t resolve my dilemma, since both a troll and a retard would miss the point of what I said. Care to give it another try?
kestrel9000
Hey, Dug Jay, I just ran across the thing, and recognized Judy19 (commenter in thread) as an LGF troll from the last time I called the asswipes out.
Nice how we got threats of violence from a rightwinger post haste.
Sit down and shut the fuck up, loser.
Dug Jay
Oops. Forget to include this from LGF in the earlier comment:
dreggas
Hey kestrel how goes?
dreggas
better than what you retards offered that’s for damn sure and oh…forgot…they don’t “have trouble with the english.”
Mastodon
Yes, Dug, one troll diary out of 1000’s posted every month at dkos is the entire be-all end-all speaking voice of the entire progressive side of the blogosphere. Wow, you nailed them I guess. Concrete proof that the entire left loves Al Qaeda and wants America to burn, burn into flames I tell you.
Man, you are beyond pathetic if this is all you got.
jg
I swear I’ve never visited Kos or watched a Michael Moore documentary. Am I still allowed to hate GWB?
Ryan S.
If anyone wants to see the linear regression. To see for themselves, the untruth of the Drudge article.
Ryan S.
Also if the Discovery Institute says something you can almost alway asume the opposite.
Bubblegum Tate
Yes, but you’re going to have to turn gay and perform a minimum of 25 abortions in order to solidify your ‘Murrica-hatin’ bona fides.
dreggas
Hey don’t the abortions have to then be consumed much like an oyster shooter? Or was that just me one upping everyone else? :P
Richard 23
At least Drudge doesn’t deal in fauxtography and forged memos.
His track record is pretty good compared to the MSM.
Andrew
Pfft. That’s just one moderately crazy weekend in Tijuana.
As for shooters, I thought that everyone knew that the abortions should be deep fried for the best flavor.
dreggas
I got a recipe from down south for fried green fetuses
Bubblegum Tate
Well, what I described was just the baseline minimum. What you did is sufficient to qualify you as an Anti-American Pioneer. If you want to be an Anti-American Ranger, you also need to personally bring 250 illegal immigrants across the border. If you want to be an Anti-American Super Ranger, you need to do all of the above (though the abortions should be served with fava beans and a nice chianti, as befits your effete librul sensibilities), up your immigrant number to 500, and make sure the illegal immigrants gay marry.
dreggas
What if I brought them all over the border, served the abortions as enchiladas to them and myself, had gay sex with all of them afterwards then performed the gay marriages of all of them myself?
Shabbazz
>> His track record is pretty good compared to the MSM.
It’s true — John Kerry had an affair that will ruin his presidential run. He also ate alone which, as this poorly cropped photo demonstrates, PROVES that he hates the troops. And Bill Clinton personally murdered Vincent Foster.
To suggest that Drudge has a good track record, or that he even resembles a bona fide journalist, is some gut-busting hilarity! As is the suggestion that Faux News is not part of the evil and dreaded “MSM” (whatever the hell that is).
Richard 23
I know you guys think you’re being funny, but do you realize that since Jan 1, 2001, 61,155,001 abortions (and counting) have been performed in the western world? It’s no laughing matter, people.
grumpy realist
Why not?
Richard 23
Thanks for the links, Shabbazz, to those Drudge stories you’ve debunked. You’ve thoroughly discredited Drudge with your impressive fact-free straw man. Congratulations on speaking truth to power.
Drudge is going to need some ice for that powerful beating you’ve just given him.
Actually, you’re dishonest as hell. But don’t let that stop you.
Shabbazz
Richard — here’s your link: http://www.google.com
If you expect me to delve through Drudge’s “extensive archives” thereby generating additional advertising revenue for him just to satisfy your flame-baiting ego, you are sadly mistaken. Do your own research. And get a sense of humor, while yer at it. You’ll need it — ‘cuase the guy’s a joke.
Shabbazz
Aw, hell, I couldn’t resist.
link
Click that first link. You know — the one that has Drudge saying “Kerry will implode over intern scandal”. Hmmm…Doesn’t seem to be an active link? Why — it’s almost as though it disappeared down the memory hole after it turned out to be totally bunk. Which, incidentally, was after it got a few good cycles in the newspapers and talk radio.
What was that you were saying about being dishonest?
embed your links or we start up with the Cindy Sheehan threads again – ed.
The Other Andrew
I wonder why Bush hasn’t tried to do anything about those abortion numbers…could it be that he knows that if the Republicans lose centrist women, their electoral chances are dead in the water?
Also, I’m all for bringing those numbers down, Richard. Since getting people (please note that I didn’t say “teens,” conservatives like to act like it’s just a teen issue, rather than a human issue) not to have sex is pretty much impossible, let’s make sure they have birth control.
Richard 23
Thanks. I can’t read this thread now.
My Commodore 64 is only 40 characters wide.
I declare this thread officially Shabbazzed.
Richard 23
The Other Andrew, perhaps this is a good way to approach the moral stain on our country that abortion represents: Purity Balls and Purity Vows.
Shabbazz
>> Thanks. I can’t read this thread now. My Commodore 64 is only 40 characters wide.
When you get around to joining us in the 21st century, maybe you can revisit this thread and pry your foot from your mouth.
RSA
From a pro-life Christian ethicist concerning abortions in the U.S.:
What’s changed? It’s hard to tell, specifically, aside from the economy, the war, and other things that may seem peripheral to the number of abortions (but may be important factors in reality). But I think it might be worth reconsidering what works. Sex education and easy access to contraception might help among teens, for example. Abstinence pledges, probably not so much. I expect that ideologically this is a tough sell, but if the most important thing is to reduce abortions, you’d think that compromises might be helpful in related areas.
Richard 23
Well, RSA. At least you can post a thoughtful response. And I bet you know how to embed your links, unlike some people around here.
It’s possible that the division in our country since 9/11 and the Iraq war have shaken our country to its core. Seeing and hearing all the enraged and hateful rhetoric aimed at our President by the anti-war kooks probably has a demoralizing effect on our entire culture.
Young women likely are affected by this and it lowers their self-esteem. Since America is tearing itself to pieces, they react by acting out. By rebelling. Having sex outside the bonds of marriage is the ultimate in rebellion and getting pregnant is often the result.
There are even internet forums where girls as young as 12 talk about how they want to get pregnant and pregnant teens discuss their sad stories. There’s even a forum out there where girls talk about how they like to have abortions! It’s a sick sad world.
I’m sorry I don’t have the links. I don’t remember where I read about the abortion forum.
Andrew
POTD.
Andrew
This may be true in the alternative history universe where the comet missed and dinosaurs continued to evolve alongside humans, but the most important thing in this universe is making sure abortion is always available so the wingers have another talking point.
Shabbazz
>> And I bet you know how to embed your links, unlike some people around here.
BooF*ckingHoo!
Quit yer bellyaching already.
Bubblegum Tate
Then you, sir, will be a Supreme Court Justice.
RSA
Well, Richard 23, I think we may have different theories about causes and effects, but that’s only to be expected for a complicated problem.
Andrew makes a good point on this topic, if I read him correctly. There are some people on the right who seem to get an enormous amount of political mileage out of refusing to compromise, refusing to consider any kind of partial solution to what some consider the problem of too many abortions. The Dobsons of the world don’t simply want to eliminate abortion; they want the entire package all at once: no abortion, no pre-marital sex, and for all I know no divorce and no contraception. (I don’t know that Dobson specifically wants that latter two, but certainly it’s a prominent part of conservative Catholic teaching, even if not accepted by a lot of American Catholics.) I’d think that if they were really interested in doing something helpful, they’d evaluate the tradeoffs. “Contraception versus abortion–what’s the greater evil?” I guess they don’t think that way. (By the way, I’m not attributing these views to you, Richard 23; I don’t know what you think.)
Andrew
Sleep is when I’m chased by velociraptors!
mrmobi
Where to begin. First, this is the dumbest thing I’ve EVER read. Whatever schools you attended should be immediately closed.
After 9/11, we were the most united America I have seen in my lifetime. We could have united most of the globe in a struggle against murderous muslim religious fanatics…
Instead, our government chose to use the opportunity to consolidate their political power, abandon long-honored treaties, demonize anyone who dared to oppose their “end-times” view of history, and attack a country which had nothing to do with 9/11!
So let me get this straight, you are attributing the rise in abortions to the “enraged and hateful rhetoric aimed at our President by the anti-war kooks,” eh? So a vigorous political debate causes pregnancy. Who knew. Thanks for the info. I’m sure the policy geniuses in the administration are hard at work utilizing this marvelous insight of yours. Really, you should expect a call, because although your idea here is really moronic, you are loyal, and that is what this administration values above all. You may get the medal of freedom!
Listen Dick, I’ve got a news flash for you. War is a bad thing. It is to be avoided if at all possible. Calling everyone who disagrees with you, as a country, “satan” or part of an “axis of evil” doesn’t help. It may be true, but it doesn’t help. It’s stupid, like you and most of the supposed conservative commenters here. When I want to know what real conservatives think about Iraq, for instance, I’ll take Bill Odoms or Bill Buckley or John Dean’s advice. I may not agree with them on much else, but at least they understand that when you’re in a deep hole and you want to get out, you stop digging.
Finally, you demented religious maniac, please find a link to a forum “where girls talk about how they like to have abortions.” Please. Otherwise, I’ll have to assume you really are the most delusional person I’ve ever encountered anywhere.
Richard 23
So, RSA, if I understand you correctly you’re pro-abortion, pro-pre-marital sex, pro-divorce and pro-contraception.
Wow, what a loon! I take back that “thoughtful” adjective.
Abortion is more evil than contraception in my personal opinion. As far as I am concerned we as a nation need to address abortion first, contraception later.
Forcing condoms on 6th graders is not the answer. Stressing the value of female purity is at least part of the answer. IMO, of course.
Beej
Wow! It’s been a while, Richard 23. I guess I thought that maybe, just maybe, the old double standard had waned in strength and might be on its way out. I guess not. So it’s still FEMALE purity we’re worried about, is it? What about a little MALE purity to go along with that? Unless of course you really think that all those pregnant, impure females got that way through immaculate conception!
But no, MALES, you see have to go out and have sex outside marriage. It’s required! Any male who doesn’t have sex from the time he’s at least 18 is “odd” and may just be “one of those”. Just one problem, of course, where are all these manly men going to get the women to have sex with once all the women are “pure”? Well, we all know the answer to that, don’t we? They go to the “impure” women, the whores, the ones that really should be stoned. Then they can feel good and guilty about that, just as they should, and Voila! we’re back to “sex is sin”, “good girls don’t, but good boys do”, and the old double standard is alive and well in the 21st century.
Excuse me, I have to go hurl now.
Ted
I don’t think I’ve ever read a more ridiculous imitation of social science in my life. Again, I hope Richard 23 is a parody.
Ted
I truly hope the GOP adopts this platform of yours. Start a legislative war on contraception, and that will be the end of the GOP. Hell, even your abortion position would accomplish it.
Sounds good, there, Khamil. Let us know how that turns out.
Richard 23
Keep your dick in your pants. That’ll help.
In my research I’ve found that the ‘best’ whores have been really stoned.
Why thank you very much. Really. But keep in mind I’m only an amateur. I’m only brainstorming here. And I have to present things in a format in which you wackjob leftist kooks can understand, ie, kindergarten level.
Keep speaking “truth to power,” Ted. It’s what you’re ‘best’ at.
Richard 23
You must have me confused with someone else. But then you’re a dimwit, so I forgive you. Have a wonderful friday, kook!
RSA
Good one, Richard 23; you trolled me pretty well. It’s hard to imagine any American being in favor of any of those things above. In response, I assume you’re in favor of the bill in (I think) North Dakota, which outlaws abortion for any reason? I don’t understand how you conservatives always end up favoring rapists when it comes to parental rights.
RSA
Oops. I’m getting sloppy. That should have been, ” It’s hard to imagine any American being against outlawing all of those things above.
John S.
Wow.
Another thread with a troll to commenter ratio of 3:1…
Just another day at Balloon Juice. Although I do find it interesting that since the November election, all the actual conservative commenters on this site vanished like a fart in the wind. All we have left are trolls, spoofs and trolls spoofing trolls. The right-leaning commenters all retreated to the safety of Protein Wisdom, Ace of Spades, etc. I wonder why.
ThymeZone
Adding this to my collection of Really Great Lines I’ve Seen At BJ.
Thanks, I may steal it.
ThymeZone
You mean, the parade of kool-aid addicts and Bush ass kissers who fucked up this place two years ago, who beat their chests with phrases like “we won, get over it” and “Iraq is like Colonial America” and “the world is better off without Saddam?”
Yeah, they retreated because their bullshit didn’t feed the bulldog. Let me tell you something basic about how argument works on the Intertrons (usenet, blogs, wheverever):
When you see whining, the whiner has lost the argument, or doesn’t have an argument. Always, one hundred percent of the time, that is true.
Rome Again
Well, I gotta tell you, I see nothing wrong with pre-marital sex or contraception. Why would you find it hard to imagine ANY American being in favor of these two things?
Personally, I say we get rid of marriage all together and just be like the animal kingdom, doing it whenever the desire comes over them. They have the right idea.
ThymeZone
I like this idea a lot. Personally, I think I would like to be in the petting zoo. I can’t get enough petting.
Rome Again
Awww, I’ll pet you TZ, as long as you don’t smell like goat hair. Ewww!
RSA
Pure sarcasm (if I understand this comment correctly). I’m too lazy to look up surveys of American opinions on abortion, pre-marital sex, divorce, and contraception, but I’d imagine it’s only the tiniest fraction of wingnuts who would want the last three outlawed, and a clear minority on the first as well.
ThymeZone
Okay, I’m going to have to get back to you on this one …..
What about freshly shampooed goat hair?
Just asking.
Freshly shampooed and conditioned, let’s say. We’re talking about upscale goat here. Or, goat hair here, if you’ll allow me.
Rome Again
Nevermind RSA, it was the fact that I didn’t see your correction.
Rome Again
Gosh, I dunno, TZ, goat hair is pretty rank stuff, I’m not so sure you can cover the smell. I’ll have to think about that one.
ThymeZone
Is RSA related to NSA?
What is the truth behind the SA family?
ThymeZone
I appreciate it.
Rome Again
I’m sorry, TZ, after much thought, I’ve decided that it you smell like goat, I just can’t… I just can’t do it I tell ya.
Sincere apologies.
Bubblegum Tate
OCSteve popped up again a little while ago, which was pretty cool. I hope he pops up again sometime–he’s a rational John Cole conservative instead of, you know, a wingnut.
Andrew
You’ve got my vote for supreme dictator for life.
Grrr
More like a meta-troll, twice removed. Or not…who cares.
Conservatism has been discredited both in theory and practice. Downsizing “big government” is a pipe dream. The GOP always knew this, which is why they are always trying to change the subject.
In the real world, the GOP’s temporary pass granted by 9-11 has expired. What’s left is a MMORPG of winger tools who generally don’t post opinions until they hear them first from Malkin, Limbaugh or Hannity.
Which is a shame really. Things were not always like this.
Rome Again
Thank you for your vote Andrew, but, alas, I am just a lowly worker bee. I am not in the business of power, sorry.
les
Ok, I know I’m late, but this has to be nominated for the stupid hall of fame. Never let it be said that BJ doesn’t have the lowest class of trolls or spoofs or brain-damaged mimes or whatever. You know it can’t be real; a mind that could come up with this wouldn’t possibly be able to read.
pacified
More babies need to be aborted.
Richard 23
This is what passes for ‘deep thinking’ on the left. Incredible. “Let’s do it in the road.”
Good luck with that Rome.
So let me get this straight: According to Rome anonymous sex “whenever the desire comes” is better than having a committed relationship in marriage?
I just want to know how immoral and far out you really are.
canuckistani
Alternative theory: Rome Again is already in a committed relationship in marriage. A decade or so of that and anonymous sex whenever the desire comes starts to sound pretty good.
Darrell
Late to the thread, but how bout Tim and the other libs square a couple of basic facts with your partisan narrative:
1) Drudge’s report, although from a foreign new service and this big disclaimer: The statistics excluded US troops killed in other governorates such as Al-Anbar, Diyala, and Salahiddin., was still correct. Violence in Baghdad has been reduced. It would have been better to have reported deaths throughout Iraq, but the report was still correct in that the crackdown, so far, looks like it’s working. Not quite the slapdown that Tim and the rest of the echo chamber here claim it to be.
2) And why, since the AP and NYTimes have now belatedly confirmed that there really has been a reduction in bombings and deaths in Baghdad, why was it only Drudge who reported this news event early on, when other news outlets with far more resources should have been doing their jobs reporting it earlier?
Doesn’t that demonstrate a bias on their part, that they wouldn’t report this positive development because they didn’t consider it “news” from their perspective?
Rome Again
I’m so far out that I believe marriage is nothing more than a human confine placed on normal mammalian behavior. I believe we are animals, just as much as those in the Wild Kingdom, and would have the same normal sexual hehavior if it weren’t for human conventionalism and control.
Rome Again
Tell me Richard 23, is divorce a normal behavior? Would you say that the majority of sexually active (past or present) humans have had more than one sexual partner? How is this any different than normal animalistic mating? Perhaps marriage and divorce is the abnormal and you’ve just been conditioned to believe differently?
Richard 23
Yes. Yes. Humans do it for pleasure, not just procreation. No.
You’re welcome.
