Here:
In this one, a lucky tip and Roethlisberger’s haste to try to get points when Pittsburgh wasn’t in position to score late in the first half helped get the Colts back into the game after Pittsburgh led 7-0 and 17-7. All three of Roethlisberger’s interceptions were pivotal.
“You’ll never hear me say ‘I’ anything, but I lost this game,” said Roethlisberger, who appeared to be crying into a towel when reporters entered the locker room. “I take it on myself. I let the guys down on offense and defense. It hurts, but we’ll learn from it.”
I thought accepting responsibility was dead.

I blame Obama.

It takes guts to actually come out and say that. I give him credit.
Granted, I don’t usually have a dog in the fight, but the Colts win made my workplace fan of the Colts insufferable yesterday.
Zifnab
When was the last time the Colts beat the Steelers on home turf? 1960-something, wasn’t it? Man, that’s got to hurt.

@Zifnab: 1968
Bastard Colts.

Reminiscent of PSU QB Daryll Clark’s statement:
Nobody likes a loss, but I like how these guys are adults.

Well, he’s obviously not a Republican.

Big Ben’s two minute drill at the end of the game was gawd awful. It took him a minute to run two plays and he couldn’t get a play off as the two minute warning was coming. Still, crying into a towel is a bit much. Your family didn’t die in fire Ben, you lost a football game. There will be another one next week. Suck it up and play better. There is no crying in baseball football.
Keith
I think what he meant to say is that he apologizes if his playcalling was misunderstood.
Jay B.
Ok, Big Ben "accepted responsibility" for playing like shit.
Now what? Is he going to give up his paycheck? Will he lose his starting job? Is there some other ramification for this? Of course not. I’m not saying he should, that would be ridiculous, I’m just pointing out that the consequences of taking the blame for one loss in the NFL are about nil — and since there are almost no real consequences, it’s hardly a profile in courage to take the rap. Their season didn’t end. They still have ample opportunity to make the playoffs. There’s still a half of a season left.
The Penn State kid, on the other hand, knows that he probably cost his team a chance at the national championship. He’s got the weight of the world and thousands of idiot alumni on his back. My heart goes out to him.

I’d like to ditto boonagain.
Accepting responsibility is not something we’re gonna see from this administration – similar to how the good news last week was not the fault of the McSame compaign. And, actually, they’re right. they had no chance once Super O hit the ground running.

I call it leadership. Be generous with credit for the wins, accept responsibility when you don’t come through. I always liked watching Roethlisberger – I like a quarterback who will break and run or take a hit to make the play. Now I respect him as a man.
My spousal unit, by the way, thought it was a bad omen when his first couple of passes were on the numbers. We are used to him taking a few minutes of playing time to hit his stride.
Bubblegum Tate
I just hope this means he will be more focused next week and not make game-killing decisions.

@Sarah
Perhaps we could talk him into running in some republican’s district?
