Beware of advice from anyone for whom Democrats are “they” and not “we.”

It’s the corruption, stupid.

Dear elected officials: Trump is temporary, dishonor is forever.

Conservatism: there are people the law protects but does not bind and others who the law binds but does not protect.

The Hype Man

by John Cole|  June 7, 20081:23 pm| 34 Comments

This post is in: Election 2008

Terry McAuliffe is a riddle wrapped inside an enigma for me. Some days I think he is simply off his rocker, other days I think he is a lying fool, and I never know what to expect from him. His Baghdad Bob-like assertions over the past few weeks have been hysterical, and he has shown up on the Daily Show to say insane things, and he showed up at MSNBC at 6 am in the morning “reeking of ether” according to Pat Buchanan and toting a bottle of Rum. How am I supposed to take this guy seriously?

And then, just a minute ago in the shower, it came to me. I am not supposed to take him seriously.

Terry McAuliffe is Flavor Flav.

Discuss.

I really don’t know how she does it, and this is not an attack. She is up there on stage, and she just endorsed Obama, and here is the thing- she looks like she means it. I simply do not understand how she just keeps going like the energizer bunny. No matter what you think about the Clinton family, you have to be amazed by that ability to just keep chugging along.

*** Update ***

Chris Matthews is making me want to stab my ears with an ice pick so I never have to hear anything so stupid again. Losing is like “rigor mortis.”

Not this Rigor Mortis, either.

Effin’ idiots.

*** Update #2 ***

WTF is Terry McAuliffe wearing? An orange-striped Izod with a blue blazer?

*** Update #3 ***

And wtf is KO talking about? Hearing her convincingly say “yes we can” really says it all for you?

Kill the media. Start alphabetically, with say, Broder.

No to Sam Nunn

by Michael D.|  June 6, 200810:01 pm| 63 Comments

This post is in: Election 2008

One of the names floated to be Obama’s running mate is Sam Nunn. I say no.

Senator Sam Nunn removed two aides a decade ago for being gay, and gay rights groups are now contending that his action disqualifies him from a post in a Clinton Administration.

Mr. Nunn, the Georgia Democrat who is chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, has confirmed that he asked the two aides to leave because of their homosexuality.

We want change. Sam Nunn, for all the good he’s done, is not change.

Cheering While Black

This post is in: Assholes, I Read These Morons So You Don't Have To

In a post called “Wild Savages Open Thread,” “Chicagoan” at No Quarter ask us to compare and contrast a sermon at TUCC and this YouTube video of people celebrating at a rally in Cincinnatti:

The caption reads: “Unrestrained and potentially violent Obama supporters at a rally in Cincinnati, Ohio.” He then goes on to describe all Obama voters as low information voters who rely on emotion.

My only question- now can we call these folks at No Quarter racist fucks?

*** Update ***

And just like that, the post is gone before I got an expanded screen shot.

Thank Goodness The Adults Are In Charge, Episode 923783

by John Cole|  June 6, 20085:48 pm| 43 Comments

This post is in: Military, Republican Crime Syndicate - aka the Bush Admin.

Awesome:

he US military has awarded an $80 million contract to a prominent Saudi financier who has been indicted by the US Justice Department. The contract to supply jet fuel to American bases in Afghanistan was awarded to the Attock Refinery Ltd, a Pakistani-based refinery owned by Gaith Pharaon. Pharaon is wanted in connection with his alleged role at the failed Bank of Credit and Commerce International (BCCI), and the CenTrust savings and loan scandal, which cost US tax payers $1.7 billion.

The Saudi businessman was also named in a 2002 French parliamentary report as having links to informal money transfer networks called hawala, known to be used by traders and terrorists, including Al Qaeda.

Interestingly, Pharaon was also an investor in President George W. Bush’s first business venture, Arbusto Energy.

It never stops.
