Rush Limbaugh, who spent the last eight years fluffing C+ Augustus so much that he voiced relief when he no longer had to defend them, is now taking to Fox News attacking Obama for… not doing his own work in college and law school and that other people wrote his law review articles:
Gotta love that affirmative action dog whistle- “turn his c’s into a’s.” Limbaugh dropped out of college after two semesters of flunking every course he took .
moe99
I can’t watch. NSFW. Does he have any named sources? Any sources whatsoever?

This may or may not be true. I doubt it. But let’s say it is.
Who cares? So, he didn’t do his own homework. You know what my parents threatened me with when I didn’t do my own homework? Poverty and LIVING IN A VAN DOWN BY THE RIVER.
But Obama is President. So clearly it doesn’t matter whether he did his own work or not. He’s successful.
They Republicans are really grasping at straws here.

Dazzling demonstration of your wingnut Puke Funnel turned up to boogaloo.
Gawd sure had nothing to do with giving this sewer trout breathing rights.
Chuck
Didn’t Obama write like exactly one article for the Harvard Law Review?
Rush doesn’t really care what he says. It’s not like his followers give a fig about notions like “truth” anyway. It’s like calling foul on me for failing to obey a rule of The Glass Bead Game or something — I don’t know the rules, and I don’t even know I’m playing it. The only trouble really is that they insist in jumping back into real reality every now and then and screwing with it.
Eljai
Rushbo didn’t have any problems the last time we had a C student in the White House.
Gunner
I have 8 years of data on how a C student performs in office. It’s pretty clear Obama isn’t a C student. Either that, or a C at Columbia is like an A+ at Yale.
MattF
@moe99
Oh please. ‘Sources’ are so… unnecessary. Limbaugh has a ‘model’ of Obama, he draws conclusions from the model. Since the model is true, the conclusions are true. QED.
Napoleon
@moe99:
Yeah, Obama is black which means there is no way he could get As.
They ran this same playbook against Sonya S. Even though she won the highest academic award at Princeton and got outstanding grades in their world she only made it once she got there because of affirmative action. They can not admit otherwise because it proves that affirmative action work.
By the way, didn’t Obama not list his race on his collage applications? I don’t even think he got in anywhere due to affirmative action let alone any benefit once he got there.
David in NY
I’m not gonna watch. But I dearly hope he defamed some professor at Harvard (or the institution itself) and gets to be deposed on his sources for this so-called information.

…because a black guy can’t do better than Cs.
There’s no way to get around this. It’s not bigotry, it pure racism by definition. Rush is an asshole.

@Chuck:
You always only write one as a second year student. Otherwise your time on the review is fact and cite checking as a second year and editing as a third year student.

Chuck
Hate to repeat myself so early on, but let me see if I can sum up Shorter Rush:
Rush [gesticulating at picture of Obama]: SCREE FLERRGH URRRFF CHRRRKKK BLRRAAARRR!!!
It’s just that he has to dress that up with English sentence structure. Attacking the structure of this window dressing is entirely irrelevant to them.
TR
This is an interesting tactic to take, especially since we just saw Obama give a virtuoso performance — no notes, no teleprompter, nothing but his wits — in his smackdown of the House Republicans. He clearly doesn’t need anyone to do his thinking for him, and I’m not sure what angle the GOP sees in trying to suggest otherwise.
Maybe I’m overthinking it, and they’re just moronic assholes.
geg6
For all the idiots out there who apparently don’t have a fucking clue what it means to be the goddam editor of the Law Review, here’s a good explanation along with the bogus bullshit charges being flung about by BoB and his big media minions:

Geeze Louise, these people are stupid. Oh, and that first sentence isn’t directed at any BJers. Just being a bit exasperated, I guess.

I remember reading Althouse a while back where she described her frustration listening to libertarians–at a meet-up she was invited to– talk about how wrong it was to pass the Civil Rights Act. Her frustration turned to tears asking, “how do I know you’re not racists?”
She’s become a huge fan of Rush, I wonder how she knows he’s not a racist?

Why don’t block quotes work for me?

Yeah, you could see that intellectual mediocrity when he spoke for an hour and twenty minutes destroying every feeble argument at the Republican House retreat last week.
Sue
AND, let’s not forget his excessive use of a teleprompter while he was destroying the Republicans the other day. Can’t write, can’t speak, can’t think on his feet … It’s just so obvious that he’s not standing on his own merits but was given everything due to his race.
One of the great mysteries of this age is how Rush is taken seriously by millions of people while Orly is generally considered fringe-crackpot. Have you ever seen those two together? I think they’re the same person.

So I’m guessing that combined with Obama’s Reverand Wright and Bill Ayers “associations”, this new Law School Grading Gate is really good news for John McCain.

Rush Limbaugh is in the position of never having to tell the truth because he has positioned himself such that the act of asking for the truth is contrary to the service he provides.
It’s like a magician. The performer stands on the stage, thumps the box, taps the sword and has the pretty girl do a spin. “All perfectly normal” he proclaims, and then proceeds to cut the girl in half.
The box could be rigged, the saw rubber, and the girl two drawfs in a dress and it is understood by the audience that of course on some level they are being lied to, but they are willing to put that aside in service of the entertainment.
In fact, if someone tried to be critical of the magician’s statements (espcially during the performance) the audience in general would turn on them.
Rush is in the same place. On some level his audience *wants* to be lied to.. and they actively move to remove anyone who would pull back the curtain.

I was just about to comment, ‘can you imagine if W had ever had to confront questions from Congressional Dems?’
But then I remembered that the Congressional Dems during the Bush regime, offered about as much resistance to the Republicans as butter offers to a hot knife.

I’ve heard people call into Rush’s show, sneak past his phone screeners and reduce him to a quivering, sputtering mound of bile flavored jello on his own damn show.
One of them was a female reporter for a local radio station, I recognized her voice and delivery.

The lies and liars FOX News promotes are now exposed prior to actual airing.
Surely they knew someone who was on the law review with Obama was going to prove Limbaugh a liar, and, of course, someone did.
It’s incredible. It simply doesn’t matter. They’ll say anything.
Zifnab
@Hiram Taine:
It’s not quite the Berlin Wall of phone screeners, either. Just pull up a few wingnut talking points and spout them to the guy on the line, and they’ll let you through.
I did it twice in college, for kicks, and got through both times. Then I just stopped listening to him because who the fuck cares what Rush has to say?

It’s obvious that a Halfrican-American with a white mother and a Kenyan father is not a ‘real’ American. Born in Kenya! Massive cover-up!
It’s obvious that a black Democrat could never have won the office of the presidency fairly and squarely, and on his own merits. Surely a cabal of ni&&ers on welfare rigged the election for him. Hello, ACORN!
It’s obvious that a black could never have graduated with high honors from a prestigious university on his own merits. Affirmative action! Liberal academic conspiracy!
On the other hand, it’s completely obvious that George W. Bush is a Texan, graduated from Yale and Harvard on his own merits, and won the presidency fair and square.

Nothing surprises me with a sociopath like Rush. Sometimes I wish I lived in such a separate reality, but since I’m not a highly-paid right-wing radio star, I’d probably be committed as criminally insane.

@Alan:
As I said during the whole Sotomayor nomination kerfuffle, they genuinely believe that no minority or woman can be as qualified as any random white dude. They really think that, for example, my brother who never went to college and works blue-collar construction jobs* is actually more qualified to be on the Supreme Court than Sonia Sotomayor is because, well, just look at him! He must be smarter and more knowledgeable.
(Not that there’s anything wrong with not going to college or working blue-collar jobs, just pointing out that it does not qualify you to be a Supreme Court justice the way going to law school and having a distinguished career as a judge qualifies you to be a Supreme Court justice.)

On a related note, very little surprises me about the right wing anymore, but I couldn’t believe it after the elections when conservatives jumped on the he’s-not-bright-and-has-to-use-a-teleprompter meme. They could really do that with a straight face and without an ounce of shame after eight years of Bush? A man so incapable of thinking on his feet and responding independently to criticism that his campaign made sure he only appeared in environments surrounded by supporters? They could do this after Sarah Palin?
__
Of course the fact that Obama is black and Sotomayor has absolutely nothing to do with conservative claims they are intellectual light weights who benefited from affirmative action, and would be scurrilous to suggest otherwise.

I agree that we’re witnessing the death throes of a certain mindset. But these people are hooked in – for instance, this evil is not only perpetrated by Beck, Limbaugh, and Fox news. What about the local Fox affiliates? What about every newspaper Newscorp owns? What about their other tv channels?
They’re everywhere, everyday pushing this hateful message. They all take their cues from the top and march faithfully along this nihilist path. And we are all powerless to do anything about it.

Rush can say whatever he/she wants. I just don’t expect any different from him/her. What I do find incredible is the forum he is provided to spew. NO, that doesn’t surprise me, it just continually sickens me. No challenge, no response; just a mick shoved in his face. No attempt to be anything but an open mick to the politically frustrated and stray wannabes.
Pathetic, but hardly new.

This seems to be a common pattern for these radio bloviators – Michael Savage crashed and burned when he tried tv, too and in a similar fashion. They revel in the control of the one-way communication mode.

We don’t need no stinking sources; we can assume that Rush is just full of shit all the time. This is typical flunk-out contempt for the guys at the top of the class. It will never stop until Rush’s microphone is taken from his cold, dead hands. I went to Columbia and if I could get A’s there, Obama, who is ten times smarter than me, could easily get them. Rush is sooooo jealous of the people with real credentials.

This is exactly why RL is doing it. It irks them to have Obama hand them their heads so to speak with the utmost of ease.
The GOP found out they won’t be called out by the MSM for their lies. So why should they stop now?

The birth certificate thing was a dessicated broken piece of angel-hair thick straw, and yet the GOOPers grasped it and successfully convinced most of their own core supporters and tea-baggers that it had sufficient convincing basis to fuel their attitude that Obama is an illegitimate usurper of the Presidential office, lacking even the requisite qualification of citizenship.
Now they are going after his reputation as a whip-smart intellect by not only attacking his academic bona fides, but portraying him as a shiftless and lazy usurper of law school honors he didn’t deserve either. Actual facts won’t matter. They’ll probably be able to find ONE or two conservative activists who were students at Harvard Law School during the era when Obama was there, who will claim to be familiar with his improper work habits. It will turn out, however to be indirect “I heard” or “some people say” sort of evidence on closer examination.
This academic dissing of Obama will be supported in a similar fashion to the way some Vietnam vets who are now wingers who spoke out against John Kerry’s combat service accounts, who turned out to have no first-hand experience with Kerry or the relevant incidents whatsoever; they simply knew that after he left the country he turned in to some sort of antiwar protestor/hippie, and that was enough to validate any sort of rumors they claimed to have heard about him. Even when they didn’t know shit from shinola.
BDeevDad
Who cares. According to the wingers Liberty University is equivalent to Harvard anyway.

In a weird and irrational rant, Rush Limbaugh started to call us, liberals, “Looney Tunes” characters, “kooks”…etc. He said that he doesn’t understand the controversy since liberals who complained about health care reform “are retards”.
Limbaugh made it clear that he won’t going to apologize because we “are retards”. So now I’m wondering if Lady Sarah will head to her computer’s keyboard and type one of her famous Facebook’s posts to denounce Limbaugh’s comments and ask him to resign. But we all know that Sarah Palin will never call out Limbaugh.
