Those bastards in the dem nay slot are going to find themselves in some pretty crappy committee jobs.

I have wood. Is that so wrong?
dmsilev
Where do I go to sign the petition to get CSPAN to play the theme from _Jeopardy_ during moments like this?

Hello, Once again thanks for all your work. The tubes are slow so if you put up an act blue page tonight, can you also put one up tomorrow when the system works a tad faster.
Stevens was right!
slag
Why does it take 15 minutes to press a button?
Jeffro
Or just crappy jobs, period.
mai naem
You just have to watch Fox to see exploding heads to know that 216 has been reached.
mr. whipple
C’mon. I’m having a spaz!
VOTE YOU DUMMIES!
curious

209 @ 3:25 to go! (Note to self: remember to breathe.)

I can’t even watch the real thing happening. I’m just hitting “refresh” here. I’ve probably said it more times than Edwards said “son of a millworker,” but both of my parents died young with no health insurance. I’ve waited a long time for this day to come!
dmsilev
211 yeas. Oh so close.
-dms
SGEW
Even tho’ we knew the votes were there, this is still kinda tense, isn’t it?
There we go: past the 216 mark. Phew!

Merry HCRistmas, one and all. Hey, General, go down to the corner and buy me the biggest HCRistmas turkey you can buy. I want to celebrate.
Sasha
OK, who are the 34 “Nays” that need to be primaried?
asiangrrlMN
Oh, thank god! Now, what the fuck is the next bill?
Evil Bender
It is time for a happy dance.
Snark can wait for tomorrow morning.

Y’all are making me feel all hopey/changey here. Apparently everyone in the country is trying to access BJ right now – so slow!
geg6
Motion to recommit and then the sidecar. Almost there.
General Egali Tarian Stuck
Now for the senate blood match that will make today seem like tea with the friekin queen. But netherwell this fucker is law. Good job democrat CC;ers. You got off the mat and gave us imperfect HCR, but 32 million souls will get health care, and those with it are more secure, whether they know it now or not.
Sir Nose'D
2500 mg of potassium cyanide used to be my long-term health care “plan.” It was brilliant–it would have prevented my family from going bankrupt to delay my inevitable death. Now what I supposed to do with them?
Comrade Kevin
I can hear the wails of the teabaggers! What sweet, sweet music.
williamc
We did it! I can’t believe its finally over.
Congrats everyone, its drinking time.
demo woman
The tubes are slower now than on election night..
meander
Thanks to a little noticed provision in the bill, after the president signs the bill, all anatomy textbooks in U.S. medical schools will be replaced by Mao’s Little Red Book, and all drug reference guides will be replaced by Das Kapital.
OK, the excitement is making me a little giddy. I had the good luck of turning to CSPAN right at the end of the vote (which went only 15 minutes, not like the 3 hours of the Medicare Part-D vote),
eemom
holy shit……what is this Michigan fuckwad up to?
FormerSwingVoter
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
SUCK IT, YOU TEABAGGING BASTARDS!!!
FSV +7
(don’t judge me, i have off tomorrow)

@General Egali Tarian Stuck:
Do I have to worry about the motion to recommit the Democrats didn’t read?
Adrienne
I love that the moment they hit 216 the Dems starting chanting “Yes We Can!” on the House floor.
Now the Repubs are trying to get us to add an abortion poison pill to our own bill that they won’t vote for… And this asshole Dem, Pitts from PA, needs to go away and die if he can’t stop lying.
mr. whipple
@eemom:
This is the scary one. This must go down, and too many 9087wits on the dem side voted no last time.
Nellcote
WTHell are the goopers talking about regarding abortion in this bill? It feels like they’re talking in a different language but using english words. Bizarre.
low-tech cyclist
Fireworks courtesy of Ludwig van Beethoven!
dmsilev
What’s the over/under on the number of times that these twits will say “abortion”?
-dms
Andre
@Sir Nose’D:
You’ll be lowering the overheads of setting up all those death panels, of course!
Chuck Darwin
Steny Hoyer is actually looking sexy at this point.
Nellcote
Wow! Stupack stands up to defend the dems agains gooper abortion bs.
dmsilev
Ah, so the price of Stupak’s voting in favor is that the rest of the Democratic Caucus has to fellate him in public.
-dms
eemom
OMG……Stupidpak to the rescue.
demo woman
@FormerSwingVoter: fyi.. although I only had three glasses of wine, I listened to Abba’s waterloo 7 times.
Three-nineteen
I cannot listen to Stupak again.
South of I-10
These old fucks need to step the hell away from my uterus.
AkaDad
That hopey changey thing seems to be workin’ out pretty well.
Luthe
They must have given Stupak some *good* ego stroking, because he’s on the floor telling the GOP to STFU about the motion to recommit.
Adrienne
I love that the moment they hit 216 the Dems starting chanting “Yes We Can!” on the House floor.
Now the Repubs are trying to get us to add an abortion poison pill to our own bill that they won’t even vote for… And this asshole Dem, Pitts from PA, needs to go away and die – without his cushy gov’t healthcare – if he can’t stop lying.

@eemom:
I hate to say it, but he done good.
Comrade Kevin
The little Balloon Juice web hamster is running as fast as he can, but he’s having a hard time keeping up.
curious
is it “in the middle of the night” yet? just wondering how much longer the republicans plan to delay voting so that that choice phrase can be bandied about mtp and accompanying tv spots.
demo woman
Stupak actually talked about life and not fetuses, I’m shocked.
dmsilev
Looks like party unity is quite a bit stronger on these procedural things. Only a handful of defectors so far.
-dms
lamh31
CNN reporting that someone on Repub side shouted out “baby killer” to Stupak
IndyLib
Hallefuckin’luja!!!
lamh31
Now of course John King trying to pardon the GOP.

How long before somebody creates a mash-up video featuring Boehner yelling, “Hell No You Can’t!” and Obama/crowds of people responding with, “Yes we can?”
suzanne
Oh my God. It passed.
I think I just came.
Annie
@suzanne:
I think it was a collective come…
AkaDad
@suzanne:
Obama’s package had the same effect on me.
Annie
@AkaDad:
LOL. Perfect response…

And just think of the multiple orgasms we could have had had there been a public option, or the tantric bliss of single-payer……..

Now, now. There’s gushing over politics, and then there’s . . . well . . .
You know, I’ll just stop there.
Annie
@Anonsters:
Don’t tease….
Comrade Kevin
Here’s the vote breakdown.

@Annie:

@williamc:
It’s not over. The teabaggers will be back for financial regulation, immigration reform, DADT repeal, tax code reform… This is the first step. But it’s a good one.
suzanne
@AkaDad:
Once you go black…
;)
Annie
@Comrade Kevin:
Which democrats were “nay?” If they think they are “saved” or “born again,” they need to think again…They underestimate progressives…
Comrade Kevin
@Annie: The Democratic No votes are the ones not in italics on the No part, at the bottom of the page.
Nutella
Some of the crazy Christianists were complaining that having this vote on a Sunday (and in Lent!) was sacrilegious.
Rush Holt has an article over at HuffPo reminding us all that the last time Congress met to vote on a Sunday was in 2005 when they voted on the federal government taking over Terry Schiavo’s health care from her doctors and family.
Worth remembering when we hear a Republican claim to be against government controlling health care decisions.
Comrade Kevin
@Nutella: If they were so offended by having to work on Sunday, they could have stayed home, and not voted.
Blaine Whipple
I agree with mr. whipple about the “poopheads.”
