Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Fight them, without becoming them!

I really should read my own blog.

Shut up, hissy kitty!

Also, are you sure you want people to rate your comments?

Books are my comfort food!

If you tweet it in all caps, that makes it true!

The line between political reporting and fan fiction continues to blur.

Republicans don’t want a speaker to lead them; they want a hostage.

You can’t attract Republican voters. You can only out organize them.

Conservatism: there are people the law protects but does not bind and others who the law binds but does not protect.

With all due respect and assumptions of good faith, please fuck off into the sun.

JFC, are there no editors left at that goddamn rag?

It’s easy to sit in safety and prescribe what other people should be doing.

She burned that motherfucker down, and I am so here for it. Thank you, Caroline Kennedy.

The worst democrat is better than the best republican.

Their freedom requires your slavery.

GOP baffled that ‘we don’t care if you die’ is not a winning slogan.

Authoritarian republicans are opposed to freedom for the rest of us.

This blog will pay for itself.

It may be funny to you motherfucker, but it’s not funny to me.

One lie, alone, tears the fabric of reality.

Someone should tell Republicans that violence is the last refuge of the incompetent, or possibly the first.

America is going up in flames. The NYTimes fawns over MAGA celebrities. No longer a real newspaper.

There are more Russians standing up to Putin than Republicans.

By request, a brief video of the girls at the park today- the glare was so bad all my movies sucked, but there was this:

I’ll put up a picture of Tunch once I can find him.

I hope your JR is on the lo-cal kibble. They usually have the metabolism of hummingbirds, so it’s kind of surprising to see a chubby one.

    Yay for the ladies!

A still picture of Tunch would be awesome, but you really have to get video of him hot-rodding some time, if only to silence the doubters. (E pur si muove!)

Pretty doggies! My little Pepper was at the endocrinologist today for an ACTH stim test. She’s already diabetic and blind, now we’re looking at Cushing’s. The good news is that the ultrasound ruled out a liver tumor. I also saw the cutest poodle-schnauzer mix that you could ever meet. 13 years old and could still be mistaken for a puppy from her demeanor.

I’ve never visited the Daily Caller, but it must be one big snoozefest. They are now going after Henry Farrell of Crooked Timber for the crime of expressing joy at Barack Obama’s election http://crookedtimber.org/2010/07/22/outed/. The wingnuts are obviously trying to drum up some kind of witch hunt, but they haven’t yet decided what type of witch they’re hunting for. Life must have been so much simpler for them when all they had to do was scream “Commie!”.

    It’s quite unbecoming of them.

@SIA: SIA, thanks for that. Not to get all mushy or anything, but this day has been coming for a while and was hella stressful. Vet specialists and unemployment are not a good mix, but what can you do. At nine, Pepper’s still young for a schnauzer.

    @jeffreyw: THE SoCal burger joint.

Mmmm, calories. I remember those. I remember greasy burgers and carbohydrates. Sigh.

Loved the video Mr. Cole. One is all about the winning. The other is all about smelling the roses….or you know the old dog poop.

her former family’s kids called her Molly Mae, so I had to make the blog for them!

Molly is very excited to be getting a e-collar, so we can expand our range onto the bike trails. .. she is lovely off leash, but I’m in tourist town, So Total Control is required. (2+ years of continuous training to come – sigh – )

“I’m coming to get ya”? ORLY?

How ’bout some truth in advertising? More like “We’re ambling in your general direction, and one of us is even distracted from that.”

If this were the trailer, I would not be queuing up to see the movie. Unless it had that voice-over guy: “In a world . . .”

Rosie running looks like a short horizontal version of the stay puff marshmallow man that moves. Not fast, but moves.

    That is one sausage-shaped pooch.
