Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

The GOP is a fucking disgrace.

We’ve had enough carrots to last a lifetime. break out the sticks.

The truth is, these are not very bright guys, and things got out of hand.

They traffic in fear. it is their only currency. if we are fearful, they are winning.

When I decide to be condescending, you won’t have to dream up a fantasy about it.

I’d try pessimism, but it probably wouldn’t work.

“And when the Committee says to “report your income,” that could mean anything!

Sitting here in limbo waiting for the dice to roll

… pundit janitors mopping up after the GOP

It’s always darkest before the other shoe drops.

Putin must be throwing ketchup at the walls.

Following reporting rules is only for the little people, apparently.

Innocent people don’t delay justice.

After roe, women are no longer free.

Spilling the end game before they can coat it in frankl luntz-approved dogwhistles.

Consistently wrong since 2002

Republicans don’t want a speaker to lead them; they want a hostage.

This really is a full service blog.

Not all heroes wear capes.

Motto for the House: Flip 5 and lose none.

How can republicans represent us when they don’t trust women?

You don’t get to peddle hatred on saturday and offer condolences on sunday.

Ah, the different things are different argument.

We’ll be taking my thoughts and prayers to the ballot box.

Just a reminder to all of you out there to remember to order your Pets of Balloon Juice 2011 Calendar– they make the perfect gift for Christmas and they will certainly brighten up your office space. I gave my mother one, and she remarked that it was of exceptionally high quality, so thanks for all the hard work, Laura W!

Mine came Friday, too. High quality and hours of entertainment checking out the endearing and amazing pets of the B-J readers.

@jeffreyw: Aaahhh! That is just too, too sweet!

    @jeffreyw:
The dog’s name is Annie, right?

Nice of her to adopt Homer. She may have a buddy for the rest of her life.

@Linda Featheringill: Yes, that’s Annie. Annie sometimes wonders if motherhood is all it’s claimed to be. Homer delights in pestering her.

Thank god, something different, was this close to killing and eating my dog because, seriously, we’re doomed!

@jeffreyw: I thought it was Annie; it would have been funny if it were one of the boys, though.

@arguingwithsignposts: Lady Smudge is gorgeous, so she deserves it.

My orange boy, Apollo, is on January’s page, left of center. Kind of like my politics. ;-) He’s the big fat kitty with the amazing orange eyes.

We call Keaton “Mr. Charm and Personality.” Everybody loves him, including the vet tech who cleaned his teeth and gave him a big lipstick smooch on the forehead afterwards for being so good.

@jeffreyw: Annie looks like my mom’s dog Boomer. So I always show her your Brittany pics.

And Mnemosyn, Keaton looks like our old kitty Ralphie. She lived to be 19 years old. Barely tolerated us humans, but loved her puppies. She died in her sleep, curled up getting warmth from the light of a table lamp.

    And YAY! Keith’s back!

Got ours. Our rockhead Golden, Wenatchi, is poking her head over the snow-covered bush in January, and the best first dog ever, Hannah, is middle of the page in December. We love it! Thanks, Laura W! This had to be a fun project.

    @jeffreyw: Ahhhh-dorable. :)
@Mnemosyne: You’re right, I can’t tell where one ends and the other begins, but they’re so damn cute.

Luna has two adorable quirks that I’ve been trying to capture on camera. One is that she often lifts one ear quizzically, but not the other. The other is that shelays with one back leg out, like a doofus. I personally find it adorable.

We’ve had her since July, and I was looking at some pictures of her from when we first brought her home. She’s already grown so dang much. We’ve had her on Science Diet, because that’s what she was fed at the shelter, but I was thinking about switching her to the Costco brand food. Anyone have any luck with that food? I look forward to paying less for dog food—I dread the unrelenting farts she’ll let loose until she gets used to it.

We got 4 and are trying decide which lucky 3 people get them for Festivus. They’re lovely, although it’s hard to admit the other hundreds of cats and dogs are as cute as ours!

John, maybe you could leave this post up until the holidays, with a link on the front page?

That way we could have a virtual show and tell, one place to go to point to our critters, and an easy place to go to find out which pets go with which commenters.

    Pretty please?
