    so next week, President Obama and First Lady Michelle will be visiting Ireland, England and France.

    While in London, on Wednesday, the President will deliver a speech to the U.K. Parliament. I read somewhere this speech would make Obama the First American President to speak to members of Parliament from Westminster Palace.

    I tried googling it, but I’m on my IPhone so the google ain’t helping me. So all you history buffs, is this true? Has another President ever spoken to members of Parliament. That just doesn’t seem plausible to me.

    Well, at least Belmont won’t be a madhouse this year. Of course, last year was a big bummer because I attempted to wager my first superfecta (picking the 1, 2, 3 and 4 finishers) and, due to my dislike for Sarah Palin, was unable to be on any horse with “Dude” in the name, thanks to “First Dude” (there was actually a horse with that name running) and stupid Game On Dude ran 4th and ruined it for me.

    My theory is that Omnibus Bills are face-saving means by which Congress hides such unconstitutional presidential diktats upon itself by the sitting president.
    Borking an “extension” would have been a matter of a mere public Mention by, or on behalf of, the president.

    Actually, if you want to socially pressure a particular ad buy out of rotation, see it and click it. Ad contracts are written in terms of run length, number of impressions, and clicks. Each click adds to the bill. Each view reduces the inventory of ads on the adserver, allowing other ads to be served.

    So clicking makes the ad more expensive, and viewing makes the ad go away.

    It also screws with the advertising analytics, meaning they are more likely to drop another 20 grand on the trolls.

    Tl;dr your clicks eat their money.

    They are at once glad that OBL was wasted, and full of contempt that it was not one of their own that did the deed, and doubly so from the first black presnit, that had already stepped out of line all uppity, passing HCR, for real, past the perennial lofty lefty talk of “gotta do something”, but always failing to deliver on this marquee liberal issue, in no small part due to right wing efforts.

    They couldn’t and can’t believe it still. And NOW Obama gets Osama, and his own long form birth cert seemingly by some kind of unholy design of unnatural demonic forces arrayed against the chosen wingnuts in this country.     EXACTLY my point, slowpoke. (Exective VERSUS Legislative, duh!) All of the Truman Administration’s GINORMOUS economic aid packages to Europe (1946-1948) were confirmed by Republican-led Congress after 1948, and over the heads of key Majority members and AGAINST the GOP election platforms.
    The once “abominable”-to-Republicans countenance of intra-European economic integration, and US underwriting of vast European debt loads, were knocked through by the prestige of certain persons inside the White House (Marshall).
    The British Empire (world policemanship) was handed off to the USA in everything but name. This was a radical departure in peacetime foreign policy. Ditto the blatant financing of imperialism (France) in Indochina.
    Robert Taft(R-OH) had to basically suck it. Obama could certainly make Boehner and Reid suck. Or look noble TRYING. You know; Profile in Courage…?

The Congress should never have passed the Patriot Act – it was done post 9-11 when Republicans thought Bush and/or Cheney would reign forever, but for you to imply that Obama should unilaterally abrogate the power it confers to him just highlights your callow naivete. It will never happen.

All the wingnuts, and enough dems and liberals scared a no vote would hurt them back home, where a marked majority of their voters approve of The Patriot Act. Dems and liberals, including Obama, scared silly that if they don’t support TPA, and a major terrorist attack occurs on American soil again, they would get blamed, and they would, fair or not.

    And while I do not support some provisions of TPA, especially warrants not meeting basic standard of Probable Cause, and the whole National Security Letters odious bullshit, it is not near as evil as earlier versions.

    You’ll still see ads, but they won’t be targeted at you.

    AK definitely not a super horse (at this point). He had the pace he wanted from the front runners & couldn’t catch a very game SHackleford.

    Shackleford was one of the first horses I can remember that looked like Hell in the post parade, took 5 dudes to shove him in the stall & still won a long race. I’d have never bet him that day (after seeing him act like that).
