BTW Other than Lear Capital and some Lou Dobbs “money minute” thing, all of the ads on the show in my area today were for local businesses, which of course my local stations makes money off, Rush gets nothing for those.

One comes at the expense of the other.

    Hasn’t this been obvious since day 1 of the Obama presidency? I mean, the whole debt ceiling debacle last summer sent a shudder through financial markets and caused consumer confidence to drop, hurting the economic recovery. Those (like me) who lost jobs in that period are collateral damage in the mission to destroy the presidency of that uppity you-know-what.

    All of the Clinton “scandals” were penny-ante compared to what every Republican administration since Nixon has gotten up to. That’s really hard, and not something that should be required of any president.

But the syndicator is probably trying to switch the arrangements with local stations to the cash system, where a station pays for the right to air the show but also keeps the rights to more or all ad slots. Blimpbaugh can likely survive for a while longer in an all-cash system, if he wants to, because it’s a lot more time consuming to pressure thousands of local advertisers. But an all-cash system will likely make a few stations drop him entirely because it’s riskier and less efficient.

    I just had a look over on pollster.com, which crunches every poll out there. They have him at disapprove 47.7. approve, 47.5, a statistical tie, which is his best approval since OBL shuffled off this mortal coil, and not far from what it was then (48% approve, 45% disapprove). But that was only a 2-month bounce. This time, there has been a steady upward trend for the last six months.
    The downward trending referred to is minuscule thus far. It looks more like a plateau at just a hair under 48% over the past month.
    If you look at the breakdown for R, D, and Independent, you see that since September, approval among D’s rose steadily from 76 to 81.3, but went down a hair over the past month; R approval rose from 7% to 10% between Sept and the end of 2011 but has been trending down since then and is now 8%; and independent approval has also declined very slightly over the last month.
    However, if you filter out internet polls, the apparent leveling off over the past month disappears.
