    I just belatedly picked up Garland Jeffreys’ album from last year, “The King of In Between.” It’s really, really good. I have no idea why Garland’s work has been so underappreciated over the years, but he’s been delivering the goods for almost 40 years.

    @burnspbesq:

    I only own “Ghost Writer,” which I bought back in the day (on vinyl). It’s a nearly flawless album that I thought would be a breakout for him, but not so much. Glad to know he’s still going.

    O/T

    I’m normally a lurker, but I just heard the awesomest Both Sides Do It thing in the world from the office wingnut. It’s okay that Romney beat up kids back when he was in school because Rev. Wright said something that might offend white people once upon a time (or, according to him, “the most vile hateful things for twenty years” while Obama cheered him on from the pew, apparently).

    No, seriously.

    Also, too, apparently Romney’s lack of recollection of the incident means the entire thing may be made up by Romney’s enemies. That was part two of his thesis.

    Excellentness.

    @Parrotlover77:
    Standard wingnut OP. The fact that Willard DID actually recollect the story and OTHER sources confirm that it happened, is also of no moment.

    @trollhattan:

    “Ghost Writer” is an amazing record, but I think “Guts for Love” is my favorite GJ album.

    Not much to report this week. Been listening to a lot of old and new Brazilian stuff, e.g., BiD and Seu Jorge, “E Depois.”

    The Putumayo anthology Brazilian Lounge is really good.

    One of my favorite lyrics ever.
