How do I find the Billmon, Poorman, and Steve Gilliard archives?
I’d kill for the posts from the Poorman apologizing for talking about the size of Tim Russert’s head.

How do I find the Billmon, Poorman, and Steve Gilliard archives?
I’d kill for the posts from the Poorman apologizing for talking about the size of Tim Russert’s head.

For Billmon these people used to have all his archives:

Teh Google is your friend.
Billmon Archives:

Poorman:

I saw the Driftglass memorial to Gilliard, which had some links off links, but sadly it was ‘slim pickin’s’.

Some Gilliard:

Until this moment I did not know that Gilliard was black. Goink.
Steeplejack
@Svensker:
I got the same Poorman link from Google, tried the site search for “Tim Russert” and couldn’t find anything on head size (or anything else useful). There needs to be a “curated” archive somewhere (wishful thinking).

Man I miss Steve. His stuff about Michael Steele and race in the GOP was epic.

Steve Gilliard died five years ago on Jun 3. This link is a good source for his writing:

I imagine him rallying the “fighting liberals” right now to move on from WI and fight harder than ever. Steve, from 12/3/03:

@Svensker: just tried this link-I’m at work- and the Vz LAN denies me access, reason “Proxy Avoidance”. It also denies access to Pharyngula as something like “Partisan Site”, but I can get to the Vatican website, and Bill Donohue’s Catholic Crybaby site.

The archive links are down the left hand side and are still active.

on the short list for Most Annoying Internet Cliché!
Plus, that Poorman site only goes back to Jan. 2008, and a lot of the goodies were earlier.
Maybe try http://wayback.archive.org/web/*/http://thepoorman.net/ for the earlier Poor Man stuff.

Damn, just looked it up and realized that Gilliard’s been dead five years.
Five years?

According to your blog posts on Apr , it was Brit Hume’s head?

@Judas Escargot, Your Postmodern Neighbor:
Really? I’ve been FTFY-ing for half a decade (at least — though of course the sentiment long predates 2007)?

Doug, been asked before, and I think it was Hume’s head

Archives were lost. Anyone ever explain what happened to the poorman?

This is interesting.
“TORNO SUBITO” is our movie. It is the world’s first free movie on the web in HD! To watch it you don’t need to take your car, look for a park and neither get any ticket.”

Found the link here http://tech.blorge.com/Structure:%20/2010/08/11/top-40-best-free-legal-movies-you-can-download-right-now/ I haven’t seen the movie.
“torno subito” means “return soon”, “ilmiofilm” means “mymovie”

@shoutingattherain:
Bilmon was the first blogger I read regularly. He got me hooked on reading blogs.
Brandon
Billmon was epic. His analysis of politics through Apocalypse Now and Catch-22 totally legend and spot on. His commentors were great too. I don’t know why he stopped blogging. I think he posted a couple items on Dkos after he shut down the bar. But haven’t heard from him since. I think his career got to be more important than blogging was.

Billmon, I’ll have mine in a clean glass, tyvm.
His was a great blog.
p.a.
after much research *koff* google ‘wayback machine’ and plug in desired url, ‘billmon.org’, ‘stevegilliard.blogspot.com’. click on the timeline bar graph and work your way through, but no search engine for specific posts.

Finally got around to reading the Matt Stoller thing that people have been going on about for the last two days. Wow. Much worse than I had imagined.
David Koch
@Burnspbesq:
I didn’t read it, but considering his famed prescient post declaring the death of Obama’s candidacy on Sept 12, 2007, nothing would surprise me.
It’s odd how so many “leading” bloggers emphatically said Obama would never win the nomination. You would think self described liberal minded people would have been at least open to the possibility. But no.
David Koch
@David Koch: Let me add, Stoller’s campaign obit is hilarious.
1) he predicts bringing Oprah on the campaign trail would be a losing strategy.
2) Obama would never be able to cobble together a coalition of youth, minorities, and liberals.
3) Obama is an elitist (sad given Stoller went to Harvard)
4) perhaps the funniest bit: declaring Obama had the worst internet strategy of all the campaigns.
5) that obama is lazy and is on CPT Time.
6) screams that obama doesn’t use the bully pulpit
7) Obama won’t return his phone calls (OMG!)
Stephen Colbert couldn’t write satire that funny.
kc
@David Koch:
You should read it; it’s a riot.
Bulworth
@Judas Escargot, Your Postmodern Neighbor:
Wow. I’m remember emailing him a time or two. That’s how old I am.
I like to imagine that Steve is up in heaven giving everyone there holy hell.

@p.a.: This is why we can never have nice things.
SFAW
I thought I’d seen billmon posting sporadically over the last couple of years, but being an Old Fart, I’ll be damned if I can remember where. If only there were some way to research that.
Re: Gilliard: five years? Shit. I still miss him. And his “Fighting Liberal” post is truly great.

Well, yeah, except the people (theoretically) on the receiving end would most likely already be in Hell, anyway.
Derelict
Truly one of the central mysteries of our time is
WHAT HAPPENED To THE POORMAN?
I tried emailing every possible address connected with the site, but, alas, no responses.
SFAW
Another great one MIA.
Brad DeLong might know his whereabouts. If you find out, please let us know.
Ronzoni Rigatoni
Steve G. usta answer all comment questions personally. At least that was my experience. Driftglass is a graduate of Steve’s Commentariat University and started his blog at Steve’s suggestion. Last I looked, Mr. James Wolcott’s blogroll addresses Steve’s original blog (I occasionally refer to his take on European Colonialism which was pure genius).
Billmon is also sorely missed.
Wish By Neddie Jingo’d get off his ass and start up again. Also his brother Bobby Lightfoot.

Gaaaaaah. Should have looked at the next post before commenting. My brilliant comment laid to waste.

So late to this party that this probably will never be read but man do I miss Steve Gilliard. What a mensch. And yes, he was always there in the comments sections responding, somewhere on an old computer of mine I have saved a bunch of them. I miss Billmon’s and the Editors’ blogging too but I was gutted when Steve was taken from us. RIP my blogging friend.
