And not just in London! Via Paul Constant, Pema Levy at TPM2012 informs us that “the fate of the Ron Paul campaign comes down to Nebraska”:
Ron Paul’s last hope of challenging Mitt Romney for the presidential nomination at the Republican National Convention comes this Saturday at the Nebraska state GOP convention. If he gets a plurality of delegates in Nebraska, Paul’s name will be put forward for nomination, and he will be given 15 minutes to speak before the first round of balloting in Tampa — an embarrassing situation that Romney wants to avoid…
According to the Republican National Committee’s rules, Paul needs a plurality of delegates from at least five states in order to have his name put forward at the convention. He currently has four: the delegations from Iowa, Maine, Minnesota and Louisiana. Nebraska is the last state to hold its convention, and could become the crucial fifth state for Paul.
In anticipation of what could be a divided convention, the Nebraska GOP is ramping up security for the event. ”It’s been communicated to us from other RNC members from around the country to watch for specific things,” McGrain told NBC News.
“Their experience has been instructive to us. We’ve received correspondence from those who attended the Nevada and Louisiana state conventions where they had significant disturbances and problems. It arose from not everyone being on the same page and we have the benefit of that hindsight.”…
Paul supporters in Nebraska say they aren’t looking for trouble this weekend. Laura Ebke, chairwoman the libertarian group that is leading the effort to get Paul delegates in Nebraska, told the Associated Press that there was no disruption planned “unless the party instigates something.”…
Nine out of ten Slog commentors assume that the RNC will conspire, either before or after the state convention, to ensure that Rmoney’s triumphant march to Tampa shall not be waylaid. Of course, the loyal Paulistas commenting at Talking Point Memo have no intention of letting the minions of “the Man from Kolob” steal their First Amendment rights, but one fears the odds are not in their favor…

I’m rooting for Paul, just because I would like to see a convention that wasn’t a completely staged four day wankfest… But my guess is that it won’t happen.

anyone see the first segment on The Ed Show about Willard. I love how the Democrats are now using the offshore accounts to QUESTION WILLARD’S PATRIOTISM.
Oh, oh, what joy it was to hear Jim Clyburn say it, up front and personal, that one has to doubt Willard’s LOYALTY TO AMERICA because of these offshore accounts.

Rachel Maddow had a great segment on her show yesterday, detailing how the GOP effectively purged the Massachusetts delegates of Paul supporters. They are not going to let anything get in the way of the Romney coronation.
Elsewhere there are stories about Peter O’Toole retiring from acting. I was thinking about how much I loved him in “Lawrence of Arabia,” “The Ruling Class,” and “My Favorite Year,” and now it just hit me that I think my personal favorite was his performance in “Beckett.”
And no freaking Oscars. Still, what a career.

Galtians going batshit crazy over Dems raising issue of Romney’s Swiss bank accts
Dear Sen. Durbin:
You frequently complain about America’s trade deficit. But on Sunday’s Face the Nation you complained instead about Mitt Romney’s Swiss bank account.
Are you aware that when Mr. Romney and other citizens invest abroad they put downward pressure on America’s trade deficit?
If you are aware of this fact, have you suddenly changed your mind about the alleged ills of America’s trade deficit? And will you, from here on in, therefore stop demagoguing that statistic for your political gain?
If instead you’re not aware of this fact, don’t you think you should immediately stop legislating on matters of trade – matters about which your ignorance of trade deficits renders you utterly incompetent even to pronounce upon?
Sincerely,

Matt Welch: “Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) may be too busy to pass a budget more than every 1,168 days or so, but he can always spare time for passing judgments about U.S. citizens who have the gall to open bank accounts in stable countries with sound currencies and a tradition (if eroding) of banking privacy… Whether tautological or conspiratorial, Democratic Swissophobia precludes the idea that Americans could possibly have a legitimate reason to park money in one of the world’s leading financial centers.”

Son of a bitch. She’s an older lady. She had 5 kids and a couple of grandkids. She met a man at church. He was a Deacon. He was a “good catch”. So they got engaged then got married. She started feeling bad during the honeymoon and she continued feeling sick. She found a letter in his bible and it said he was HIV positive. It was dated a year before they got married. That son of a bitch knew he had HIV!!!!! Son of a bitch!

Since this is an open thread, I will change the subject to dog rescue. I am looking for a home for an old handicapped dog. She probably won’t last many more years but I am hoping they will be good years.
I got her from a drug addict Sunday morning. She was living under a trailer ona property where a lively business in meth is conducted all night long most nights. There are five or six residents on the property, none of them known to be violent (except the sex offender) but none of them people you’d have over for dinner either.
Anyway oe of the residents, acknowledging that the dog was not being cared for, gave her to me. I drove her straight to the vet. I spent 165 mostly on flea medication, treatment for her bacterial infection and boarding costs.
She is stone deaf, has functional vision ( a cataract), need grooming to remove the dreadful matts, needs time to regrow large patches of missing hair and needs nurturing to learn that people are sources of love, not indifference.
I think she’s a cairn terrier mix but she does not have terrier personality. In fact she’s pretty inert, sleepsmost of the time. She’s housebroken, quiet, undemanding and, once her fur recovers, she will be beautiful.
I am calling her Toffee because her fur is apricot and cream colored. If you live any where near the Puget Sound, even down to Portland, and you culd give her a home, let me know at LKoerber889ataoldotcom.

It was almost worth it to see Casey Anthony acquitted by a Florida jury for the spectacle of Nancy Grace’s head exploding on HNN with astonishment at a result that was such a complete rebuke to her arrogant certainty that Anthony would, indeed must, be found guilty. Her working motto is “let no rock of prejudicial speculation or vicious innuendo go unturned”. How does this sadistic witch keep her law license?

It did not occur to me until just now that Romney has to give an actual speech at the convention, and that is has the possibility of being a train wreck. Especially now that the man no longer has any idea who he is.

Speaking of Nancy Grace, did anyone here see her “swift Justice” show? It lasted one season only, year before last.

@cmorenc: While I don’t know about her law license, there is a pretty good reason why she’s a TV bloviator and not a prosecutor any more; her Wikipedia entry has some interesting info.

@The prophet Nostradumbass:
Is it still airing? Swift Justice with Jackie Glass got cancelled. I know a dude who was working in post on that and “Judge Joe Brown” (same production company) and when Swift got cancelled a bunch of people got let go. (They had increased staff to accommodate having two shows.)
