You right, Rush. Negroes should totally learn how awesome the party that seems to keep insulting us is. So what if you speak to us in a condescending, patronizing, uber-arrogant tone, WE NEED TO LEARN HOW AWESOME YOU ARE FOR US!
Today on #TWiBRadio, I’m left alone to my own devices with the rest of the team off receiving government handouts (i.e. taking a German exam and finalizing a dissertation) I opened up the phone lines and we discussed the Republican outreach plan, the ridiculousness of its execution and what could actually work.

And this morning on #amTWiB:
Looks like Anthony Weiner is considering a comeback. Turns out it was all about easy access:
You know, [Twitter is] like spin the wheel! Find someone to say something to you! And if it wasn’t 2011 and it didn’t exist, it’s not like I would have gone out cruising bars or something like that. It was just something that technology made possible and it became possible for me to do stupid things. I mean, the thing I did, and the damage that I did, not only hadn’t it been done before, but it wasn’t possible to do it before.
DAMN YOU TWITTER FOR EXISTING!!!
Then L.Joy and the crew discuss the treacherous chicks manipulating parents, Ben Carson backed out of Johns Hopkins convocation, and what you should know about Obama’s budget proposal.

I kind of agree with Mr. Weiner, though it was still his fault. At least the advancement in technology that allowed him to do stupid things didn’t kill 20 people at an elementary school.
Zifnab
I’m convinced Republicans don’t actually want black people to vote for them at all. They just want to be seen “trying” to appeal to black people, so their demographics consultants will get off their backs.
BGinCHI
You know who else took German exams and finalized his dissertation.
Wait. Cancel that second thing.
gogol's wife
How can anyone listen to Rush Limbaugh? What a loathsome voice, what a creep.
p.a.
The best political points I’ve heard in a long time: 1) it took a generation, but the Faux News bubble these turds inhabit really has made them clueless about, well, anything. 2) being pampered by ‘The Wurlitzer’ has made them helpless when faced with well-informed opposition. (Lucky for them the MSM is neither well-informed, or much of an opposition).
Arm The Homeless
@BGinCHI: Kant?
maya
Rush will have you know that some of his best Dominican, uh, friends are negroidish. So there.
BGinCHI
@Arm The Homeless: Kant loved mustard. Little-known fact.
srv
Rush got a raspy cokehead voice now.
maya
@BGinCHI: ”
You know who else took German exams and finalized his dissertation.”
Paging Dr Mengele.
scav
@BGinCHI: And a real pissant.
Arm The Homeless
Mustard is not a categorical imperative. QED it is not a good thing. Which explains why I make horrible sandwiches.
BGinCHI
@Arm The Homeless: It’s true. If you are willing to make everyone use mustard you must be willing to use mustard on yourself at all times.

For some reason I clicked the RL link. It wasn’t as bad as I had expected. I was expecting some alternative history tirade about how African-Americans were counter-intuitively realy oppressed by liberal sportswriters who were biased towards the first NFL black quarterbacks. Or maybe some improvised dialects to liven things up.
But, Rush has begun to acknowledge that his side has lost. I think he gave a little obituary for ‘his’ America after Obama own, and waved the white flag on gay marriage.
After awhile if he can’t make enough dough from his radio show, he can go on a nostalgia tour and perform some of his famous tirades. Maybe as an opening act for something more high class, say an O’Reilly Golden Oldies hour.
BGinCHI
@scav: Idealist pissant, to be precise.
schrodinger's cat
@Zifnab: They are repeating these winning tactics with Latinos and other immigrants. We see column after column, by Brooks and the like puzzling over how xyz group is conservative but won’t vote for Republicans.
xyz = Latinos, Asians, other new immigrants, etc.
At this stage why anyone other than members of the 1% vote Republican is beyond me.
Arm The Homeless
@BGinCHI: I could get behind a mustard mandate, but then people like Cole would go and claim their floofy cat stole it and we would be stuck arguing free rider problems until the end of time.
Fax Paladin
@scav: Yeah, but could he think you under the table?
Baud
Duh. Cause they’re blah.
BGinCHI
@Arm The Homeless: Who could fuck up buying mustard?
It’s almost inconceivable. Like a problem in an ethics class.
Just Some Fuckhead
Twitter made me blow a homeless guy at the bus stop a couple times.
danielx
Right. Anybody with a face like that who would repeatedly play “Barack the Magic Negro” for his listeners has just got to be looking out for black peoples’ best interests…
Should have stopped at anybody with a face like that. What a loathsome humanoid-shaped maggot.
schrodinger's cat
@Arm The Homeless: He actually sells it online. Nice little mustard scam he has going on there.
He=Tunch. Google fat cat mustard.

Please no one tell Weiner about Omegle.
The Dangerman
True about Twitter; who amongst hasn’t sent a picture of his erect cock to strangers?

@BGinCHI: I will cop to learning that bit of philosophy from a philosopher under the conditions described. I will consider this my 200 level course and prepare myself accordingly for the exam. Next week? Will there be a shadow rabbits on the cave wall practical this time too?

@schrodinger’s cat:
I hope the GOP lives in its ‘just a message problem’ bubble for awhile. I read to day that Hispanics overwhelming support stricter gun regulation.
Poll: Huge Majority Of Latinos Back Stricter Gun Laws
Tom Kludt, TPM
‘ 70 percent of Latinos believe that “that the laws covering the sale of firearms should be made more strict,” ‘
http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entry/poll-huge-majority-of-latinos-back-stricter-gun
And looks like the GOP base’s bigotry fear and ignorance will win out and GOP will oppose or try to gut immigration reform. The GOP leaders will represent!
I think it is true that in some ways, ethnic communities are more ‘conservative’ in some old fashioned senses of the word than they are ‘liberal’. But what does old fashioned conservative have to do with the current GOP? Nothing, nothing at all.
lamh35
OT, but related. Ain’t this some shhhh!
Georgia’s Republican governor won’t endorse town’s first racially integrated prom
Guv don’t want to be seen as “taking sides”. Ugh…segregation or intergration, what to do, what to do…jackass!
patroclus
I think you’re giving the Republicans WAY too much credit when you said “the party that seems to keep insulting” African-Americans – they do it much more blatantly and frequently than just that. It’s not just dog whistles and Willy Horton anymore; it’s out in the open for everyone to see. They actively try to enact laws suppressing the vote; their intellectual avatar (Antonin Scalia) tries to repeal the Voting Rights Act from the bench and suggests that voting rights are some sort of affirmative action. The Governor of Texas had a ranch named “N-word-head;” an Alabama county commissioner speaks of “N-word-rigging” something; their new libertarian star Kentucky Senator wavers on the Civil Rights Act which he thinks discriminates against private businesses and thinks he knows more about the NAACP’s formation than Howard students; their “News” channel shows one guy from the New Black Panther party years ago over and over and over and over and over and over again on a never-ending loop; they speak of “Chicago-style” and “urban” politics; they criticize the First Lady (who historically is/are above politics) with excess venom, they question the lyrics of African-American artists at Presidential press briefings; they portray the President as an ape or the Devil, they question whether he was even born in the U.S. and bring lawsuits in federal court about it – the list goes on and on. And, most importantly, they champion no policy position whatsoever that would even arguably benefit African Americans and haven’t for decades.
Roger Moore
@Zifnab:
Sure they want black people (and Latinos, Asian Americans, etc.) to vote for them, or at least they’re perfectly happy to accept any votes that wind up in their column. They just aren’t willing to change anything about themselves or the policies they advocate in order to appeal to those minorities. Their lack of minority votes is totally the fault of the minorities refusing to recognize how great their policies are.
jl
@lamh35: That could be considered a ‘passive outreach’ effort. Full steam ahead, GOP!
schrodinger's cat
@jl:
GOP is not conservative, they are reactionary and radical.
GOP leaders keep repeating that word but I don’t think it means what they think it means.

@BGinCHI: your house is burning down, and you have three animals, of which you can only realistically save one. Your cat has a jar of mayonnaise tied to his back, one of your dogs is carrying a jar of stone ground mustard, and the other dog has a six pack of Two Hearted Ale in its maw. Which do you save? Show your work.
@schrodinger’s cat: That explains all the white hair in that bottle I ordered last week. I knew I should have asked for a certificate of authenticity.
schrodinger's cat
@Arm The Homeless: The fur enhances the flavor, really. Its Tunch’s special blend.
Baud
@Arm The Homeless:
Trick question. The cat kills everyone and takes all the loot.
proterozoic
@danielx: Actually, “Barack the Magic Negro” is a hit against Al Sharpton & others who were saying, at the time, that BHO wasn’t “authentically black.” Lyrics make it pretty clear.
Weird to find myself defending Limbaugh in any capacity, but there it is.

Why can’t Negroes understand how awesome the GOP is?
Because “awesome” is the wrong word.
“Atrocious” or “awful” or “asinine” would be more accurate.
Omnes Omnibus
@Arm The Homeless: Drink the beer. Use pee to put out fire.

We know they’re not actually conservative because one of their leaders hates the idea of energy conservation.

OT again (sorry) but “No Shit Sherlock” to today’s SASQ headline of the day:
Did Being Black Cost Obama Votes?
Omnes Omnibus
@lamh35: Frankly, I am encouraged that the number is that small.
WereBear
I was on the floor laughing helplessly at the Limbaugh mocking.
What, indeed, can one say to such… what? There are no words.
Perhaps German has some. I worry that German has some.
Baud
@Omnes Omnibus:
Not to be a downer, but aren’t those votes Obama could have had if he were white. So likely southern Dems. Racist Republicans were lost to us even apart from the racism.
Omnes Omnibus
@Baud: I know. I would have guessed 5-7%.
ETA: I think a good number of them would be of the “I am not racist, but…” type who would just have the there was something vaguely off about him but they can’t quite put their finger on it.
Chris
@patroclus:
And when called on it by a fellow (black) Republican, he and the entire party opened up on him with both barrels until he’d meekly apologized for forgetting his place. That’s probably the best illustration to date of why minorities hate the GOP.
Baud
@Omnes Omnibus:
Interesting, though, that a white Obama might have gotten 55% of the popular vote in 2008 and 2012.
Chris
@lamh35:
Only four? Racial animus is the reason roughly half of the voters vote in the first place.

@WereBear:

Germans? Germans can’t cuss worth scheiss.
Below is a lesson on
How to swear in Swiss German
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQ5uu4XFiPo
That will get you started. I have a number of Swiss Germans in my ancestral tree. Except for the sedate deliveries, that lesson brings back fond childhood memories. I can’t decide which on is best for Rush. When in doubt about best choice, the Swiss German way is to string them all together at the top of your lungs. It’s a talent, and requires practice and good physical condition.
Arm The Homeless
@Omnes Omnibus: Good answer. Cat continues posting as Cole and puts the site behind a pay wall until such time as he can buy a tuna boat and bait.
Omnes Omnibus
@Arm The Homeless: So, no change but for the paywall?
GregB
I have to remind some of the younger Black conservative GOP apologists that I know that it was a badge of pride to stand against the creation of a Martin Luther King Jr. holiday for the far right.
Also, they didn’t think Black people in South Africa had the right to take up arms against their oppressors.
Dearly departed Margaret Thatcher said Nelson Mandela was a terrorist.
lamh35
a copy of the telegram Jackie Robions sent to JFK asking about protection for Dr King after the murder of Medgar Evers. The second page with the plea for protection is almost prescient in retrospect.
You can read the telegram here:

Chris
@GregB:
This reminds me a horrified comment on the Facebook of an evangelist-in-training back in the London riots that said it was “more than immoral… it’s godlessness.”
Needless to say, he’s never reacted to any story of police brutality the same way.
Point being that they tend to see authority as not just good but ultimately righteous and above petty notions of right and wrong. Concurrently, any resistance to said authority is a mortal sin against the order of How Things Ought To Be and, for the more religious, against God himself.
I need to break down and read that Altmeyer book someday, I suspect it would explain much.
YellowJournalism
@Arm The Homeless: No, the cat woul be posting as Cole from the tuna boat, because the cat took out a large insurance policy via the Internet. Cat also started the fire.
WereBear
It explains a LOT.
Arm The Homeless
@Omnes Omnibus: basically. The plan remains unchanged. Eventually Tunch will be able to do away with the human suit and retire to the comforts of a well stocked galley.
Roger Moore
@jl:
The ultimate problem is that cultural conservatives who come from different cultures are at best allies of convenience. Essentially all political cultural conservatives are really cultural chauvinists. They aren’t just trying to protect their culture, they’re trying to impose it on others. They may sometimes work together to prevent liberals from having their way, but white cultural conservatives whose are trying to defend white supremacy are never going to find reliable allies from non-whites, no matter how culturally conservative.
West of the Rockies
Is Rush starting to sound a little gravely and old? I’ve not heard that fool speak in some years now. I wonder if there’s any chance he’ll hang ’em up soon and head off to well-deserved oblivion. (Who, after all, quotes Father Coughlin anymore?)
Xantar
Damn. When I saw that this thread had about five times more comments than the TWIB posts usually get, I figured somebody had successfully trolled the place. But instead it’s just a bunch of people venting more or less reasonably about how racist the GOP is. I want my money back!
Lurking Canadian
@Chris: I’m working my way through a Barbara Tuchman book about the 14th century in France. Two points stand out. The English, who turned burnin and looting the French countryside into the national sport, were horrified at the perfidy of the group of Frenchmen who invades England’s south to…burn and loot.
And of course, the French nobility, who made the abuse, rape and murder of French peasants their life’s vocation, were outraged by the rebellion of the Jacquerie, which consisted of French peasants raping and murdering French noblemen.
I think some Palestinian hippy said something about not doing to other people what you don’t want done to you, but seriously who listens to that guy?

Omnes Omnibus

Isn’t this the same thing Republicans are attempting to do with their outreach towards women?
National speeches assert friendliness
National actions directly attack womens’ rights
just today Virginia passed the bill which will drop all abortion clinics within the entire state. Your 2013 GOP. I mistyped 1013 GOP at first, but that may have been more accurate.
eric nny
I should have known not to click on Rush. Pleasant Saturday morning just turned angry…..it’s amazing how easily he can push my buttons.
ottercliff
Yup, Republicans are awesome and none of their on-air blowhards are obese Oxyheads.
Chris
@Unsympathetic:
Nah, I’d say their minority outreach is another degree away. It’s even more intentionally designed to attack rights AND not so subtly assert unfriendliness, so that they can point to the backlash as evidence of how unreasonable these people are.
