Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

If you cannot answer whether trump lost the 2020 election, you are unfit for office.

Everything is totally normal and fine!!!

One of our two political parties is a cult whose leader admires Vladimir Putin.

An almost top 10,000 blog!

Let the trolls come, and then ignore them. that’s the worst thing you can do to a troll.

That’s my take and I am available for criticism at this time.

We are aware of all internet traditions.

Our job is not to persuade republicans but to defeat them.

Too often we confuse noise with substance. too often we confuse setbacks with defeat.

I did not have this on my fuck 2025 bingo card.

It’s pointless to bring up problems that can only be solved with a time machine.

Today in our ongoing national embarrassment…

🎶 Those boots were made for mockin’ 🎵

My right to basic bodily autonomy is not on the table. that’s the new deal.

When you’re in more danger from the IDF than from Russian shelling, that’s really bad.

I would try pessimism, but it probably wouldn’t work.

This blog will pay for itself.

You are so fucked. Still, I wish you the best of luck.

Sitting here in limbo waiting for the dice to roll

Trump’s cabinet: like a magic 8 ball that only gives wrong answers.

We will not go back.

Sometimes the world just tells you your cat is here.

You passed on an opportunity to be offended? What are you even doing here?

Let me eat cake. The rest of you could stand to lose some weight, frankly.

The “working” dogs are at it again:

zzzzzzdogs

I couldn’t use the flash; that would have been mean.

What are y’all up to this holiday weekend? It’s BBQ and baseball as usual for us this weekend, but on Tuesday, hubby and I are actually going on vacation for the first time in years. Seal Team Six has agreed to watch the kid, dogs and chickens.

Obambi’s speech was a complete failure.

Not once did he address whether Bradley Manning should be the Grand Marshall at the upcoming San Francisco gay parade.

    Not once!

On Memorial Day Monday, the Yankees are playing the Mets.
    It’s a big, inter-city rivalry.

Is the game on in the afternoon, when the whole family can watch it?
    HELL NO!!!
The @$$hole Lord’s of Baseball (TV channels) have determined that 7:05 is a great time to start a holiday Baseball game, even though school is still in session, and the kids have to go there on Tuesday.

I think I’ve seen maybe a handful of World Series games over the past 10 years – I just can’t stay up that late anymore, even though I’ve been unemployed for the last 3 years.
And don’t get me started on the NBA Championship games, which begin at 9!!!

It’s no wonder the NFL rules. Because most of their games are in the early or late afternoon on the East Coast. And the Super Bowl starts around 6:30 here.

Of course, none of this matters if you don’t live in the Eastern Time Zone.

Sleeping in, unpacking and moving in, going to go to the shelter where they took care of my boy and drop off some cell phone chargers, and going to open a bottle of champagne that we bought to celebrate buying the house, and then a bottle or three of something else.

Supposed to be cool this weekend because we’re having the oddest damn spring in memory. Not that I am complaining because it could easily be 90 degrees with matching humidity. Lots of people have left town but tourists might make up for the slack.

I got a Groupon to a local hotel, so we’re going one city over for our “vacation.” Which sounds a little silly but, hey, two nights in a deluxe room at a nice hotel in Pasadena (with a heated pool!). With no cats. And someone else to straighten it up and make the bed.

I’ll spend six hours Saturday hawking my folk art at the local Growers’ Market (my 12th year), but mostly I plan to do little else but read, watch movies, and drink IPA as I continue to recover from a nasty car wreck eight days ago. As for this Memorial Day weekend, I am in year 2 of the End of the PSYCHOBILLY FREAKOUT WEEKEND. For 14 years I threw a party this weekend, but that ended last year because everyone is old, or has kids, or moved, or is just stupid and boring. So no more bacchanalia.

Nice bit of Bolshevizing from Krgthulhu here:

    http://krugman.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/05/24/obamacare-will-be-a-debacle-for-republicans/

…the preliminary numbers for CA are in — and they’re looking very good, with costs coming in below expectations. At this point, it looks as if this thing is indeed going to work.
And think about the political dynamics. Because the Supreme Court decided to let states opt out of the Medicaid expansion, some states — notably Texas — will have a pretty dysfunctional version of Obamacare in 2014, although even those systems will provide significant benefits to many people. Still, the whole political calculus was supposed to be that Republicans in red states could point to the horrors of Obamacare and ride them to political victory. Instead, it looks as if we’re going to see blue-state residents reaping the benefits of a functional health care system, while red-state residents are denied many of those benefits, for what looks like no better reason than mean-spirited spite — because what’s going on is, indeed, mean-spirited spite.
Predictions that Obamacare will be a big political issue are probably right — but not in the way gleeful conservatives imagined.

I am a pale, freckly thing who can get a sunburn in a bank vault.

So’s my darling wife of lo these many decades (redhead of Irish/Polish descent).

Which is why dragging her here to the Valley of the Sun (Sheriff Joe Arpaio County) 32 years ago was a dastardly deed on my part for which the karmic payback will be a bitch, no doubt.

Like the rest of my family (German/Irish descent) I somehow tan just fine myself (right now I’m actually about the same shade as my dulce y bella daughter-in-law from Peru).

My wife only does the floppy-hat thing when we’re at Coachella, but that’s because there is no other way she could spend 3 long April afternoons outside in Indio (otherwise she avoids much sun exposure here at home).

Spending this long weekend helping my 3 rescue pups babysit my son’s large (110#) and rambunctiouos Black Lab/Great Dane (probably) mix while my son begins recovery from knee surgery. And watching baseball (my Cleveland Tribe is doing well — for now). And bbq-ing and swimming in the backyard pool (first time in the pool this year).
