Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Usually wrong but never in doubt

Let me eat cake. The rest of you could stand to lose some weight, frankly.

No Justins, No Peace

I didn’t have alien invasion on my 2023 BINGO card.

The arc of history bends toward the same old fuckery.

Following reporting rules is only for the little people, apparently.

No one could have predicted…

Our job is not to persuade republicans but to defeat them.

But frankly mr. cole, I’ll be happier when you get back to telling us to go fuck ourselves.

Schmidt just says fuck it, opens a tea shop.

Do not shrug your shoulders and accept the normalization of untruths.

Not all heroes wear capes.

🎶 Those boots were made for mockin’ 🎵

It’s always darkest before the other shoe drops.

I’ve spoken to my cat about this, but it doesn’t seem to do any good.

Joe Lieberman disappointingly reemerged to remind us that he’s still alive.

How can republicans represent us when they don’t trust women?

Battle won, war still ongoing.

A snarling mass of vitriolic jackals

A consequence of cucumbers

The worst democrat is better than the best republican.

Wow, I can’t imagine what it was like to comment in morse code.

They love authoritarianism, but only when they get to be the authoritarians.

Bark louder, little dog.

CBS just mentioned the brawl that the Palin’s started. Okay, they just said the Palin’s were at a party where a fight broke out.

A tentative yes if I can get someone to watch the kid. Do you know which side of the bar you’ll be stationed at?

No Palin style brawlin’ among you Juicers.

Wish I could make it but it just can’t be swung.

A possible yes, depending on a possible prior commitment.

On a totally related note, I’ve already volunteered at an MS fundraiser this year (actually about seven years running). If I don’t tomorrow, does that make me a bad person?

Well shoot that’s close enough to my house that I could bike or even walk. But we may be going out of town tomorrow since we’re doing renovations and try to stay away whenever possible.

I had hoped to go, but I picked up a seasonal job which started early this year. Too much work to take the drive. Next time!

SiubhanDuinne just left Vermont, we had an excellent time. She is so much fun! My animals loved her too. The younger dog, (crazy)Gracie was seriously slutting it up there. And one of the cats who is so shy that guests never see him was hugging up to the back of her head on the couch, purring loudly. Such good vibes!

I’ll try — probably can make it at least for the early part of the festivities. May stock up at Sevan Bakery first. (Highly recommended for those of you who don’t know about the Watertown Levant. Best stuffed grape leaves west of Istanbul, seven or eight different kinds of feta, muhamara to die for, olives, the lot.)

    @Tom Levenson:

Had never heard of muhummara (Syrian Red Pepper and Walnut Dip). Now may not be able to live without it. All the goodies, and good for you.

Here’s a recipe from a cool recipe blog, Coffee and Quinoa.

I can’t say I’m more than 50/50 to go. Lower back issues, and driving doesn’t help.

The timing is terrible for me, since I’m moving a week from tomorrow and have to bring a truck full of stuff to my daughter’s house in Medford. The last one was great though (albeit a bit warm without A/C) and I highly recommend making an effort to go.

Will come for the early part, have to bail at 6:30. Highly agree on Sevan–I love those stuffed grape leaves also.

If I don’t go to this one I probably will never go to any given that I can walk there easily from my house.

    So call me a yes.
